Eh.... they just started an anime club at my college. Don't know if I'll join or not, though.

We meet most Fridays in the semester when there isn't something taking up all the rooms. What is your question?

I'm a member/ unofficial officer in my local college's anime club (unooffial meaning I'm involved in some planning / desicions but I'm not enrolled in the college so I'm not allowed to hold a position)

and it's quite fun, but I wish we had more time to show stuff. And more cross-tastes shows that don't alienate large portions of our audience. Best attendance was when we were showing One Piece and Guu back-toback (but both became licensed so we had to stop showing them)

I almost joined an anime club here, Vision of Anime, but I went to one meeting and they all seemed so close and I just felt like a weird outsider. =/

I'm still debating whether or not I should join though, 'cause they play nifty titles and it would be nice to get to know more of Milwaukee's otaku crowd.

Edit: And so I did join. I'm very happy that I did, too. =D

I run the anime club at the Media Play where I work. We meet the third Friday of every month.

I started/ran an anime club out of my high school about two years ago. It was pretty fun. They couldn't get a sponsor this year so they disbanded for a while, but a comic book shop opened up nearby so they're holding meetings there now. I drop by every now and then when my college/work schedule permits.

I use to be in an anime college club, but stopped coming because everyone there was too fickle and got pissed when I supplied older anime titles. I couldn't stand them as they always booed Master Keaton, Ghost in the Shell 2 and Area 88. It's okay if you don't like it, but don't be a jerk and ruin it for everyone else.

If you join one, make sure you enjoy it and that you fit in there. I didn't and as a result I can't stand to be around most anime fans because they mostly have FMA and Rurouni Kenshin on the brain and never open themselves to other titles.

I am a member of an anime club at a college in Colorado Springs, but I don't get to attend to often because I live so far away.

I am also trying to find out about trying the anime club that is running at a media play nearby, they meet every friday, but I haven't even been able to find out what they are showing currently at that club because whenever I call they give me this poor costumer service like 'call back in an hour', so I wait an hour, call back and get the same thing. I believe that's one Friday of every month. They really need to work on their costumer service though. Geez.

I'm a member of two anime clubs in Winnipeg: the Japanese Animation Association of Winnipeg (http://www.jaaw.ca) and the Winnipeg Anime Club (http://www.wpganime.ca). Due to my university schedules, I can't attend JAAW meetings regularly but WAC meetings are held every Saturday at an internet cafe so I can attend that.

The JAAW meetings held at the University of Winnipeg had recently gone under a strict policy change meaning nobody is allowed in without a pass and anyone who wanted to leave during a showing had to use the rear exit theatre door instead of the front. Games are held at the halfway point of the meetings for an hour then we usually finish up with a movie or birthday special. :) Oh, and card games like Yu-Gi-Oh! and other anime like games are forbidden since they cause people to act rowdy!

The WAC meetings are much more lenient but have a very strict registration policy. If you're going to attend a meeting, you have to buy a card and show your card at every meeting, period. No card, no stay! EVERYONE buys a card, including committee members. I'm Vice President of this club and I have to buy my own card too. If I don't have my card or I can't pay for it, I lose my position, period. We tend to have a lot of technical difficulties with our equipment too. Sometimes our PC-DVD drive burns out and we may have to end meetings early which means certain shows have to get postponed till the week after minus any additional DVD burnouts.

They booed Master Keaton? Screw them then! You can surely find anime clubs that have better tolerance towards various titles.

'Lo, new here. :) I'm looking for an anime club in or near Providence, RI. I might be able to go as far as Boston. I know there's one at Brown University, but I'm in my 30's and would feel a bit weird in a college group. ;) Anyone have info?

Thanks!
