Who's cooler, Mongul or Darkseid?

Jack "The King" Kirby brought us many of the greatest villans in the whole of the superhero genre.

The Red Skull, Dr. Doom, Galactus, just to name a few. However, when Jack got to his New Gods stories he created a character who was the zenith of villany.

Darkseid.

To me, he is the ultimate super villan and the comic book answer to Satan himself. A being who feeds off the very dispair he brings with his ultimate goal to destroy the heroes of earth. They are symbols of humanitys hope. To break them is the secret to the anti-life equation. After all, what is more anti-life than the absence of hope.

Thats why Darkseid bothers with a "insignifgant spec in the universe" as much as he does. To simply conquer it would mean nothing. But to *break* it, thats something else.

This is also why I think Darkseid and his minions work so well as a rouges gallery for Superman. (Not to dismiss the coolness of TAS Luthor, Brainiac, or Bizzaro). I mean hey, you want to give a challenge to a demi-god? Have him fight the Gods.

As for Mongul, I actually think *Mongal* is cooler than Mongul. :)

To me Darkseid is by far the more interesting character. Whoever created Mongul was probably just sitting around thinking, "Wow, we need another Darkseid like villian." Mongul is second rate.

Mongul is an excellent hand to hand fighter. That's one of the reasons why I like him. Plus he doesn't miind to get his hands dirty unlike Darkseid who rather have someone else do his work.
