With all the figure drawing from models I've been doing lately I thought it might be fun to cut loose with something sort of fun. So last night I decided to draw this super hero. It just came to me (maybe after watching X-men on Toon Disney). Anyway, I think he's probably a space alien, but he looks like he kind of has a bit of a Viking thing going on too.

I drew the picture on Acrylic paper (inked it with a micron) so there's a good possibility I might practice my painting on it, if so I'll think about posting it here.

Thanks for the input. By the way nothing corrects a mistake like a good needed eraser, and I've found it works really, really well on acrylic paper. I recomend it.

Thought maybe I'd have an arch villan for my hero to fight. Anyway, I'm probably going to ink and color him in to so I'll try to post the finished product later.

And tada here is the finished painting of the bad guy.

I opted to make this one large so that everyone could see the painting at full size without clicking on it.

I inked it with Speedball Acrylic ink which I've been using for a while. I found that the water color brush I had accidently let dry up worked really well in inking some of the lines. Even so when I got to some of the finer lines I opted for a very efficent micron pen that I've been using recently.

After the inking was all done I switched over to my trusty acrylic paint and went to work. I kept at it for what must have been an hour and a half. Mixing colors, then washing. And after all was said and done I applied gesso to the painting just for kicks.

I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
