Who's going to aquire it? It connects to Suikoden IV storywise and characterwise so I'm wondering if I'll be able to use the data from IV. However it features 50 playable characters in total so I don't think the Stars of Destiny are going to be majorly connected. However supposedly it does allow the the customization on the level of NIS games(if not greater).

I am going to acquire the game. As for whether save game files can be used or not, SuikoIV save file can be used. Apparently people have been having problems figuring out whether it's the cleared game file or just any save file with all 108 Stars, though. Apparently both work, but it'd be safer to just load the cleared game file. This is also the only way you'll be able to get Lazlo (Hero IV :() at some point in the game. And apparently a lot of the 50+ characters available in this game ARE Stars of Destiny in SuikoIV.

I heard that this game has the skill system of Suikoden III. If that is true I may consider it. Too bad I'll have to pass on it for now. Maybe on Christmas!

I thought it was Suikoden V that will have the skill system of Suikoden III.

Both Tactics and V will use the Skill System. And from what I understand, while it does have ties to the Suikoden IV story, Tactics is primarily a stand alone game.
Preordered a while back and definitely looking forward to this one.

K I DECLARE THIS THE TALKBACK THREAD SINCE THE GAME IS OUT K?!
K!
Anyways the level of customibility is on par with Makai Kingdom and Disgaea pretty much. Other than that I'm not too far into the game, but it's got a good system going for it which makes the battles most enjoyable.

I would like to say right now that I am not a big fan of EB Games anymore. While every other store had this game on shelves by 4pm yesterday, EB Games didn't even have it on shelves by closing. If my pre-order was not with EB Games, I would have stopped by Gamestop to pick it up.
Also, when you pre-order a game from a store, do they usually call and let you know that it's in? I have never walked into a store to pre-order a game... =/

EB Games STILL doesn't have it in. It's starting to get a bit annoying, since I stopped in at Gamestop yesterday and they had it on shelves already. As did Best Buy.

Oh forgot to mention this, Suikoden Tactics for a limited time will be packaged with the Soundtrack.
It says Music compilation from the series in total, but it doesn't have any of the opening songs aside from the one for ST. It does have alot of battle music though from the series.

So how did everyone like the game? Me personally, I had found new respect for Suikoden IV after playing Tactics.
Regardless, I had just finished the game and I love how (ending spoiler)
Kyril ended up with a True Rune in the end, or so it was hinted witht he narrator stating that he never grew old
Also, I'm happy that some backstory and character were built to some of the 108 stars in SIV (most notably Kika, Mizuki and Akaghi,) but I wonder, what ever happened to Troy? He was built as a the man who destroyed a fleet by himself and he just dissapperars at the end of SIV and has no mention or appearance at all in Tactics? Odd.
Regardless, kinda off-topic, but what should I play next? Suikoden V, Legendia or Wild Arms 4???

I could recommend Suikoden V, but I never even played the other two choices...

Well Suikoden V is like a shallower Suikoden 2 clone by all accounts. I mean that's what they were going for but it's not quite as good. I really enjoyed tactics though, it was fun and challenging (especially Fishkas) and I'm glad I got it for $14.00 (media play bankruptcy sale). Also, Another World is a nice tune.
My ratings are 3>5>Tactics>1>4 and I never played 2.
Also on your spoiler, huh? True Rune? What True Rune? He didn't live forever because of that. He didn't age because he was half-goat thanks to Yohn. That's also why he didn't turn when he ran into the Evil Eyes. The waste of Troy as a character (interesting intro, then just falls off the face of the game) is hall-mark of Kawano's tenure at the helm of the franchise.

Troy? I think you mean Walter. Troy was the villain they hyped towards the beginning of IV, one of many wasted characters in IV.

Yea I knew that, but I figured Kryil's half-human as well so I figured he'd age at least some. Also, do we actually know if creatures like Yohn are immortal? I don't recall the game mentioning when exactly Yohn was "crossed over" to the Suikoden world, if anything, maybe they have an expanded lifespan. Not trying to refute you or sounding ridiculous, but I just thought maybe there was a True Rune involved with the Evil Eye and stuff. Regardless, though, I like the idea of Kyril not aging. I like the character.
Oh also, Walter brings new meaning to the saying "Go **** a goat"
btw, you really should play the second game, I still rank it as one of the best rpg's available.

No, I mean THAT Troy. I was expecting him to be at least a recruitable character in this game, he had a lot of potential as a badass.

Still I don't think it'll top Suikoden III for me. I haven't felt that way about a game's story since I was 11 years old with FFIV, or 13 with Chrono Trigger. It was so epic, and mattered so much... after III it really felt like the series was going to get down to business but then we got IV.
As for Troy... well that's just Kawano's fault.

SII to this day is still regarded as the best in the series. It's just something you have to play, so it's useless for me to say that SII has a waaaay better story than SIII. But yea, it is understandable to not get the game with the price tag on ebay, but the fact that it goes for $100+ says something right there. Regardless, you should play the game next if you do get the chance.

The PSP version is Suikoden 1 and 2 packaged together is going to be around 30-40 bucks IIRC
It's certainly coming out this year allthough I think it may be next quarter
Supposedly the translation is better and I think if I rmember right you can connect your Hero data from 1 and 2 via the psp and transfer it over to 3.

I've been hoping to grab the Neclord play for a while now... Also that means I have to do the Chris lvl 99 trick AGAIN. *sob*
Oh, also buy a PSP. I don't think you can rent them, can you?

Wait, so it IS being released in the US?
The date is TBA, but they've always intended it to be US bound last I rmember. The Japanese version came out in Febuary-March, so I think if anything I'd wager late 3rd-early 4th quarter.
or unless Konami decides to do a Capcom and have a set of games with matching covers since Metal gear: Portable Ops may be a big seller.
That apparently worked out really well for Capcom, Monster Hunter got revitalized.

Yes...this is news to me...I've always read that the games were not slated to release in the US.
Doesn't really matter though seeing as I own both games already.

I see. I was still under the impression that Konami was only releasing it in Japan still, like rpgamer reported a while ago.
I read it in a somewhat recent issue of either EGM or Gamepro, it had a small little box on the lower right corner of the page giving the release information.
I'll see if I can find the page, because I do remember it mentioning the US edition.
Allthough considering that the PSP got Valkyrie Profile and Popolo on US shores it's certainly not out of the realms of possibility that konami wouldn't reconsider if I misread it.
