What the subject asks.... what broadcast (over-the-air) TV stations in your area still run cartoons on a local basis (i.e., *not* a package from 4Kids/Kids WB/ABC/CBS/NBC), and which ones?

In my town (Milwaukee), one station (WCGV-TV, channel 24, a WB affiliate) runs "The Wacky World of Tex Avery" and "Garfield and Friends" every weekday, with the syndicated DiC package of "Sherlock Holmes" and (apparently on Fridays) "Capt. Planet." Another station (WVTV-TV, channel 18, a UPN affiliate) runs "Liberty's Kids" and "Sabrina, the Animated Series" on weekdays (opposite the channel 24 package above---both stations are owned by the same company).

Sadly there isn't much local animation in the NYC area.

Our Fox station is the one responsible for the popularity of local morning news shows opposite Today, GMA, and The Early Show when they launched Good Day New York 16 years ago (at that point they used to air Thundercats and He-Man in the morning). The WB affiliate copied them a few years back. The UPN station airs Trollz and one of the Archie shows before an hour of Who's the Boss in the morning.

During the afternoon it's Judge shows and the normal Kids WB block.

When I was in school in Binghamton last year, the Fox affiliate would air Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego and Liberty Kids in the afternoon

Last time I checked:

- Weekdays on my UPN affiliate: 'Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century' and 'Archie's Weird Mysteries.' Back-to-back at 8 am.
- Weekends on my WB affiliate: 'Sabrina' and 'Liberty's Kids.' 'Sabrina' airs back-to-back at 7 am on Saturday and then one episode Sunday at 9. 'Liberty's Kids' airs three episodes together, starting at 9:30 on Sunday.

Apparently you don't count DIC Kids as one of those packages, because at least the vast majority of the shows mentioned so far are from that network. Then again, they would be hard to distinguish from a truly syndicated cartoon because DIC Kids doesn't run one set of shows in regular time slots, but tend to be scattered all over the schedule.

In my area, independent Channel 38 and Toledo's Fox affiliate Channel 36 air "Trollz" at 7 a.m. weekdays, and WB affiliate Channel 20 airs "Garfield" at 6:30 a.m. and "Sabrina" at 7 a.m. weekdays. That's it. (There's Channel 9, Windsor, but that just seems to be mostly a transmitter for CBC nowadays).

Let's see:

Trollz
Archie's Weird Mysteries
Sabrina
Liberty's Kids
Inspector Gadget's Field Trip

Sadly I think that's about it.

I miss the good old days when there were all these cool shows hiding here and there around the dial. There was a sense of mystery and discovery.

None. Only one station is showing the DiC block and that would be my WB affiliate WPHL (17). They show that Liberty's Kids and Sabrina crap. My UPN WPSG (57) stopped showing The Littles and Inspector Gadget's Field Trip over the summer.

Does anyone get Black Family Channnel? They are not just showing Dennis The Menace but I found out that they are also showing Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego. Very interesting. I wish I had this channel since I have not seen Dennis since CN showed it during the summer of 2001.

We have a local black-owned low power TV station, Channel 33, but the only kids show, "Keys Kids Show" doesn't seem to be a cartoon. I remember before it was bought out be CBS, our former black-owned station Channel 62 used to air cartoons like the Harmony Gold "Dragonball", "Macron I", "Dragon Warrior", and cartoons on their final go-round like "Inspector Gadget".

I'm not surprised that these E/I shows (DiC, at that) are the only ones left in syndication.

Here in the DC area, only the UPN affiliate airs syndie animation during the week:

Trollz (8 AM)
Archie's Weird Mysteries (830)

The WB affiliate airs Sabrina at 7 and 730 AM on Saturday.
Liberty's Kids airs at 8 and 830 on Sunday.

Ditto for Baltimore, only its WB affiliate airs Liberty's Kids on Saturday.
