Title: Silence

Fandom: Teen Titans

Characters: Raven

Prompt: 011 Red

Word Count: 664

Rating: Dunno, it’s a bit depressing, but there’s nothing gory, violent or any bad language. Probably a PG by British standards.

Author's Notes: The end is here. But can Raven do something to save life as she once knew it?

Silence.

Before now I had never really known it. I thought I had. I used to love it. But it wasn’t pure silence. There was always some small noise in the distance, the sound of traffic, the sound of people, the sound of the wind. Now there is no sound, only silence.

Silence undisturbed.

I also used to love the sky. It was every shade of blue imaginable and often other colours as well, ranging from bright pink, to orange. Sometimes it was dotted with stars, other times, with clouds. Now the only colours in the sky are blood red and pitch black. No longer inhabited with sun, moon, clouds or stars. Just red and black.

Red and black and silent.

Then there’s the area around me. Gone is the pizza joint where we would go to eat. Gone is the bank where we foiled so many robberies. Gone is the park where we would go on a summer’s day. Gone is police station where we dropped off all the villains we defeated. But they are gone. The buildings that once stood tall are crumbled and no longer rise into the sky. All that remains is dust, dirt and devastation.

Dust, dirt, devastation, in the red and black silence.

But what about the people? I try not to laugh. If the buildings, trees and sky could not survive, how could mere humans? Every person who ever walked upon this measly planet; be they rich, be they poor, be they normal, be they super human, no one could be alive. No one could have survived the mass onslaught. This massacre is only the start. With earth out of the way nothing stands in his way.

No one can stop the red and black silence and devastation.

I couldn’t stop it. He came. I fulfilled the prophecy made long ago. I helped him. I stood by him. I let him do it. I helped him do it. I helped him create this undisturbed silence. I helped him create this red and black silence. I helped him turn everything into dust, dirt, and devastation. I helped him destroy all life on earth, the planet I wanted to call my home. I helped him destroy the people I once loved.

The boy who lost his parents to a brutal murderer but refused to give up the good fight. He was not perfect, he made bad choices and he obsessed, but I felt he was a brother.

The boy who lost his parents to a murderer and owed them his life as they saved him from a dreadful illness. He was far from perfect, but he tried to make up for it by always trying to cheer everyone up, and I wanted him to be so much more than a friend.

The boy who lost his mother to a creature from an unknown dimension and almost lost his own life to the same being, but was saved by the scientific knowledge of his father. He was unique and tried to be normal despite his abnormality, and he was also like a brother.

The girl who came from a planet far away, who was unsure of so much yet capable of so much more than she let on. She was kind and friendly and always there with an ear to hear problems and she was closer to me than any sister could ever have been.

I helped him destroy my friends who were family. I helped him destroy them all. But why didn’t I stop him. Why?

Why didn’t I try to prevent the prophecy from coming true?

A long scream of pain shattered the silence of the world like glass falling onto hard rock. It wasn’t a scream of terror or fear. It was a scream of anguish, pain and despair. How long it lasted is unknown, but when it ended the universe collapsed, only to recreate itself again, this time with a prophecy of hope.

Hope, not silence.

Title: Starry Sky

Fandom: Teen Titans

Characters: Raven

Prompt: 046 Star

Word Count: 278

Rating: U (universal)

Author's Notes: Just a little scene between the Titans. P.S. I don’t know anything about American rating system, so I’ll just use the British and explain what each means.

She looked up and sighed. The stars were shining brightly in the clear sky, scattered across the darkness like fine sand. The beauty they possessed was immense, and they filled the sky, even though they couldn’t always be seen.

She watched as her warm breath condensed in front of her, and drifted upwards, towards the stars, before disappearing. It left no evidence that it was there, but she knew it had been.

She folded her arms across her chest, as shivers raced through her body. How she longed to be with one of the stars, to be warm, without this cold. The only problem was that there would be immense cold before she reached the stars; so flying there was not an option.

“Hey, Raven!” called out a voice, and she turned to see four teens standing in the doorway. The one she knew as Robin stepped forwards. “Do you want to come inside before you freeze?” he asked.

“In a minute,” she told him, and continued to stare into space.

“What are you looking at Raven?” asked a feminine voice, obviously belonging to Raven’s best friend, Starfire.

“The stars,” she replied.

“Why?”

“Because they make me realise how small I am compared to everything else, how unimportant.”

“But you’re not unimportant,” one of her other friends told her. She turned to see Beast Boy looking at her.

“BB’s right,” Cyborg added. “No one’s unimportant. We may be small, but we are important to at least one person. And you’re important to all of us.”

Raven smiled. “And you’re important to me,” she told them.

They spent the next five minutes just staring at the stars. Just staring.

Title: Thanks Giving

Fandom: Teen Titans

Characters: Raven (Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Superman, J’onn J’onnz)

Prompt: 093 Thanks Giving

Word Count: 870

Rating: U (universal, for anyone of any age)

Author's Notes: This contains characters from JL, and I don’t know if it counts as a crossover or not, as technically they’re from the same universe (DCAU), and Robin knows Batman, who knows Superman and J’onn.

Another pointless holiday, thought Raven. She watched as Beast Boy prepared another tofu turkey. This year she was determined not to eat it. Fortunately she was saved. She had volunteered to look after the Watchtower for the Justice League over Thanks Giving as they were on an off world mission.

She sat watching him prepare it in the control room of the watchtower on one of the many large screens. She changed the view to see Starfire asking Robin why decorations were not used on this holiday. “I do not understand Robin. Are not decorations customary with Holidays?”

“Yeah, just not Thanks Giving, unless you want put up pictures of Turkeys.”

“Ooh, may I?” she asked. Robin looked at her, bewilderment on his face.

“Err, sure Star if you want.”

“Excellent I shall go find some pictures of big fat brown birds that are connected to this celebratory day.”

Raven suppressed a smile. She changed the screen again to see Cyborg working on the T-car. She watched him bending over the front and fiddling with the engine. She almost laughed when he reappeared with his face covered in oil but didn’t think the Justice League would be too grateful if she broke the Watchtower and sent it out of orbit. She flicked the screen again, searching for something to occupy her interest.

She came across a television show about the story of Thanks Giving. Since there was nothing else to watch she decided to watch it. Besides, although she would never admit it, she didn’t know what the holiday was about.

“Thanks Giving is when the Native Americans welcomed the settlers with open arms and shared with them a meal,” said the presenter. She watched, amazed at the generosity of the people and sat in silence as the documentary went on with remakes of the events.

“And as we draw this program to a close,” said the presenter, “We realise that Thanks Giving is a celebration to thank friends and family for the things they have given over the years and to show them we care. Most Thanks Giving meals are held in the home with those we hold dear to our hearts. I hope you enjoyed our programme, I’m…” The presenter was cut off when Raven turned the television off and the Watchtower was silent.

She sat in silence.

After a few minutes she hacked into the security cameras at Titan tower again and watched as her friends sat down to eat the tofu turkey Beast Boy prepared. Cyborg and Robin eyed it suspiciously but Beast Boy ignored them. They sat down, apparently paying no attention to Raven’s empty seat. Raven tried hard to fight the hurt feeling inside of her.

“Thanks Giving is supposed to be spent with family,” said a voice and Raven spun around to face the Martian Manhunter.

“My father wants me dead and my mother is in another dimension,” she replied coldly.

“And friends,” he added.

Raven stiffened. “My friends are fine without me,” she informed him.

“But you are not fine without them,” he commented looking at the screen where the Titans had got themselves into a food fight. Beast Boy’s turkey was the main ammunition. “Why don’t you go and join them?”

“Why don’t you go and join your friends and family?” she asked.

“I am the last Martian, my family is dead.”

“I’m sorry,” said Raven. The cold way in which she said it would have made many think she didn’t mean it, but the Martian wasn’t one of them.

“I am about to join my friends. Why don’t you join yours?”

“I volunteered to keep an eye on things and I will,” she said though her mind raced at the thought of returning to earth to be with her friends.

“Everything will be fine if you leave,” he told her. Raven looked up at him. She really wanted to leave but she didn’t want to leave her post for that reason.

Just then Superman walked in. “J’onn come on!” he called out, then he noticed Raven. “You must be Raven.” He held out his hand. She took it. “Thanks for watching the Watchtower for us, we can give you a lift in the Javelin if you like.”

“That would be nice,” she said.

“Robin,” said Starfire leaning on the back of the sofa as the boys watched the football on the giant wide-screen TV.

“Yeah Star,” he replied only half listening.

“I am still unsure of what this holiday represents,” she said.

“Okay,” he replied.

“Robin I…” she started but was cut off.

“It’s about thanking your friends and family for the things they have given and it’s to show how much you care,” said Raven walking through the door. This was enough of a distraction to make the boys turn around.

“I thought you were watching the Watchtower,” said Robin.

“I was relieved of duty,” she replied and on seeing Beast Boy’s mouth open quickly said, “If you want to show you care you will not offer me tofu turkey.”

Cyborg and Robin laughed and Raven smiled at Beast Boy’s open mouth.

That year all the Titans enjoyed Thanks Giving. They spent it together and that was what mattered.

Wow...100 little stories. That's a grand undertaking. But I've got to say that I'm loving these little stories of yours. Truth be told, what you're doing is exactly what I've always wanted to do. I could never keep things simple though.

I know this will sound terribly premature and corny, but I must say that this demonstration of yours has inspired me. The small phrase "Less is More" definitely applies to the wonderful little nuggets you've written here. I'm going to do my best to follow that example. I think it will do me a lot of good. I'm sure many others would agree with me.

Keep up the great work, Rae.

Sums it up pretty well. Good job, so far. The JLU stories are good, too. Keep it up!:D

Seriously Rae, you're a bloody loon to take up a challenge this epic. I certainly don't think I could do it. But, then again, you're not me, are you?;) :anime:

As I've said on the JL version, I admire your zeal for undertaking such a project; I'm not sure I could do the same, to be quite honest. The story involving the end was very good. If they stay at this quality, I'm going to have a lot of fics to read.
