From Nausicaa.net (http://www.nausicaa.net):

Princess Sayako, a daughter of Japanese Emperor, got married yesterday. She wore a white dress (http://topics.kyodo.co.jp/wedding/) for the wedding ceremony.

According to some of news (http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/hochi/news/nov/o20051115_15.htm) articles (http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/national/news/20051116p2a00m0na028000c.html), it could be inspired by Clarisse's wedding dress in the Castle of Cagliostro (http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/lupin/). One of her friends commented
that the princess was an avid Miyazaki fan, especially of Cagliostro, and admired Clarisse as she was a princess as she was. Some of the TV news showed a drawing of Lupin and Clarisse, which the princess drew when she was in junior high.
Hmph, nothing'll top the Dangermouse costume Prince Charles wore to his weddings.

I'd be scandalized too, if my daughter got married in a potato sack...

The princess's dress and Clarisse's really don't look very much alike at all to me. I didn't think her wedding dress was that pretty to be honest with you, but if she liked it, more power to her.
