Previously, on Power Rangers SPD!
In the year 2025, Space Patrol Delta defends Earth from criminal threats. A-Squad was the prime team, but went MIA on a mission. B-Squad has had to take up the mantle of Power Rangers, and aided by a force from the future, their shadowy commander, and a feline female, the Power Rangers SPD face off against Emperor Gruumm and Broodwing, two opposing forces both set out to destroy the Earth!
This final arc, on Power Rangers SPD!
The Command Center gets a distress call... A-Squad has returned! A joyous moment for all, B-Squad gets a chance at a more normal life while A-Squad takes back the mantle of Power Rangers SPD. The forces of evil won't like this, and with the threat of The Magnificence looming overhead, Emperor Gruumm and Broodwing may have their wishes of defeating the Rangers.
SPD Datafile #1
According to the commercials, A-Squad has returned, and we see them unmorphed for the first time. To break down the color assignments, we now have our first female Red Ranger (Japan never had one), our third male Yellow Ranger (Tideus and Dustin preceding), our third African-American Green Ranger (Damon and Joel), our fourteenth alien Ranger, Blue (The Rangers of Aquitar, Trey of Trifora, The Phantom Ranger, Andros, Karone, Maya, Trip, Anubis, Kat), and I ain't even gonna count Pinks.
SPD Datafile #2
Multiple reports and interviews show that "Resurrection" is really a major lead in to the two-part series finalé, hence the combined talkback. Also, multiple reports show we're gonna have a nice New Zealand Megazord fight to look forward to.

Hey, I posted it within the day, and given how much PR's schedule has been crazy, early is good.
But... as proof of how crazy the schedule is, I set my VCR to record 7.0PM on ABCFamily today... I'll be able to catch it tomorrow morning at least.

This is going to be some ride, I don't PR has had this much hype for a finale since Journey`s end!
Wow. The first half was dull. Where was the resurrection, anyway?
The preview for Endings is looking pretty sweet, though. I'm sure it will more than make up for this ep. 2/5.

Resurrection: A decent episode, not much action in the first half, and A-Squad didn't even appear until late in act 3, but it's the ending that counts.
3/5.

Well then, Wormhole is out... I think it still deserves a 5XX number though (as I think Knux Five would agree with based on the episode numbers for this thread). It is an episode with a major continuity problem, but we can't just throw it away, can we? Otherwise, we'll eventually end up like those who insist A Season to Remember isn't cannon because MMPR era communicators aren't used any more. Actual episode, yes. Good episode, no. To each his own though...
Resurrection wasn't really that great, but still good. Jack revisiting his roots with a very different perspective not only is a good "wrap-around" type of style for the ending (which I haven't really seen in PR since The Fate of Lightspeed), plus it shows Jack's character development in direct contrast to his old self. It didn't really go anywhere though.
Bridge's buttery scene was great... Too bad we've only got four more episodes with Bridge (assuming two team-up episodes next year).
The title and promos were misleading...
They over did the "the red ranger's a girl" thing. One surprised comment from Sky to follow-up with his attitude from Beginnings would have been okay, but that much surprise just completely takes away the special moment for me.
Episode rating: B+ (It's really buttery)
Current schedule (http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/prstuff/prgrid.html):
1536 - Resurrection (TD: Fri Nov 4, 7PM) (ABC Fam: Nov. 5, 10AM)
1537 - Endings, Part 1 (TD: Nov. 7, 7PM) (ABC Fam: Nov. 12, 10AM)
1538 - Endings, Part 2 (TD: Nov. 14, 8:30 PM) (ABC Fam: Nov. 19, 10:30 AM)
1532 - Wormhole (DVD: SPD V4 & V5: Dec 6)
Reruns over the next three weeks:
ABC Family: SPD (lots), NS (Weekday Mornings).

Wormhole was never meant to fit in continuity. They designed it to be just like Sentai team ups completely out of continuity to the show and totally ilrelevant.
With the show only getting 32 eps next year due to Kalish stealing from Mystic Force's budget to pay for the garbage in SPD and the fact* that the actors are telling the fans to communicate with the production company to demand a team up, I highly doubt a team up will exist next year.
*What I have heard others say.
As for Bridge's buttery line, wasn't funny the first time, and it should have been left to one time if it isn't going to be a recurring character trait, but to use it once wait to the end to use it again that just smacks of stupidity.

Resurrection was a pretty lame episode. Not only did it feel vastly rushed, but characters were... well, out of character. Mora (when did she return?) seemed to be nothing more than a mere zombie rather than a little snotty brat. Jack just seemed like a total *** out of no where. And the monsters were defeated so easily. I hope the last 2 episodes are much better because I have a feeling this should have been a 5 parter rather than 3.
BTW, when does DekaBright's SPD character come in?

Wormhole was never meant to fit in continuity. They designed it to be just like Sentai team ups completely out of continuity to the show and totally ilrelevant.
One way that people have thought of to fit "Wormhole" into continuity is by placing it between the two scenes in "Badge" where Morgana gets turned back into Mora, and when she goes into the forbidden room to have a look at the Magnificence. That idea rubbed me the wrong way at first, but it I'm willing to roll with it now.

I saw how I could relate to him since I've personally been compelled to go toe to toe with higher-ups like that too. (Say, teachers.) I don't think I would have told Cruger that it's none of his business what I was doing though.

" It buttery"
*wiggles fingers*
The first and second act was some what dull(except for the Bridge scene). The pressure that Jack was under and the fact he wanted a regular life should have been handle in last week episode instead of today. The third act however was good. From looks of the promo we finally going to see SPD Rangers without their helmet. Hopefully we will find out about Krueger wife and the Magnifice origin too.

Yeah I really liked the Bridge "buttery" scene too. Amazing how his character has really grown on me all season. Nice too that he was the only one who "questioned A squads easy return". Only to be immediately dismissed by Jack.
I had the rest figured out after Grumm's "destruction from within" comment several episodes ago. A Squad's being under control wasn't too hard to figure out since they were "missing" all season.
My only curiousity is will B squad really "miss" Crueger since he obviously dumped on them once A Squad was back. But they'll rally and go after him anyway.
Though I'm surprised Kat didn't prepare for the possible "turning" of A squad in advance. Since she's super pragmatic in most ways. Or has she and we'll find out next ep??
An uneven series now picks up speed towards the ending.
And will we ever get to see "Wormhole" without buying the DVD??

Heeelllooo Nurse :nurse: .
After rewatching Resurrection again, I realized something. In the episode Jack has problem with wanting a personal life and this let him to crash with Krueger. I found it odd that this was left for one of the final episodes. So I though about it what if Jack attitude has something to do with A-Squad turning evil? Allow me to explain. A-Squad Rangers wanted to do other stuff(like Jack did) like go to the movies or buy a house, start a family etc..But they beign A-Squad rangers the best of best could'nt do this kind of things because they had their ranger responsabilities. Maybe this is the reason why they turn evil after all we seen this on regular cops too who sell everything they vow to do, "protect and serve" , just so they could have an easy life. So maybe A-Squad did the same thing after all being good is hard while beign evil is easy. This also explain why Bridge saw their auras different in the first episode before Grumm arrives.Their auras were evil now not good, then again Bridge power is somewhat confusing and my teory might be wrong.

Mora (when did she return?) seemed to be nothing more than a mere zombie rather than a little snotty brat. She went back to Mora in the same ep she stole some special synthesized synthesizing orange stuff. And the reason she is a zombie is because the Magnificense put the mental wammy on her, now she is brainwashed just like Grumm.

Are we SURE BK "robbed Peter to pay Paul" in regards to SPD as the reason MF is 32 episodes -- or is that just a consensus of speculation among the fandom?
I can see the need to end a PR season at a decent time on ABC Kids as the reason to shorten the season. Right now, ep #38 (if Wormhole does indeed get shown) would be on ABC in late Jan. or early Feb.

The chances of Bright appearing in SPD are somewhere between slim and none, and considering Bright wasn't in the "Endings, Part I" promo (This season, promos have been the best indicator of new Rangers appearing), slim's fixin to leave town in about two weeks.
Chad Bonin
11-06-2005, 08:58 PM
Well, all previous new Rangers were story-specific (Cat Ranger was the focus of "Katastrophe", Orange Ranger was the focus of "Boom", Shadow Ranger was the focus of "Shadow", and Omega was the focus of "Messenger").
Bright could easily be a last second thing.
Say that Kat walks in on the A-Squad facing off against Doggie, morphs into Cat Ranger, is defeated/time runs out. She sends the B-Squad to track down the A-Squad, Shadow ends up facing off against Gruumm, and Kat needs two heroes to take down a Broodwing monster- She saw that Anubis hired Jack on a whim based on his good deeds, and she enlists Ally on the same lines, and gives Boom his long awaited Orange Ranger status.
Thusly, fights would be Shadow VS Gruumm (which we know B-Squad joins later, or at least appears on the ship), B-Squad VS A-Squad, and Orange and Bright versus some Broodwing grunts attacking SPD or something.

Endings, Part 1:
A-Squad's capture was a little sudden for me. Given all the time spent building to this moment, I'm sad it took B-Squad only a single episode to take them down (and while taking down Broodwing and two MotDs too).
This episode was great, but to busy to be excellent. A-Squad and Broodwing should have each had their own episodes.
Glad to see some non-stock footage, not just standing there morphin' action. I can't recall a battle field morph involving the rangers moving since PRLR when they would occationally leap through a floating shield like in their standard morph (I might be wrong about that being the most recent time though). Always a treat to see the rangers without their helmets too. However, it seemed a little more than odd that their helmets just disappeared after they got their asses kicked. Don't they usually demorph when that happens?

There was some nice stuff for fans (all the helmetless stuff), some idiotic stuff (the Delta Squad Megazord was destroyed, not Delta Command Megazord), some WTF (So Omni, the character referenced in the PRESS RELEASE, finally appears and apparently wasn't renamed Broodwing).
I can't recall a battle field morph involving the rangers moving since PRLR when they would occationally leap through a floating shield like in their standard morph (I might be wrong about that being the most recent time though).I know DinoThunder did it at least once, most notable Kira in the Funky Fisherman episode. She did her call, touched her morpher, and it pretty much did the reverse of the "shatter" that the DT suits did when demorphing; shards flew up and formed the suit.
But that morph seemed too much like the one in the Dekamovie. The Rangers are being shot at, so they morph and backflip, jumping out of the blast...
Seriously, there was a lot of crap thrown in there that didn't make sense... SPD seems to have the problem of "Let's blow all the money we can, create massive plot holes, but occassionally throw the one reference to the past in an episode to keep fans quiet. Oh, and let's throw an explosion here and here. And ignore the Battlizer."

Okay they didnt explain why they turn evil but if you watch Ressurection or read my teory below is somewhat obviuos why.

The episode feel somewhat rush(where was Mora?) but at least we got some answers like what happened to Krueger wife or Omni or the magnificense where ever it could talk or not.

I had this thought that since Cruger broke one of Gruumm's horns, he'll probably break the other one when they throw down in the next episode.
I was discussing this with a friend, and I even learned something from her. It has to do with the eyes of daruma dolls. Here's what she tells me about them:
It's like a good luck charm, based on the story of a man who meditated for enlightenment for so long he lost the use of his limbs, so the dolls based on him are vaguely pear-shaped, and the eyes are never colored in. When you start an important venture, you paint one eye onto the doll, and when the venture is finished, you paint the other eye.
So if Cruger does break Gruumm's other horn, that would be very symbolic.

My guess would be that it is a move to bump up ratings for the crucial holiday season. Those three shows probably get the highest ratings just due to the fact that they are the newest. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the older seasons return in the Winter.

Oh, side question. Is "I'm Dreaming Of A White Ranger" or the Zeo Holiday episode airing anytime in the winter?I don't have access to the password protected ABC Family & Toon Disney press site, so you might want to check there. That said, most secondary sources (i.e. Burg and a few posts at RB) seem to indicate that it won't air.
Burgundy Ranger's "Jetix Highlights (http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/prstuff/jetix.html)" page has the following MM episodes set to air in December marathons: Day of the Dumpster, Gung Ho!, Island of Illusion, I & II, and Second Chance (all on Dec. 5th, except for SC, which is Dec. 9th).
I'm guessing that will be all we see of MM-WF until at least 2006. Burg posted this:
They're down to 7 PRG slots a week now -- 5 on ABCFam and 2 on TD -- and they're both showing PRNS. The recent changes have all resulted in the removal of non-Disney-controlled series (MM, Space, LR and TF). Pattern? Now, we have this. Fam's December schedule is out. When NS ends its run on PRG, guess what's next? Yup. DT.I haven't seen the schedule, but it sounds like we won't get anything other than NS-SPD for a while.
Either way, we already missed out on the Halloween episodes that were completely ignored this year. Plus, I'm also worried that they won't air the Christmas episode of The Tick.
And, yeah, this wouldn't hurt as much if we had DVDs.

Endings Part 2:
This episode was great. Period. A+
I'll admit, I'm tired of the "lets make it look like someone's dead" game, but other than that, I have no complaints.
DekaBright/Nova ranger came out of nowhere. Too bad we didn't get Gold. Nine rangers in a single season (not counting team-ups of course) is still a record though.
Was it just me, or did Piggy get some kind of divine warning? Great scene and very welcome.
I loved the way Sky was asked if he'd follow Syd into battle; it established that he no longer looks down on female rangers, while not being completely obvious. Bridge got promoted to Blue! So, who's the new green ranger? That would have been nice to establish...
The final scene was great. Not only do we get a great conclusion to both Jack and Sky's character & career development, but also the pleasure of knowing the rangers will continue the fight (going out on a morph was great). As far as I can recall, this has only happened this way in LR and TF, both fitting considering all of these groups were public servants.
PRMF looks like another series with a new approach. I'm excited and can't wait until February. Oh, wait, I have five and a half weeks off for Christmas vacation, I can wait for February...
By the way, Bruce said that Wormhole fits within another episode. I don't buy that because Mora was singing about being glad to be a little girl again when she went to see Omni in Badge. Technically Wormhole can fit in Badge, but it just doesn't flow right.

I just watched resurection - endings for the first time, wow i really enjoyed them, this finale was trully spectacular, i really enjoyed how they did all of it, my only gripes are:
doggie/wife/grumm just "surviving" the implosion,
the magnificense went out a little too quickly to be referenced in so many episodes, i still don't know what he is, it seemed like a weapon/giant monster but the way grumm talked about him throughout the show it seemed like he was a more powerful character.
when they were about to be "killed" in the space ship it was only a few crybots, even at spd headquarters later on the same episode they were fighting way more crybots.
the a squad fight could have been a little better, and why didn't we see the battlizer?
other than those things i loved the episode.

I had this thought that since Cruger broke one of Gruumm's horns, he'll probably break the other one when they throw down in the next episode.
Well, looks like you got your wish! To quote Cruger, "Now they match!" It was just completely and totally badass . . . Gruumm gets owned, but we know Cruger wouldn't kill him, and then *SHING!* and the other horn goes flying. It was great . . .

My thoughts:
-Nova Ranger was a nice surprise.
-Mora and Grumm getting OWNED by Cruger = AWESOME!
-Piggy getting owned by Mother Nature = :p
-Human Sam!
-B Squad stays B-Squad, Sky's Red, and we have no Green. Huh.
Only real complaint is the lack of Kat Ranger. Overall: A. Best finale since LG.

Ah, Endings Part 2. What I sum up as "Power Rangers SPD: Missed Oppurtunities".
Endings could have easily been three full parts, no reason for "Resurrection" to have had that half of nothingness.
So, Mora/Morgana. We never got what was up with her character, what she was originally, how she hooked up with Gruumm, etc.
Boom- I swear, he shoulda been standing there at the end wearing a green (or even better, orange) SPD Uniform with the others.
Kat- She had some time left on her morpher, they had the suit...
Nova Ranger and Omega Ranger- Nice, out of nowhere, and we get to see their unmorphed forms as well!
The SPD Reserves- Man, some of the SPD Cadets were cool, and seeing the Dekaranger forums of Silverback and Birdie, along with some other Dekaversions, was just nice.
Piggy's Beginning- One of the few times a character has (potentially) been talking to a higher being, with hilarious results. I love how the first explosion in Endings 2 is... Piggy's business.
Zord Fight- When it was original, it was good, but there were obviously a lot of stock footage from Dekaranger.
Battlizer? The only use of powers was Jack's failed attempts at escaping?

It wasn't exactly a wish I had. It was more of a prediction. Plus I liked that line "now they match". I also knew that Mora and Gruumm (well, at least Mora) would ended up being "carded" in the finale. I was hoping Gruumm would go out better though. I definitely got a kick out of how Mora got owned by Doggie.

A great and novel way to end a series. If a bit rushed.
Dekabright/Nova nice even if it was out of the blue
I loved seeing the "reinforcements' from SPD. I'd hoped we'd see Sgt Silverback again.
I too wondered why Kat didn't use whatever time was left on her "temporary" Morpher.
Nice turn around for Piggy to be the one to free the Rangers. I'd originally thought that they "let" themselves be captured to use their native powers to get free
The Magnificence was taken down too quickly to suit me.
That reappearance of Grumm's was not unexpected and I thought a bit lame.
Nice to see Isinia finally. But I've wondered about Kat potentially having some hidden romantic feelings about Doggie.
Jack's quitting worked well with his character. And Sky finally got to become the Red Ranger. And with Bridge moving up to Blue they ought to have shown who got to be Green. Heck they could've brought Sophie back from space for that.
And to end the show doing a morphing sequence was just awesome.
A great ending to an uneven season.
Still the show was good. But they need to work on episode timing and pacing. Maybe for Mystic Force they'll get it worked out

Now, my REAL review of this episode.
I think the only thing about this one that left me cold is Nova Ranger. They probably should have just had Kat morph into Cat Ranger. I'm thinking that since they used Nova Ranger, they could have at least just found a way to throw in her real name somewhere along the way, but I don't know.
I liked the Shadow Ranger vs. Mora and her monsters scene, but I see some people have made complaints about how Cruger just slashed up the drawings instead of judging them and containing them in cards. I'd figure it's okay that he got rid of them the way he did, since they didn't really materialize fully. Then it was classic how Cruger owns Mora, even though I agree that she deserved a more severe punishment than the one she got. I somehow figured she'd end up getting "carded" though.
Sky being promoted to Red Ranger is kind of understandable. I think I'll forgive Bridge becoming a Blue Ranger if they don't have a team-up next year. If they do have a team-up next year though, I'd like to think that they'd have a good way around it. Perhaps they'll pull another "Wormhole" where the S.P.D. Rangers during their own series go back in time to help the Mystic Rangers. However, even if there isn't a team-up next year, I hope Mystic will at least have at least some minor references to the past.

Decent finale. I'll write more later on.

Does anyone know when Endings Part 1 and 2 will air again on ABC Family? I seem to have set my VCR for PM instead of AM.

Since it's not scheduled for any of the special events in December, my guess is that it won't be on again until the regular rotation gets there, which should be around the second week of January.

Skimmed through the episode a few times.
The entirity of SPD, or at least notable (non-cadets) to appear in the three parts of the finalé...
B-Squad
Red: Jack, Sky
Blue: Sky, Bridge
Green: Bridge
Yellow: Z
Pink: Syd
A-Squad
Red: Charlie
Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow
Commanders
Fowler Birdie, Seargent Silverback, and their Deka equivalents, along with Dekared's original boss (the octopus guy) and successor (the cat guy)
Forces From The Future
Omega: Sam (who we actually see unmorphed!)
Nova
SPD Employees
Shadow: Anubis Cruger
Cat: Dr. Katherine Manx
Orange (?): Boom
... and that random feline doctor.
Can't forget the two R.I.C.'s (B-Squad's and Sgt. Silverbacks).
And appearances by the Delta Squad Megazord (destroyed by Omni The Magnificence), Omegamax Cycle (once again, destroyed), Delta Command Megazord (only had interior damaged), SWAT Megazord (SURVIVED!), A-Squad Megazord (Destroyed by B-Squad), the SWAT Truck, the SWAT Armors, but conspicuously not the Battlizer.

I thought the A-Squad Zord destroyed the Delta Squad Megazord? It is kind of odd that they kind of forgot about the Battlizer towards the end of the series.
Overall, there was a lot crammed into the final two episodes, but that kept it action packed. I kind of liked how they crammed pretty much every character from the series into the finale as well (even if they didn't get to do much more than fight bots).

Actually, I couldn't remember what destroyed the Delta Squad Megazord, but logic does dictate that it was the A-Squad Megazord.
... and, despite Nova showing up, we didn't get a return of Cat Ranger or even the existence of Orange Ranger.
What Would Knux Do?
With the Troobian forces busting down the Command Center, have Kat reveal that she's been working on mass-produced disposable morphers, like her Cat Ranger one. Her pet project was one for Boom... the Orange Ranger. Realizing that they either fight now or die, both Kat and Boom morph.
EXPLAIN THE DAMN MAGNIFICENCE, OMNI, TROOBIANS, MORA/MORGANA, A-SQUAD'S DECISION, AND GRUUMM. Say that Emperor Gruumm was conquering all by himself, but ran into Omni The Magnificence and got brainwashed. Gruumm, while recruiting people for his "Troobian" army, conquered a planet with Morgana on it. She wanted youth, he offered it to her in exchange for working for him. Finally, say that A-Squad were brainwashed by Gruumm on a mission before SPD started, were sleeper agents, and then were called off to take over other planets and leave Earth defenseless so Gruumm could steal from it to create Omni's mech/monster body.
Battlizer! Gaht dang, you HAVE IT. I don't think Jack used it more than five times, and given that it was defeated by SWAT technology in it's second appearance definitely make it seem as one of the weakest SWAT armors. Say that the SWAT armor was destroyed in the battle with A-Squad, and Jack had to resort to Battlizer to take down some of the Troobian forces in the final battle.
Final Morph. To get around budget costs of hiring speaking cameos, have Omega and Nova's VAs VA while they're unmorphed for one shot. The big group "SPD Emergency!". Jack, Sky, Syd, Bridge, Z, Anubis, Kat, Boom, Sam, and Nova. The first seven get morphs, while the final three just pose.
The End. Okay, I loved how it ends on a morph. But there's no reason that, since Ranger 3/Green seems to be vacant (given that Bridge and Sky moved up in the ranks), we didn't see, say, Boom as Ranger 3/Orange.

I have the entire December schedule, and the last weekday morning rerun listed is ep #27 "SWAT, II" on Fri Dec 30.
The early Jan. schedules show a complete pre-emption of the Jetix block on Mon Jan 2. So (doing quick calendar math) that puts eps 28-31 on the rest of that week, 33-37 the week after, then the finale 38-Endings, II on Mon Jan 16.
This all can, of course, change at the drop of a hat.

I'm with you on the Magnificence, Mora/Morgana, and A-Squad's decision.
Mora/Morgana seemed like an interesting character. I really would have liked to know what it is about Morgana that she'd want to be a kid again. Maybe she comes from a race where there are people with that characteristic. Also, I'd have liked to know how she hooked up with Gruumm in the first place.
What possessed A-Squad to hook up with Gruumm in the first place? Enough said.
