What were the very first video games you played in your life? For me,they were Sonic The Hedgehog 2,Batman and Phantasy Star 4 (all for the Sega Genesis). They were the very first games I got for my Sega and I expanded my horizons to even more Sega Genesis games and Playstation 1 games as I got older. I think I was 4 1/2 or 5 years old when I first played my Genesis.

Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt on the NES. The best part is it came in the same cartridge. Among that, I played RBI Baseball and Tecmo Super Bowl to no end.

Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt was the first game I played as well. However the first game I owned was Super Mario World and I didn't get an NES until a while after getting an SNES.

Other games I recall playing way back before I even had my SNES

TMNT 1 NES
TMNT 2 NES
Ducktales
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers
Super Maro Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
Tetris
Sonic the Hedgehog
TMNT Arcade

Super Mario Bros., of course. Man do I hate that game now, though.

I think it was a game called Chequered Flag. It was very simple racing on a mere 48k of memory. Click here (http://www.ysrnry.co.uk/articles/completeguidetodrivinggames.htm) and look down the list. How retro can you get?

I'd say Sonic the Hedgehog on a second hand Sega Genesis back in 1996. We had like 5 games for it, and that was it. It died in 1998, and I went without a game system other than my computer until three (?) years ago, when we got the PS2. I just got a DS recently. I'm a relatively new gamer, in that sense.

Lots of NES games, of course Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. I also played arcade games of Pac-Man, pinball, TMNT the Arcade Game, Mappy, etc. The first game I ever completed was Duck Tales on NES.

I think the first game I played was small soilders on the Game Boy. First game I owned was Game Boy Gallery, closely followed by Super Mario Land 1, Super Mario Land 2 and A Bugs Life.

Man that bugs life game was awful...

Some blackjack game on one of the Atari systems. The first one I really remember was Rampage on the NES.

(Apart from the original PlayStation "Demo1" disc)

Frogger (1997 remake)
International Track & Field
Bubsy 3D
Gex 3D
&
Crash Bandicoot

ALL of them are Sony PlayStation games.

EDIT: But I think I played an arcade fighting machine at the front of the exit of the indoor swimming pool building. I lost, obviously but I think it was before I played ANY Sony PlayStation game so...hmph.

*sigh* Those were good times. :)

The TRON arcade machine at the Bremorton movie theater. I was about 3 or 4 and wasted about $8 of my parents money in it.

To my (and my mother's) memory, it was The Lion King for Genesis (I got a bundle, and the system's lying around somewhere, need to get a new controller on the 'bay).
Either that or the original Sonic The Hedgehog.

Anyway, it was the mario/duckhunt double pack.

Eh, it would be something for the old Atari system. Something like Pac-Man or Missile Commnand. *shrugs*

My parents had an Atari before I was born, so that's what I first played. I don't remember the very first game I ever played on it, but my earliest memories where of MISSILE COMMAND, PITFALL, and some fishing game. Don't remember the name, but two players would compete against each other, fishing from the end of a pier. And there was a shark that would swim buy and eat your fish if you weren't careful.

Super Mario Kart for the SNES. Still the best Mario Kart game I've ever played.

Time for this story again.

It's hazy on exactly when this was, but I was once in some kid's apartment and he had a Nintendo, so I played a little Super Mario with him. It was the first time I had ever held a controller and I didn't know what to do, so I just repeatedly ran into the first Goomba over and over until all my lives were gone.

The kid who actually had the machine wasn't doing much better than me. :p

Ignoring some terrible edutainment back in nursery/lower school, Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mega Drive (both rented from a local games rental shop that has long since closed down). This was back when my sister was into gaming as well, so there was a bit of a contest to see who could complete it first. It's funny remembering Final Zone as really hard to beat, then playing it now on Mega Collection Plus and finding it pretty easy. Because my sister and I were constantly renting from the place (games such as California Games, Toe Jam & Earl and Decap Attack), my mum eventually bought us are own one along with a copy of Sonic. Still got most of my collection.

My first game was Super Mario Bros.

But the first game that I beat was Legend of Zelda. And I still playing them when I have 1-2 hours in free time.

And recently(2-3 years ago) I just beat the second quest (Level 7 is really a pain to find the red candle and the boss).

One challenge for Legend of Zelda Quest 2: Beat the game with the wood/brown/first sword.

If we're talking strictly on the console side, then it'd be Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt.

In a more general sense? Some games on the Apple II GS. Oregon Trail*, California Games, O'Dell Lake, a whole bunch of edutainment stuff (Reader Rabbit was freaking awesome).

*Coincidentally, thinking back, I consider Oregon Trail to be my first real RPG. I mean, You're on a quest. You have your party. There's a job system offering various skills for you to use. You can buy items to help you on your journey, and can choose to go into battle (hunting) with wild creatures to try and get more. Not to mention there's a lot random encounters on your way. There's even status effects, like the dreaded dysentery! You whipper-snappers with your complicated plots and fancy graphics. I'd like to see you try and make it down the rapids!

I think the first game I ever played was some airplane game on NES. I do know that I first owned a Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt/some track game bundle cartridge when I got a NES.

The first game I really remember playing was on the Atari 2600. It was Bowling.

I also remember playing the Winter Olympics game for Commodore 64 quite a lot. I was only really good at the biathalon, and I remember being horrible at the figure skating portion of the game. Man, that was impossible.

Oh, and Mrs. Pacman at the arcade, of course. :D

PONG ya wee pups..... PONG!!!

It was some clunky divice that hooked up to the TV and there was a cowboy gun that went with it, where you got to shoot targets.... pretty much just squares.

From there I went to Atari....... Berserk, Combat, Pac Man and Night Rider are what I remember from there.

Next up... NINTENDO!!!

Super Mario Bros, Contra, Top Gun, Double Dragon, and Dragon Warrior are what I remember most. Among others.... Strider, Bionic Commando, and Low G Man.

Genesis followed.... Streets of Rage.... Alien Syndrom, Sonic the Hedgehog

Playstation...... Wild ARMs, Final Fantasy 7 aaannnnnd..... oddly enough, not a whole lot on this system struck my fancy.

DREAMCAST......... SHENMUE, SKIES OF ARCADIA, Phantasy Star Online.... Oh My!

GameCube...... Star Fox, Wind Waker...

Playstation 2..... Wild ARMs 3 is the first game I ever really put time into, followed by Shadow Hearts

Xbox.... bought it for KOTOR.

They are wee pups indeed. :)

PONG. On one of those home consoles (from Sears I think) that predated the Atari 2600. Also played PONG in the arcades.

Asteroids, Pole Position and numerous others at the arcade were my aunt worked back in the '80s. All for FREE that one glorious day. :anime:

As for the Atari 2600 it was either Pitfall or Pac-Man.

Then my memory goes fuzzy until I remember playing Doom, Doom II and Duke Nukem in 3D on our old 486 PC.

In between the Atari 2600 and the 486 I know I played games on our Commodore Vic 20, 8088 (or was it an 8086?) PC and Commodore 64, just can't remember the names of the games.

Then Zork Grand Inquizitor, Final Fantasy VII (borrowed from a friend. He has it back now) and the PC versions of the Tomb Raider games on our first Pentium II.

The first games played on my PS2 (never owned an original Playstation) were DOA2: Hardcore, Final Fantrasy VII and Tekken Tag Tournament.

Donkey Kong for the Atari 2600. A relative gave the machine to my parents, and they let me play with it, probably thinking that I would get bored with it quickly like other toys. I was really fascinated, though, and that machine began a long, expensive gaming habit.

I honestly can't remember, although my earliest memories of video games were Duck Hunt, Mario, and Mortal Kombat. My parents also had an Odyssey 2 from around the time it was released, so that was probably the first system I played, but I don't really remember playing that before the others. I think I probably had it in some attic and didn't find out about it until after playing one of those three games.

Y'know, I never thought of Oregon Trail as an RPG, but you're right. That's cool. It's too bad you can't level up with your guns or anything.

My first game would either be Centipede or Q-bert for Atari. I don't even remember exactly what those games were like, but I know I'm feeling nostalgic for them right now. I think there was also a Big Bird Game too...

I know I had Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt, but the first game I actually remember playing was The Legend of Zelda. I remember my family and I were much more fond of Zelda 2 and played it a lot more, though (not to say Zelda 1 got no game time in our house).

First game played, but didn't know what the hell I was doing: Super Mario / Duck Hunt. I never played SM much because the Goombas freaked me out. Hey, I was only 2.

First game played that I had some sense of mashing buttons: Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat.

After all these years, I'm still a button masher! :D

Either Frogger or Pitfall on the Atari.

I was like 3, back in like, 1994. Then when I was 5, I got a PS1, then N64 in 2000, PS2 in 2001, GCN in 02, Xbox in 04, and soon to be Rev in 06.

Not icluding handhelds (GBC, GBA, NDS)

Apparently I played that when my dad had it and I was, I must have been 3-4 (so around 1978-9) but I don't really remember it. I remember the machine, I don't remember playing the game.

Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Ghostbusters and Batman for the Commandor 64. I don't especailly remember these games too well (Turtles rarely worked, Ghostbusters was insanely difficult, and I didn't know what the hell to do on Batman. I remember my Grandma bought if for 25p because it had the coolest cover to a video game cassette ever.

http://www.ntrautanen.fi/computers/commodore/images/c64/batman_crusader.jpg

...I never got a poster. I want my 25p back!

After that (I was about 3, maybe 4, I hadn't started school yet and Grandma was babysitting) we got a Genesis for Christmas, with Streets of Rage, Spider-Man Vs The Kingpin and Sonic 1. I remember waiting months for Sonic 2 to come out in the November of the following year. Good times!

I can't exactly recall the first video game I ever played, although I do
recall the first video game that I enjoyed playing, and that's Diddy Kong Racing
for Nintendo 64.
