Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but I was in Walmart today and saw that they were selling Batman Begins shrinkwrapped with a bonus THE BATMAN disc. It had artwork that I'd never seen before and looking at the back of it there was a picture of Clayface on it. I didn't catch which episodes were on it. Just thought you guys would like to know.
PS.. it seemed like it was only packed with the FULLSCREEN copy of the movie. I guess they are trying to push that format (as Walmart seems to be one of the few places left that cater to fullscreen dvd's). I remember going to Walmart when the INCREDIBLES came out and found about 500 copies all over the store and NONE of them were Widescreen!!

It comes with the finale of the first season. I believe both episodes. That's definetly what is in it.

USA... I live in the Northern VA area! Yeah, I would've picked it up, but I already had the Deluxe 2 Disc set. Also, I didn't see it packed with Widescreen, only Fullscreen.

Thanks for the info. I think I would prefer the widescreen version so hopefully I can find one packed that way. I'm not the kind of person that cares about extras but The Batman as a bonus disc definitely sounds like something I want.So anyways, what does that leave, like five episodes between this bonus disc and what's already out there? They could make a perfect release with those episodes and throw in this bonus disc for those that missed it.
Thanks for the info guys. Btw, did anyone at TZ knew about this bonus disc?? I dont remember not even Bird Boy hinting us about it

It's a Wal-Mart exclusive...didn't even know of it until a day or so ago. Jim Harvey got the disc (which means it's also in Canada), so hopefully he'll give us a rundown of all that's on it.

Hint: Buy yourself a Deluxe edition of Batman Begins, then buy the 2-pack as a "gift" for a friend or family member, but pilfer The Batman disc for yourself.:p

And Bones, yes, the The Batman bonus DVD is packaged with the widescreen Begins at Wal-Mart as well as the full ... at least it was at my Wal-Mart. "The Rubber Face of Comedy" and "The Clay Face of Tragedy" -- not bad at all as bonuses go.
I was at WallyWorld at 6:30 this morning to get my Begins copy (well, copies, as it turned out) before going into the office. Then later, at about 10:30 AM, I stopped back in Wal-Mart (because I had forgotten to pick up The Batman vs. Dracula at 6:30), and I'll tell ya what: I'm sure glad I picked up my Deluxe Edition Begins at 6:30, because if you didn't get it then, you didn't get one at my Wal-Mart -- they were ALL sold out by 10:30. In fact, the Begins DVDs were selling so well that the store had consolidated all of them that they had left, widescreen & full, to just one display -- and the display was only about 2/3 full of Begins DVDs; the other 1/3 was filled with other stuff. Based on the evidence from my Wal-Mart, I'd guess the Begins is gonna put up some mighty impressive sales numbers.

People who buy full-screen versions of anything should be killed. Or have their eyes gouged out. (Since they weren't using them anyway) Now back to our regularly scheduling posting.

You can get the bonus disc in Canadian Wal-Marts as well.

Saw the bonus disc today. My local wal-mart was sold out of the 2-disc editions, but they had ample fullscreen+bonus disc packages (and a few widescreen ones too, it was a very disappointing ratio).
As much as I love the clayface episodes, ultimately it's more worth my money to grab the 2 disc. and i just dont have enough funds for an extra single disc version to give to a friend and swipe the bonus episodes for myself.
But it was a really smart move to put the clayface episodes on though, since I doubt any other season 1 episodes would've been seen as an enticing bonus.

I had my mom pick up my copy on her way home from work to save on gas and she called me telling me she couldnt find anything but the fullscreen with bonus and was wonderin if thats what I meant by 2 disc. As it turns out she went to the old regular walmart and they only got three copies of the deluxe edition and couldnt stock it they had to keep it behind the counter and you had to ask for it do to the small amount. I am glad they includeded the comic I never read the comics just watched BTAS and I have to say I might be picking up "the long halloween" and a few others.

You can get the bonus disc in Canadian Wal-Marts as well.Thanks. I decided to go to a USA Walmart. The first one that I went to had The Batman bonus disc with both the fullscreen and the widescreen editions of Batman Begins. I have not seen Batman Begins or these episodes of The Batman yet so this is a really great deal for me. I also picked up the two The Batman releases while I was there since they were cheap even though I've seen those episodes already.
I decided to get the widescreen edition since I'm finally gonna have some time off and can watch movies at home rather than on a PC monitor for a change. Otherwise, I probably would have picked up the fullscreen version.
I was surprised that the deluxe edition was apparently selling so well. They were asking almost ten dollars more. The single disc with The Batman was running only about three dollars more than the single disc alone. So technically, the bonus disc was not "free" but I thought three bucks was reasonable.
Any idea why WB did this without any advance notice? Batman Begins doesn't seem to need the marketing boost from what I saw. The deluxe edition seemed to be selling really well. I guess I'm a little annoyed at how quickly and easily WB can put The Batman on a disc just to promote something else but they can't seem to release the rest of the series this fast.
Oh yeah, and if you decide to call Walmart to check on their inventory, the store I went to referenced this package as "the gift set". If you ask for Batman Begins with the bonus disc, they will probably think you are asking about the deluxe edition instead.
Hint: Buy yourself a Deluxe edition of Batman Begins, then buy the 2-pack as a "gift" for a friend or family member, but pilfer The Batman disc for yourself.:p
Nah, I'd just end up feeling selfish. Besides, I can't think of anyone I know that would appreciate a Batman movie as a gift that hasn't either seen the movie or has already bought it. And the folks I work with generally roll their eyes or say stuff like, "The idea of Batman is ridiculous. Why wouldn't the cops arrest him?" I've long since given up trying to explain any of the appeal to them.
Anyways, thanks again everyone for the tip. And thanks WB & Walmart for The Batman disc. Now if they could just figure out that they don't need to give it away. I would buy more of The Batman if they would just put it on the store shelf.

How about better releases with more than 3 episodes only? ;)
Darn guys, you are all lucky because either you live in USA or Canada where everything is cheaper and easier to get. I live in Costa Rica and I have to buy everything online (amazon, best buy, etc) so it always takes me some time to get everything. However, I feel a little annoyed because WB didnt tell us ANYTHING about this TB bonus disc, I would had bought it if Ive would had know, trust me, but instead I got my BB deluxe version in advance. Oh well, you cant have it all
ps. for those wondering prices for DVDs here they have the BBegins single fullscreen version here for 38$ Crazy!

Agreed, they need to start releasing discs like Teen Titans, alternating with six and seven episodes so that you can get the whole series in two volumes. True, a box set would be nice but I would prefer the Teen Titans route because that way there is no good excuse for delays. They could always release a "deluxe" edition later anyways. Hopefully, Static Shock will follow up with a seven episode release, too.
You're also right that we get more stuff in Canada / USA but unfortunately, we still don't get everything. There have been several USA animated series that were released overseas that never got released on their home soil, except a few episodes on VHS. VHS! Blech.

For those unable to find these discs, do not worry. The two episodes featured on this DVD - “The Rubberface of Comedy, Part 1" and “The Clayface of Tragedy, Part 2" - will be on DVD in 2006. I will say I found the cover and disc art to be superior to the regular releases from WHV. For those wanting a look, expect the cover and disc art to appear online soon, either at this site of from Batman: Yesterday, Today & Beyond (http://batmanytb.com/news.php) or Legions of Gotham (http://www.legionsofgotham.org).

I have to say that I found the cover art for this special promo DVD to be much better than the artwork found on the regular DVD releases. I wouldn’t be surprised if this disc doesn’t find it’s way on to a few auction sites over the next few weeks. I also think this is a pretty wise decision on WHV’s part to include this DVD with the regular Batman Begins edition for sale at Wal-Mart. It’s a high-profile chain and could help attract some new viewers to the program.
I do wish they included “Batgirl Begins” instead . . .

by far and wide the Clayface two parter is the most mature story that appeared on The Batman. I think they packaged the correct product for batman begins...

i hope batman beyond gets box set treatment in '06...and hurry up w/ JL!!!
We'll probably start seeing more JL when Superman hits theaters next summer.

Thematically, it would be a fun idea to have Batman Begins packaged with The Batman two-parter “Batgirl Begins.” It’s a great little two-part opener and would somewhat fit along with the live-action feature. I do agree that having “The Rubberface of Comedy, Part 1" and “The Clayface of Tragedy, Part 2" are great choices to have on there, in terms of high quality from the cartoon series.
Is there any extra onthis dvd release besides the 2 episodes?
Id like to get this dvd release on Ebay (prices goes from 5$ to 12$). Since Im currently living in Costa Rica Id have to pay 10$ extra for shipping to get it here. Do you guys think it would be worth it? Id love to have it

You have an excellent point they are almost in continuity aren't they? In fact, If Scarecrow ever did appear on The Batman they might be able to fudge the line and say "that story was already told". Heck i'd like to forget about The Bat in the Belfry, and say the same for the Joker :D

No, unless there is some Easter egg that I'm not aware of. The disc starts with a preview of the Batman Begins videogame which looks good, by the way. Then the two episodes run in order with the introduction and credits after each episode. In other words, they did not edit this into a single movie, thankfully. I don't really like when they do that.
The disc has no menu at all and true to form, WHV does not know how to put chapter stops on the disc. Well, they did include one so you can switch between the two episodes but that's it. I know this is just a promotional disc so I don't really expect extras but they don't even put in good stops on their retail stuff. Is a stop at each point that was originally a commercial break really all that much to ask for?
The box art is really nice looking, as you've probably already seen.

Do you guys think it would be worth it? Id love to have it :sad:I am not a collector so I can't really say. I wanted it because I have not seen these episodes before. I'm guessing if you were a collector you would not be asking for this advice. If you haven't seen these episodes, I highly recommend it because I really enjoyed the story. I'll save my talkback on the story for the appropriate talkback thread, though.
Presumably, these episodes will come out some day on the regular release but no dates have been announced. Hopefully, WHV will start releasing six to seven episodes on a disc for The Batman and we'll get these two on the very next release. If not, then these two episodes won't be released until after the next three-episode disc, unfortunately.
Five bucks doesn't sound like a bad price but since we're talkin' eBay, it all depends upon the shipping, eh? I myself paid about three dollars for this disc because that was the difference between buying the Walmart gift-pack and the single disc release of Batman Begins. At any rate, I'd say go for it unless you are really strapped for cash. You can always find a collector who'll want to buy it later if you decide you don't want it anymore.
Oh My Gosh "Bones Justice", you just helped me out to make up my mind about this release. Thank you v much, your point of view is just what I needed. Geez, I wish most of the posters on the forums would be as kind and objetive as you. Once again, thanks! (Gonna get it nooooow! )

No problem. I hope you enjoy the episodes as much as I did. I was really surprised by what was allowed in this story, too. Hopefully, Cartoon Network will bring the show back some day so that I can see more episodes.
By the way, I was kind of disappointed by Batman Begins. Is it just me or was the story a little too linear / obvious? I didn't care too much for the camera work during most of the fight scenes, either. I really enjoyed the 1989 Batman movie even though I absolutely hated the rest of the movies that followed. Batman Begins was not a bad film but I wasn't as impressed as most people seemed to be with the movie. Even some people that I work with that don't normally watch this kind of stuff were raving about this film. These people roll their eyes at the idea of watching movies like Mask of the Phantasm.
Also, I did not care for the new Batman Begins Batmobile at all, neither the looks nor the way it was used in the film. The 1989 Batmobile is still my all-time favorite.
Anyways, again, I hope you enjoy the disc.
