List any comics cartoonists who created, or was involved in, an animated cartoon (or vice versa). And I do not count animated adaption of comic-strips (like "Baby Blues")

Jim Davis and Charles Chultz come to mind. Both of their comics are perhaps remembered as much for their animated incarnations as the comics.

I guess we can now add Aron Mcgrudder to the list as well.

Bill Plympton did political cartoons (and various other strips I bet) before he got into doing the independent animation he's doing now. His cartoons themselves have a very illustrative quality to them.

Osamu Tezuka did manga (Japanese comics) before taking on the field of animation.
