Premieres at 8 AM EDT
Last time: Bakura willingly gave Yugi back the God Cards, but he refused to give him the Millenium Ring. Yugi wondered why, but we didnt have to wait long to find out as Bakura attacked Kaiba Corp and drew Seto into a duel for his brothers soul (which had been sent to the Shadow Realm). During the duel Kaiba saw flashbacks to Egypt of a young maiden and the Blue Eyes White Dragon. Sensing that he had Kaiba's attention, Bakura gave him the Millenium Eye, and he told Kaiba to journey to Egypt if he wanted to learn more about his bond with the Blue Eyes White dragon. Meanwhile Joey, Tea, and Tristan caught up with Yugi at the airport, and the 4 took off for Egypt.

According to the intro I just watched, the title of this final arc is 'Dawn of the Duel', not 'Dawn of the Duelist'.

Good episode. Voices weren't too bad, and the names seemed to make sense when spoken. I still don't think Bakura's voice fits, especially his Thief version. Oh, and I just laughed at the altered dialog coming from Shimon at the end of the episode there. It reminded me of how he truly acted when he saw Vivian, yet in the dub they changed it to him wanting to see anothe duel.

Mahad's voice was perfect, but I'm not too sure about Akhenaton (In the Japanese version, the name is Akunadin and in the english Shonen Jump manga, it's Akhenadin). And it's nice to see the Ishtars again. Thankfully, Marik is still good and thus his voice isn't annoying anymore.

MALIK! MALIK! MALIK! IT'S MALIK! YAYAYAYAYAYAY! This is why I've been anticipating this episode, cuz' I'd know Malik would appear! Granted, it's only for like a minute or so, but still!
And YOSH, his voice is just what I had actually hoped it would be, he retained his, what I like to call, "Good Namu" voice because that voice makes him sound sexy and he sounded sexy here. HEEEEEEEEEEEE.
In general, I loved this episode. Seeing them six priests and Pharoah Yugi in all it's glory is nice in my opinion!
But what's MORE important is that Malik appeared!!!:D

So Shadi is the one who's going to allow the crew into Pharoah's memories in the Anime. That's different. It's also a twist to see that Shadi is a spirit, but why wasn't he sucked back into the ancient times like Bakura was? The voices are good, but the few changes from the manga that I've seen aren't going that well with me. The manga always seems to end up being better.

It's funny how Shadi's Ancient self Shada has a different voice. Shadi is voiced by Wayne Grayson while Shada is voiced by Michael Alston Baley.

I admit, I, too like the manga approach more so then the anime. The voices are fine to me, too, but I do admit, Priest Seto seemed a bit awkward. Maybe Eric Stuart is so used to making Seto so jerk-ish that making him...well, less jerk-ish caused that little awkardness. Heh.
Oh, yea, and did anyone besides me kinda had this sort of smile on when Pharoah Yugi confusely said, "Uh...hi" to his people. I don't know, it was kinda hilarious and cute at the same time.

I just noticed. I looked back at the credits and Mike Pollock was listed. Aknahden sounded like Eggman from Sonic X, so I think Mike Pollock is the voice of Aknahden.

That is what some people said when this arc aired last year, however, you're just going to have to get used to it because a lot changes. This is probably the most changed of all the arcs. Also, there are things that are better off the way they were done in teh anime than in the manga.
the duel of destiny in the manga takes place AFTER Zork was defeated, even though he would have been locked in the puzzle with Atem, which makes no sense. In the anime, it takes place just before Zork wakes up, so it makes MORE sense there.

Was it just me or did the animation seem different? As for the episode itself it was pretty good. Bakura having followers was a surprised I always though he was common thief. It was good to see Ishizu again :nurse: . Oh and Marik was there too but didnt care much for him. Yugi grandpa no matter what form he takes is always funny.

Well, at last, things are starting to get interesting!:)
The funniest moment was Yami greeting everyone with "Uh...hi.":D
I also loved seeing lovely Ishizu again.:anime: :nurse:
I kinda cringe to think what evil Bakura has planned for Yami, as well as Yugi & the others. Guess we'll just have to wait till next week to find out.:)

Am I right in assuming the guy with Millenium Item-shaped holes in his body from the manga won't be appearing?

He appears in the Anime, but at a latter time. He first appears in episode 205 when regular Yugi, Joey, Tristan and Tea' have entered Ancient Egypt. They meet him in the market place. He doesn't keep the millenium items in his body like the manga though and he doesn't have the holes either.

Interesting. For a moment there, I thought there may have been pressure from US interests not to animate him at all, on account of the blackface look. (A smaller role might be the same result of this... It is why Brock left Pokemon for a while, this sort of co-production tendency.)

I gotta agree with all the Ishizu lovers here :nurse: . Yay. The Ancient Bakura is even eviler and cooler looking. I liked the "Duel Disk"-like guantlet that ancient Kaiba was wearing.

Out of all the girls on the show Ishizu is the most tolerable. I'm so glad they're finally airing this I've always wanted to see Yami in his pharaoh form for more than a few clips of an episode. After all that non sense from the last season I'm actually anticipating watching the show again. I would awlays just flick to the show every once in awhile to get a glimpse of Kaiba and Yami but now I can actually enjoy the whole show to an extent. Am I the only one that doesn't want yugi and his friends always around? I'd just like for once an entire episode to be about the Pharaoh without yugi's envolvement, I know he's part of him and a main character but he's really annoying. Anyway the episode was great I can't for the next one.

Yeah, for some reason the color scheme gets slightly more "earthy" during the Pharoah's Memory arc. Also the character designs seem to get slightly more mature looking in certain episodes (like this one.)
