View Full Version : What happened to Shelton Benjamin?

He has what many considered the match of the year on RAW a few months back with HBK, then a little push with the IC title, and now he's just a joke. WWE creative seems to believe that the only people that need pushes are old has-beens and an annoying hip-hop thug.

More *****ing i know, but when the time comes, let's hope the Shelton doesn't re-sign with WWE and jumps ship to TNA.

Funny how this is kind of how the end of WCW started. They wouldn't push any of their up-and-comers, so mass depatures to WWF happened, and then they were sold. Also, both had the horrible Johnny Ace in a booking position. Coincidence?

Actually, he had an 8 month IC Title Reign. So honestly, that makes his de-pushing worse.

I totally agree with you. In 2004, He was basically MVP of Raw. Great match after great match after great match. Then they used him to get Carlito over on RAW, and he's done nothing since outside of some lame feud with Kerwin White.

Honestly speaking, I'd love to see them turn it into an angle for him. Just have him come and attack John Cena out of nowhere, and basically cut a promo about how playing nice has gotten him nowhere. It could get him back on track.

He had to have done something to anger management. It's the only real explanation I can think of for his burial.

Batista is also getting a push, albeit smaller then when he was on RAW.

As for Shelton, I heard that it was because of his promos he cut earlier this year. Management didn't care for them and as a result he's in B-Show land. I can't think of any other reason for his depush. He seems to be someone who doesn't complain off-camera. And someone who doesn't have an attitude etc.

I hope come next year's Mania, Shelton has a big role. Or else he could end up like his former tag-partner Charlie Haas and seek greener pastures.

They don't like his interviews? Whatever happened to MANAGERS? And I'm not talking the eye-candy only variety.

Shelton did wrestle at Taboo Tuesday. In the dark match, he and Val Venis jobbed to Matt Stryker and Kerwin White, in an obvious attempt to piss me off. Don't even get me started on the misuse of Sean Morley.

Certainly it is true that he's not the best talker in the world. I mean, he sounds like Mike Tyson. But on the other hand, in light of his great wrestling skills, they probably should be finding a way to work around it.

Of course, it's hard to single out Shelton Benjamin when the whole organization has some serious issues with knowing what's best for itself.

Don't even get me started on the misuse of Sean Morley. You mean the same Sean Morley that can pull good matches out of anyone? The same Sean Morley who made the Right to Censor bearable to watch?

Sorry, I just feel your pain. ;)

Morley had a great gimmick with Chief Morley before Austin came back. In 2003. Ever since then, he hasn't done anything of note. Shame, too.

Benjamin does give laughable promos, but he puts out a great in-ring product that the fans respond to, more should be done with him. Even his I-C reign wasn't very notable by the end of it. His pushes so far have gone in spurts so I hope another will allow him to prove himself as a certified big name.

Or else he could end up like his former tag-partner Charlie Haas and seek greener pastures.Haas didn't seek greener pastures, Johnny Ace moved the flock while he was off grazing with his wife and a bunch of others, then built a new fence.

easy recipe for success with shelton right now would be a heel turn +mouthpiece/manager.. i think that would be the best way to market and mold more of an identity for shelton. if they can't find a manager i would put him back with his old mentor kurt...have kurt cut the promos and shelton stand as his sidearm until he gets better on the mic...something like that...it would be a real shame to drop one of the most talented wrestlers this side of hbk without trying to pull all the punches first..

Haas didn't seek greener pastures, Johnny Ace moved the flock while he was off grazing with his wife and a bunch of others, then built a new fence.
He's off wrestling in New Japan, there's a chance he could end up in TNA in the future, and he's doing Nu Wrestling Evolution in Italy along with other ex-WWE wrestlers (Test, Jamal, Rikishi, Nidia, Palumbo, and Stamboli, among others) which pays really well and apparently, treats the wrestlers like metaphorical kings.

Granted he got fired but compared to what he was doing in the WWE, I'll definitely say he's off in "greener pastures".

And I find it funny. If anybody saw that RAW script from the last episode on Spike, they had promos written practically verbatim for guys like Vince and Flair. Yet for Shelton, all they had was "Shelton cuts a promo". Why write promos for the guys who can do them just fine, and not do it for the guy who needs help with them?

Benjamin's skills are highly ignored by the WWE, and frankly it's a shame. Hois wrestling is some of the best around, and a feud between him and Kurt Angel would generate some great real wrestling. I hope thw WWE remembers how great Benjamin is and gives him the respect he deserves.

That last thought is actually a good idea. Too bad Raw's Uncreative team can't think of something that obvious.
