www.comingsoon.net reports:
Dimension Films has acquired "Scary Movie 3: Episode 1 - Lord of the Brooms," a script written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, co-writers of the original "Scary Movie," which will go into production in March 2002, it was announced today by company co-chairman Bob Weinstein.
"Scary Movie 3: Episode 1 - Lord of the Brooms," is the story of an orphan who goes on a magical quest around the Earth and beyond to rid the world of evil.
The film will be released during Fall 2002. No casting has been announced.
"We are thrilled to be working on another incredibly clever, creative and hilarious script from Jason and Aaron, whose work on the original 'Scary Movie' film helped set the standard for outstanding parodies," said Weinstein. "This new project will expand our successful 'Scary Movie' franchise to include the world of broomsticks and spaceships."
Ugh....

I predict this one will flop miserably, and deservably so. How long can they keep this going before even the fans get sick of it?

Talk about beating a dead horse. Looks like making fun of Teen scream movies is going to be run into the ground.

It sounds like this has nothing to do with anything scary. It's just a parody of Star Wars, LOTR and Harry Potter that's using the "Scary Movie" name because of its...uh....wonderful reputation.

This movie will flop....and flop hard. It's not even gonna attempt to spoof scary movies. The only reason it has the cruddy Scary Movie moniker is becuase of the writers of the movie. And becuase the first two netted a cool $240 mill domestic.

Maybe they should drop the Scary Movie part so it stands a chance? I'm all for a Harry Potter spoof, and frankly, since there was no real cliff hanger ending to LOTR, I'll tak one of that too....

Maybe they should change the title to "Movie of the Fantasy/Sci-fi genre: Episode 1 - Lord of the Brooms" to be more accurate. :p

Maybe they just shouldn't come out with the movie at all. Granted, while Scary Movie 2 did good, it only grossed a bit over half the gross of the original. Sequels usually take in 70% of their predeccesor's intake. This one barely got 50%.

No, you have it all wrong! It will be totally hilarious! I look forward for another onslaught of gags revolving around bodily functions and slipping over. Those two concepts never tire and the audience will just be cramming into the cinema's to see another witty and intellgient spoof of their favourite sci-fi movies! Boy will you lot be eating your words when the box office makes a gigantic killing - you wait! You clearly can't beat a simply contrived joke about someone letting off wind... Amazing. How do these guys write such stuff. I just can't imagine.
I hope they keep going forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever.....

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting a little tired of gross-humor movies, like Austin Powers 2. Sure, it was funny the first time you see it, but after you see it, you really don't want to see it again. At least I didn't :p Well, I never saw the first 2 Scary Movies, so I could bet money I won't see the third. Hehehe.

They originally set out to make it a trilogy because ALL horror series MUST have at least three films...don`t you know that? :D
Anyways,I hated the first one and didnt bother seeing the second but...I expected the third to be a take on monster movies and I really wouldve wanted to see that :P
I mean, come on...horror films only come in supernatural, murder,or monster form! Why wasnt the third one something like "Scary Movie 3: It came from planet DOOM!"

Never,NEVER see scary movie if you thought austin powers was gross.I,who spend all my time studying the biology of things like tapeworms and maggots, nearly threw up at some scenes in the first scary movie.

Ugh. The first one was decent, but they really should have quit while they were ahead. That cash cow is about to go dry...

i dont really like spoof movies, to me they are totaly unoriginal, and most of the time they arnt funny. this could be said for the austin powers movies and scary movie movies. its bad enough to have one, but now we have 2 coming out at the same time.
