I have a question about the movie
I just bought the dvd, and its a great movie. But I have a couple of questions. I dont mind suspending belief on how the Phantasm dissapears with the smoke, cause Batman kind of does the same thing when he disappears in the darkness. However, at the end when the Phantasm(Angela or whatever her name was) takes the Joker with her when she disappears, did the tv show ever explain how the Joker came back. Or are the movies technically separate from the show and any other movie?

Well, the movie had to be seperate from the series in that it didn't kill off any important characters.
So MOTP's ending is kinda like the ending of The Laughing Fish, where the Joker should be dead, but somehow manages to come back.

that always bothered me about motp. they should have made it more clear on the jokers fate at the end, also they never showed how batman cleared his name. those 2 unanswered qs still bug me, but its still the best batman movie ever made, period. PEACE!!!!!

yea, i was wondering that too. i figure that somehow the video joker took at sal's house got released or something like that. or maybe batman picked up the phantasm's mask, because she wasnt wearing it at the end, and turned it in

The death of Joker is a tradition. He has "died" many times in the comics and in the series. This is just another case.

...and they rarely explain how he did it, he's just kinda creepy that way.

Actually, there was a sequel to this movie printed in BATMAN & ROBIN ADVENTURES ANNUAL #1 called "Shadow of the Phantasm" (I think). And they explained it - so here ya go - in spoiler form:
When Andrea created the mist around here, there was a manhole right beside her she climbed into, and down. Down in the sewer she was about to kill the Joker when she realized it was pointless since Joker was no longer the man he once was. When the explosion went off, it caused a tidal wave in the swer washing Joker away. And Gordan helped clear Batman of the charges.
I hope that helps.

Read the novelization of Mask of the Phantasm (if you can find it). Someone got a picture of the Phantasm during one of the murders, and the press labeled gave her the name "the Phantasm" by the end of the book. So there was proof that Batman didn't do it.

Well, I'm assuming it's becuase the annual didn't have the print run of the regular comics. Annuals usually sell anywheres from 30% - 50% of their regular comic's print run. Meaning that if BATMAN ADVENTURES sold 17,000 copies a month, then only 8500 annuals at the most would be printed. There are some exceptions. Some annuals tend to be more popular than others for example. I hear this annual was under-printed and poorly publicized - hence the lack of knowledge of about it, probably.
