Below the "TEAM HERO! PARKER DOES IT AGAIN!" headline in a Criminals in the Clouds screenshot (http://marvel.toonzone.net/spidey67/episode/criminalsclouds/) is a clipping which appears to be from October 8, 1968, when the St. Louis Cardinals were competing against the Detroit Tigers for the World Series. The newspaper reproduction is poor, but you can tell that Casey Stengel (who had retired as a manager in 1965) was discussing the two WS-contending baseball clubs (never mind Pete's football uniform).

The only problem is that Criminals... was first shown on October 5, 1968, according to TV.com (http://www.tv.com/spider-man-1967/criminals-in-the-clouds/episode/255238/summary.html). Either TV.com made a mistake and the episode was actually released on a later date, or Bakshi added the clipping after the ep's premiere. Bakshi may have tried to tidy some of his Spideys for the rerun market.

Well spotted!

It's more than likely that TV.com just has the date wrong, as they can be supplied by anyone contributing to the website. I'd like to see the source of where the airdate info comes from. Since airdates for far more recent network shows (Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends for example) still aren't known in their entirety, I'm willing to bet that the date is simply an incorrect guess.

There's lots of this going on with many internet episode guides; more often than not, whoever supplies the dates knows the season premiere date, and then simply fills the others in, usually and implausibly in production order.

Thanks to improvements in the Google search engine, here is the origin of that clipping -- Page 52 (http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F50915FF355C147493CBA9178BD95F4C8685F9) of The New York Times, October 9, 1968 (a Wednesday).
