I actually intend to hunt down some of the complete collection/box sets of some older shows that I sorta missed/ignored the first time around. This probably has something to do with the fact that there's little in the way of new stuff comming down the pipe right now that interests me very much.

Uh, will that work?

Kiddy Grade. Could this be potentially one of the best anime in the last couple of years? If you enjoy the show, you'd probably like to know that FUNimation is re-releasing the entire series starting on November 22nd, and concluding on January 3rd. The great thing about this re-release is that it's half as many volumes, as opposed to the original release's ridiculous eight volumes with 3 episodes each.

As for me, I only saw three episodes of the show (in the MIDDLE of the run, no less), but with this re-release I'm going to give it another shot.
Currently I'm watching Cromartie. Just curious- are watching that on Comcast On Demand that you currently got?

Yeah, it's the only thing decent on Anime Network right now. What else is on the network currently? I don't get it myself. But yeah, I liked Cromartie too. The bizarre characters make that show. Smart writing helps, too.

I suppose I didn't answer the actual topic question before... the two best animes that I'm currently watching are Godannar and Kodocha, two shows that couldn't be any different from each other! ;)

Right now I'm diggin' these shows:
Bleach
Blood+
Black Cat
Shakugan no Shana (I thought it was stupid at first but ep. 3 was awesome!)

and I just got the Noir thinpak boxset, so I'm gonna' probably marathon that over the next two weekends. I've also been wanting get ahold of Tsubasa Chronicle now that all 26 episodes are complete and marathon that, and I might try to pick up the upcoming Chrono Crusade thinpak boxset.

As for shows on TV, I'm following Yu-Gi-Oh! GX here and there, and of course Naruto on Toonami (since it totally sucks now where it's at in Japan).

I recently gave up FMA and picked up Gungrave. I'm also nutso for Bo-Bobo. But that's about it. On my owned-but-haven't-watched-yet list is R.O.D. (tv series) and Last Exile. When I get home during the holidays my friends will likely subject me to a Bleach marathon, and I'm looking forward to that.

Lately I've been into 80s anime and I've only recently become aware of my subconcious penchant for romance anime. Touch and Maison Ikkoku scratched both itches. I also seem to have a strawberry theme going (props to anyone who spots it).

Well, there's RahXephon... and, that's it. I'm sorry; without Cartoon Network, there's lots that I'm missing out on, I'm sure. But, if I intended on buying the boxed set, I'd at least wait 'till next year (when I have loads of cash and don't have to worry so much about the cheaper domestic-based sets).

I love Naruto but I don't care much for the english dub voices. I think the Japan version is much better and despite the fillers they're at now I still love the original Japanese shows more.

I'm head over heals for BOBOBO thats some funny...

I really wanted to get into Get Backers and Saiyuki but after moving I lost my Anime Network, I'm still in therapy about that.

Currently I am full on to finishing InuYasha (tied with AYA for my fave anime ever), I am up to ep 152 I believe.

Netflix-wise I am on Mobile Suit Gundam (movie compilation 2 of 3) (my brother wanted to see the Japanese at all costs and so, rather than seeing the full series, we see the series combined into 3 films), and I am also really loving Wolf's Rain (next up is disc 3 of 7, but once we finish up the Gundam movie compilations we will use 2 of our 3 slots for Wolf's Rain, speeding it up drastically).

I am also in the slower process of seeing Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (seen up to ep 5, I believe, and loving every minute of it), One Piece (all Japanese all the time, enjoying it, but hoping some of the stuff it leaves to be desired will be cleared in with time and progress), Toukyou Mew Mew (also strictly Japanese, enjoying it, but really need to get watching again and hoping it gets a bit bigger, it feels less than intense in 99% of the fields I rate on most, but I do want to continue and finish it), Tsubasa Chronicle (incredible, absolutely thrilling and beautiful), and of course I am caught up with Pocket Monsters and still following it when Japan airs a new ep each week. Though Pocket Monsters leaves so much to be desired right now I don't even really look foward to seeing the new ep, they have so much oppertunity but they never use it right. X_X (and some of these characters are just being one or more of corny, annoying, forced on us, etc.)

Right now, I'm watching the last 10 episodes of 'F-Zero'. (The Japanese version, natch) It's actually very good, and it's kind of a shame the show didn't take off here. Ah well, perhaps it was for the best.

After I'm done with that, it's off to watch 'Space Pirate Captain Harlock: Endless Oddysey'. ^__________________^

D you'll not like naruto, to me it's pretty good almost like dbz, but hey you'll choice is you'll choice not mine.If you're referring to me, I actually don't dislike Naruto - in fact, the episodes before about episode 140 or so made it one of my favorite shows of all time (and way better than DBZ, IMO). It's just that... after that point in the series when the filler starts... *shudders*. Although I admit I haven't watched it in a little while, now - I might try to catch up this weekend to the Japanese version and see if it's getting any better.

Netflix-wise I am on Mobile Suit Gundam (movie compilation 2 of 3) (my brother wanted to see the Japanese at all costs and so, rather than seeing the full series, we see the series combined into 3 films) Actually, I much preffered the movie trilogy; not just because it's in the original language, but I just felt the pacing was a whole lot better, and the story focused so much more on the story and Amaro's little angst problems rather than all the actual machines and Gundam attatchments and stuff like the series did. And Amaro's angst >>> Gundam weaponry.

Also, you reminded me that I've got Tokyo Mew Mew to start watching! I went through a lot of pain and effort to "obtain" it subtitled, and then totally forgot about it once the new fall anime season started.

So... let's not make it out to be something hostile when it's not.

Besides, I'll bet once the big Zabuza fight rolls around on CN, he'll see things my way. ;)

The point is you're speaking in absolutes about art, which is nearly-pointless as it's totally subjective, not objective, barring serious raw technical problems that are universally accepted as having missed the mark.

In other words there is no point in arguing over it, so stop it. That's my official moderator word on the subject, so I suggest you follow it.

Relax man.

Dragonball Z is a great show and it's awesome to see it uncut on CN. Especially the fight between Goku and Vegeta.

IMO though... Dragonball Z is not he be all to end all Shonen Jump series. Not by a long shot.

Here's how I see it.

One Piece > Naruto > Rurouni Kenshin > Dragonball Z

I love DBZ, I'm certainly a fanboy of it but I like Naruto and Kenshin better and One Piece just rocks them all (in Japan). But this is merely my opinion. I can see you wont budge on DBZ. Just don't force your opinion on others.

The first list didn't included many series. It was just a short general list. If I looked into all or even most JUMP manga for that list it'd be not only tough to decide besides One Piece being #1 but it would be very very long.

I'm just not feel'n YYH is greater than Kenshin... just not feel'n that. I do like YYH but eh... I guess it's just not my type of shonen for some reason. I also find it hard to sit through Bleach these days. But YYH's new 5:30AM episodes are well worth taping. It's just great to see it again.

Also... Shaman King better than Dragonball? I can't buy that one. I just can't. Dragonball is a fantastic manga afterall and I don't think Shaman King is all that great.

KuwabaraTheMan

Yu Yu Hakusho is awesome, character driven stuff. Its also the most emotionaly powerful of all the Shonen Jump stories. Kenshin has some fun battles, and characters, but it isn't particularly deep compared to One Piece, YYH, Naruto, Bleach, or PoT.*gets stabbed by fanboys*

Dragonball is fantastic, but Shaman King is pretty good, too. I'm only ranking the best of the best here.

My order is this:

Yu Yu Hakusho-Inuyasha-Case Closed-Lupin the Third-Fullmetal Alchemist-Fruits Basket

I know I have a short list, but I'm basically into YYH ^_^. It's got everything a good show needs! It has comedy, action, drama, you can basically see these four guys in a real life situation; like I mean, Kuwabara is believable, like he could actaully be an actual person; as well as Yusuke. Hiei is like a gothic person that everyone knows in high school and tries to stay away from. Kurama is like that popular guy at school were all of the girls fan over ((me not being one of those fan girls; I don't really like Kurama too much for some reason ^_^;)). So they are like real and put into a situation or many situations that if a normal person was put in would react the same way as they would ^_^.

I like Inuyasha cause it's just a cool 'fair tale' like story and it's everyone's dream to get sucked into an adventure and escape one's life.

Case Closed just rocks because I love mysteries and love solving them, and those are pretty hard, some of them anyway.

Lupin the Third, well he's just cool ^_^.

Fullmetal Alchemist is well interesting because it is using an actual science and it's just very emotionally gripping and stuff ^_^. I watch it whenever I'm in a heart warming or tear jerking mood ^_^.

Fruits Basket is good because it's not too girly...I know I'm a girl but I kind of act like Kuwa sometimes and he's like manly ^_^;.....and I like it because I don't know...it's just cool to me ^_^.

But YYH tops my list ^_^.

The anime I'm currently seeing certainly have my interest. My likely top 5 that I most want to see afterward are also in my sig, although seeing some of those right now could be easier said than done (most isn't out in the US). In the future there are plenty more I'll want to see as well, like Naruto, Detective Conan, Perfect BLue, Metropolis, Appleseed, Steamboy, Memories, Full Metal Panic!, Full Metal Panic! FUMOFFU, Piano, D.N.Angel, Get Backers, The Big O, Last Exile, Angelic Layer, Love Hina, Kare Kano, .hack//SIGN, Great Teacher Onizuka, the list goes on. I also seriously want to see all of Pocket Monsters in Japanese. I've seen most of Advance Generation and some of what's before in Japanese, but not nearly enough. In fact, I missed a ton of Jouto in itself (long story). But I really need to see all of Kanto in Japanese, since I think it was easily the best part of the series, and most of what I have seen in it is the accursed English dub.

Well, ni-san here, my sister, and myself, are all seeing the same shows, sort of like a small family anime club. :anime: We just finished all of InuYasha (God am I despressed over its ending, but the news that a new series is gonna come out is a pick-me-up), and also recently finished Wolf's Rain (including the OVA). Now we are hard at work seeing Get Backers, I'm loving it, but I do wish they would lay off the Jesus and Judas talk unless they are gonna learn what they are talking about before they try to involve it. We also are planning to start watching my Ranma 1/2 Season 1 DVD Box Set which I got in the mail along with my Limited Edition InuYasha Season 2 early this month. After we finish Get Backers we are also planning on starting Last Exile. Ah the power of Netflix. :P
