I really like WF. The animation was great (well, the Joker didn't look quite right with the new design and all). The voice acting was right on (of course it was, we had Conroy and Daly at the helm). Lois was great too. Seeing her swoon over Supes, and then Bruce, was classic. I also liked seeing more of Bruce Wayne. In TNBA, Bruce wasn't highlighted as much as in B:TAS. But, even though he said he was taking Lois seriously, I still wasn't sure if he was acting that or genuine (in retrospect, I feel that he was genuine, especially after seeing BB's Out of the Past).
One note for Bruce, if the whole Batman thing wouldn't have worked out for him, there may have been a career in the NBA to use up his free time (he had like a 10 foot verticle jump in WF).
Of course, there's no new news here. Just wanted to air my comments about WF.
I also thought the Joker was funny as heck in WF.

What...? Oh, I'm sorry I got caught up staring at your avatar again. Stupid me. Hehe.

Agreed agreed and agreed once again. WF is an awesome movie, and set of Superman episodes. The story and character detail was done wonderfully for each character!

That's a very interesting point about Bruce and Lois too. It seems kind of weird with the Joker on the lose in a different city and Bruce isn't 100% sure why yet, how he would let his Bruce self become involved that seriously with a woman.

Maybe it's just a writing thing I'm looking into too deeply since it's only purpose was to make things more heated between Clark and Bruce. But it was still an interesting theory. :)

I really loved the animation on that episode TMS did an excellent job, especially in the nightclub scene in the climax of part 1. They did an excellent job with the lighting and the directing was superb. I really like how, in the Batman/Superman relationship, there was no trust from the very begining. Clark uses his X-Ray to discover Batman's identity. Batman trails Superman back to him home. It's great!

DG, I'm glad you brought up the animation in the night club scene. That was some of the best animation I've EVER seen. THe way flourescent and neon colors were used with the black backdrop was awesome. I rewound and watched that scene a number of times and never got tired of it.

I like how they didn't make the flourescent and neon lights so bright and gaudy. I like how they kicked them tinted a bit dark. I always dug the look on Superman's face after Batman throws him across the nightclub room and into a table. Man...I wish TMS was doing JL...

You know, even the simple things in "WF" were done well. One of which is the way Bats and Supes' capes would react to their movements. The way that was done gave the impression that they were heavier and more textured. When Batman jumped through the skylight into the night club, the way his cape slowly fell around his way quite dramatic. Heck, even the sound effects were top notch.
After seeing "WF" again, a TMS JL ep or 30 would be so incredible!
Hmmm. I wonder if Lois ever tried to pursue anything further with Bruce, or Bruce with Lois. That could have been an interesting subplot throughout TNBSA. Nothing else was ever mentioned of it, or elluded to, until BB "Out of the Past" when Bruce scrolled by the picture of Lois and got a devilish smirk. I wonder...

I agree with everything that's been said. WF is one of my favorites.I've watched it a million times and have never grown tired of it. Boy, I wish TMS did do JL. Why'd they use another company anyway? IMO,if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

After seeing the episode Cape and Cowl Conspiracy, this was my first full fledged exposure to the animated universe when WB aired this movie in prime time. It was so great, left such a positive impression on me, it was like reading your favorite comic book title for the first time or something. And I will never forget my surprise when I learned Mark Hamill was the Joker!

I have it on VHS but will more than likely wait until the DVD comes out before watching it again. If you saw how many DVDs I currently have that are unwatched, you would understand.

I never knew they aired World's Finest in prime-time. Interesting. They did the same with "Last Son Of Krypton" which was awesome in prime time. I can't to tget this DVD so I can tuck the VHS away. I really think WF just did a great job at making the prospects of the villian team up not cheesey. Heck - they ended up betraying each other in the end anyways! That was a great touch there. I can't really see Luthor and Joker as the honorable type.

It was on one Friday night. I don't know if it was a network thing, or if it was an indy channel airing it, but I think it was on our WB affiliate, but now that you mention that, I think they were independent here in Kansas City for a time, or they had UPN at one point. There was quite a merry-go-round with TV networks here when I first moved here, it's kinda hard to remember who was airing what!

Ah...interesting. I just don't remember seeing it advertised. Maybe I missed it somehow - but no matter. Another thing I like is how Part 2 wasn't really filler material, either. Usually in a three part story, the second part is boring filler. They fixed that in WF.

Yeah, it is a solid piece of work that holds together than most live action movies. I wish WB would dare to show it in prime time again! The last Batanimation I saw in prime time was the premier of Batman Beyond on a Sunday night. It's great to see Timm's animation in prime time on Cartoon Network, but I wish there was room for a show like JL on WB in the same quality as it is being done for the Cartoon Network.

WB wouldn't have the guts, although I think it would make great companion peice for ANGEL or SMALLVILLE. I think an hour of Superman episodes after SMALLVILLE would be a neat little two step for WB. Going from an excellent drama to one of the best animated series ever made.

Considering that they used to show Invasion America and that one time World's Finest was on in prime time (it was during the same time period as Invasion America), I wonder what changed? They seemed to go from supporting animation in prime time actively, and even had plans for an animated block of programming on Sunday night, to going to a network that shunned prime time animation like a disease. I know Invasion America wasn't the best show on Earth, but still, it was a step in the right direction, but since then they don't even seem to be trying to walk at all.

I think Invasion America got creamed in the ratings, as did the prime-time airings of Pinky and the Brain (gawd, I miss that!)... but the shows were put up against 60 Minutes, fertheluvapete! Of course they'd get creamed!

Still, I'm glad that WB did have the guts to treat us Batman fans to the BB premiere in prime time, even after the low ratings of the above shows.

(sadly) Narf....

Invasion America got whipped in the ratings. I watched the show once and awhile and caught the ratings from an IA site (still convinced to this day the show is stil on "hiatus") and less than 2 million people tuned in to watch it. It was beaten by the fledgling UPN, which was started in 1994 or 1995, I believe. IA got it's but whupped.

Friday seemed to be the night when they showed animaiton as well, Sunday, too. I can remember seeing commercials for P&TB on Friday and Sunday. And animation special on both days as well.

Gee, if Invasion America was on a cable channel and still had 2 million viewers, it would be considered a success!
