in "battle of the bands" when purple filth goes with grim to preform in the battle of the bands. is the song that purple filth preforms with grim a real song.
if it is what song is it because it sounds like a cool song

I'm pretty sure that song was specifically written for that episode. What I'm wondering is who does Grim's singing voice on that song. I'm pretty sure it's not Greg Eagles, who does Grim's regular voice. It actually sounds like Richard Horvitz (Billy/Billy's dad) to me.

It's not a real song, but it was apparently done by an actual rock group for the show (can't remember the group's name, sorry). Not a very well known one but a rock group nonetheless.

But you are right, that song really rocks!

David Ivy of the band SPF 1000 did the song. It's called "Darkness." Unfortuneately, it is not available legally anywhere since Cartoon Network owns it.

Even David can't have a copy of it according to the band's FAQ (http://www.spf1000.com/FAQ+index-myfaq-yes-id_cat-12.html).
