View Full Version : Creator Blogs?
Hey,
I've had some great fun reading Mike Wieringo's blog (http://www.mikewieringo.com/html/Blog.htm) and seeing his various sketches of characters I've never seen him draw before. As a big fan of his work, I get a kick out of seeing his raw pencils. He also seems like a laid back, relaxed guy who doesn't shove his opinion down your throat.
Any of you guys read any creator blogs? Who's do you read?

The best way to discover new comics blogs is to look on the right or left side of the page on blogs you do visit, which is generally where you can find links to other comics blogs. That's where Blogspot and a lot of other blog sites tend to group links.
A good example is The Beat (http://209.198.111.165/thebeat/), the comics news blog run by Heidi MacDonald, former (and maybe current, I'm not sure) Vertigo editor. Look at the right-hand side of the page, scroll down, and you'll find a veritable cornucopia of comics-related blogs, including many run by creators. The Beat's a great resource for creator blogs, and checking out some of those blogs will in turn lead you to new places.
Some notable creator blogs include Wieringo (http://www.mikewieringo.com/html/Blog.htm), who has already been mentiond, Peter David (http://peterdavid.malibulist.com/), Christopher Priest (http://www.phonogram.us/admin/logs/), the Jim Lee/Wildstorm blog (http://gelatometti2.blogspot.com/), Warren Ellis (http://www.warrenellis.com/) (links to his main site, which has a blog of its own plus a link to his Live Journal for more informal rantings), Brian K. Vaughan (http://bkv.tv/pages/blog), Brian Wood (http://www.livejournal.com/users/brianwood/), Stuart Immonen (http://www.livejournal.com/users/stuartimmonen/), and Neil Gaiman (http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/journal.asp).
FYI, the above links may very well contain risque content, as well as *gasp* political content. So, as always, click at your own risk.

Bill Willingham (http://www.billwillingham.com) doesn't have a blog so much as a page. However, he does have a forum, so there's chances for author-interaction there. He used to have updates for individual issues of Fables and such when they came out and people could comment but I think that's been absorbed into the boards.
