He's an alien.
There's really no other way to classify him. His genus was never really classified.

Like Zorak and Moltarr, Brak was a villain in the 60's "Space Ghost" cartoons, which were intended as dead-serious action/adventure.
Brak was a space pirate, and his crew were members of the same race, but the race was never named (nor was Zorak's). In the first "Brak" episodes he always had distinctly feline whiskers but they were taken off in later cartoons and that's the version they chose for his foray into comedy.
They used to air the original cartoons almost every day on Cartoon Network, along with the original, serious "Birdman" and the awesome "Herculoids", among others.
It really amazes me how many people don't seem to know that Space Ghost and all his buddies came from an actual superhero toon.

So how the heck did Brak escape from those piranha anyway? That's pretty much the only episode I managed to see him in so I figured him dead until I read he makes a final appearence near the end of the series.

How DID you escape from those Pirahnamites anyways" "I dont know. One day I was a happy space pirate, a lootin' and an plunderin, and then Poof. I'm a moron" - paraphrased from Cartoon Planet. :D
