BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES #39

http://comics.toonzone.net/bga/covers/t-39.jpg (http://comics.toonzone.net/bga/covers/39.jpg)

Written by Scott Peterson; art by Tim Levins and Terry Beatty; cover by Bob Smith and Beatty

In stores June 6. Batman and Co. investigate odd, possibly dangerous occurrences at a production of Macbeth and are surprised to discover that the leading man is actually a very large and malleable Arkham inmate in disguise. Yep, Clayface is back!

Comments?

Well, I just picked up another great issue of B:GA. The story was pretty interesting and held me through to the end, and Tim Levins art did nothing but compliment the story, as usual. I thought it was funny how Clayface just missed acting, and that was the reason for everything he did! Can't help but feel sorry for guy.:( The only thing that dissapointed me, was that Batman was barely in it at all! It seems Peterson is giving Batman a break and focusing on his partners, with last months Batgirl & Robin issue, and this months Batgirl focused issue. Anways, another great issue from Peterson, Levins and the rest of the team! I can't wait ti'll Mr. Freeze's return next month!:D

See ya!

Gah! I had that same idea for a Clayface story! No fair! I guess I should actually start writing some of these down eventually.

is it just me or is clayface sorta turning away from the life of crime? between this ish and issue 30, he seemed completely different, as if he wants to return to some kind of normal life. just a thought...

Not that I'm complaining but....

This issue would have been a lot cooler if I hdan't known from the start that Clayface was in it. Every summary I had read for it online in the past (supposedly spoiler free) said that Clayface was back in this issue. Soooooooo, it sort of took away from the"surprise" when he was the mystery character in the end. But hey, at least I got to see my favorite character back in the comics again! :D

It drives me crazy when the advance solicitation material gives away major plot points in an issue, and it happens far too frequently. The appearance of Clayface was, of course, supposed to be a surprise -- he wasn't even on the cover, for heaven's sake! Whoever comes up with these blurbs is really getting on my nerves...

Grrr.

So I take it the writer of the issue doesn't have any control over the little blurbs that are written about each issue? That's a pretty lame policy!

Paradoxically, sollicitations are frustrating... or not! They just give away so much we're bound to yearn for more... and thus one's disappointed with the comic when it's out. Just a shame.

DC isn't the only guilty party of doing this. WB spoiled a handful of Batman Beyond episode with their synopsis - especially in the episode EYEWITNESS where they mention the real antagonist behind the episode.

I think that this was one of the best B:GA Issues in a long time. Clayface is one of the most unique villians out there and during the whole issue they kept you guessing who he was. A few things got me like batman was hardly in the story but it's sort of a nice change to see the other members of the team working without him. The worst thing about this issue was that we knew ithe villian was clayface before we even opened the issue they should'nt have done that. One idea they could have done with this issue would have been on the cover they could have put clayface's charecter and then his shadow so they would'nt completly give it away like they did on Batman Adventure #8

I'm glad Clayface is back also. He's a great chaarcter. While a wee bit out of character, the issue was all around good. Like you all, though, I was dissapointed that we already knew the big suprise. If they kept the suprtise a secret, then it could have really worked for the issue. It sound slike another one of Peterson's 'No Villians' stories, and they payoff would've been great!
