Control Freak, you have brought Season 5 out of the gutter. Though I do wish he said "bii-daa!" when he left...

I loved the little meta reference when Control Freak expressed his outrage that he wasn't on the list of their deadliest enemies.

"The Puppet King?! They only fought him once! I'm a recurring villain!"

That, and the "Spanish converter" on Mas & Menos was hilarious.

See when the show plays to its strengths, it's good. When it doesn't, it's bad. Pretty common sense. Melody Fox is probably the best writer the show has picked up in recent seasons. And this is probably the best episode of the season. Well, not probably. IS.

EVEN WITH the worst characters in the entire series, it's the best episode so far!! And now we see the inherent flaw in the system.

Is this supposed to be an homage to Wild Cards?

Not bad, but I prefer the more serious episodes. Still, it was pretty funny and I've always thought Titans East were underrated.

Is it just me or are Mas and Menos kind of dumb? All they had to do was run and touch the buttons separately. Five minutes was MORE than enough time to run to the buttons at normal speed. Wonder if they can still speak english now.

The way the challenge was set up the buttons were spread apart by several miles, making them only within reach via super speed.

Some awesome extras in the background, all the video game references, generally hilarous... on a non-humorous note, I liked how he quantified the Titans East's stats.

4/5

"He used HIMSELF as an ARROW?"

This wouldn't happen to have the same animators who did Overdrive, would it? That one had some neat extras, too.

You think they made this episode in reaction to the fan backlash against season 3? :D And should I be worried for having the same haircut as that fangirl?

Now this is the TT that we all know and love (most of us anyway). :p

While not having cared much for Titans East in season 3, I have to say that were used very well in this episode. Of course, the zaniness that ensues anytime Control Freak is around certainly didn't hurt things.

The clueless-ness of the general public about TE and the internet hacks (complete with shippers) were a nice touch to a fun ep.

I don't think it's even possible to make a bad episode when Control Freak is the main villain. (Why did they use 257-494 in this episode? At first I thought it was this ep's production number, but it was the old 4x01 number.)

I never want to see Control Freak dress like Starfire or Raven again any time soon. . .Erm-This episode was probably the funniest episode of Titans for a very long while. The animation ruled, the writing was good, and Titans East was actually portrayed in a light that I liked. What else is there to say, the episode was just plain fun! I give it a 5.

His name is LeBlanc, right?
Yeah, his name is LeBlanc, said so on the credits.

I already had formed my opinion on the episode before I watched, I knew I'd rate it perfect because Control Freak was in it.

I was right.

Control Freak is as hilarious as ever, you just CAN'T go wrong with this guy. All his scenes were funny:
-His "GREETINGS, TITANS!" speech that he repeats over and over
-"Puppet King? They only fought him one time! I'm a re-accuring villain!"
-Battling the Titans East...RPG style!
-The fanboy/fangirl chatroom scenes
-Getting himself arrested by zapping himself in front of Titans East to scream out how cool they were in the challenge. :anime:

5 out of 5 for "For Real". On side note, we see Cyborg in the arctic on two occasions. This must be taking place during next week's episode "Snowblind" which introduces Red Star.

HEHE...that was a pretty funny episode. The spanish-converter and his crush on star and cf-star...wow.

ok, the challenges were a little weird. like speedy stopping the missiles like that was just too out of bounds not possible. and i wasn't there for the whole episode....why couldn't mas y menos just separate and walk to the two buttons...i must have missed something...i didn't hear the challenge i just saw them run back and forth.

the whole chat room thing was weird. wutever....i just hope we never get that bad.

i thought that was a really funny episode. the cat blinking....lol. i just wish we saw more raven and starfire. they havne't had a thing this entire time. the online "real" titan shown so far has been bb and a little bit of robin, only cuz he's the leader.

EDIT: nvr mind...i just saw someone's quote about how the buttons were miles apart....just kidding.

You never know what is missing until it is gone. And you never know how much you missed it until it comes back. This episode shows that very well. I like other people here have been disapointed with a tean Titan's season that is trying to be JLU. This season has lacked a little something that makes the Teen titans it's own show. This episode gave that perfectly.

Leave the JLU plots for JLU and the Teen Titans plots for teen titans. The Last three episodes disapointed me like This Little piggie did, it felt like the episode was writen for the wrong show.

More Teen Titans episodes that feel like Teen Titans episodes.

Control Freak cosplaying as Starfire and Raven has probably scared me for a life. But Control Freak with his quad-saber, his remote with spanish converter, his chatrooms, his 'titan tests', his geeky personality and his mechanical shark name Glen really made this episode rock. :zim:

I give it 6 out of 5 stars.

Whatever the Teen Titan production staff is on, double the dose, we need more of these episode. :zim:

P.S. This Titan's villians list shows that they must have thought they were done with Control Freak for good.

Exactly, and if you're going to do serious episodes, make the plots about character rather than just "epic stories," which TT can clearly not handle. TT has always been about character. Everyone says Apprentice and Haunted are the best episodes because they're heavily characterized stories. Such stories are MORE mature than TT's half hearted attempt to "grow up" with Homecoming, which had a moral but didn't do anything to establish Beast Boy as sympathetic or deep, and was more interested in expositing plot point after plot point and just getting from point a to point b.

Eh, maybe it`s trying to fill the void since JLU is trying it`s very hardest to be superfriends this season. I still loved this ep though.

And so the zaniness returns, and what a zany episode it was.

Ah, Control Freak, what joy you've brought us Titans fans. You brought the sillyness back to the show, and it was good too. Thank you for bringing back the witty humor, the funky anime expressions and bloated heads, and other funny touches like arrows pointing people out.

The plot, for a silly episode, I thought was very good and well done. The Titans East coming to watch over Jump City made sense, but what about their own city? Guess they don't have as much trouble over there. Control Freak's enthusiasm towards fighting the Titans makes him seem really obsessed and insane, I liked that. His reactions towards the Titans East was great, and so was theres. The scene where he's moving through the tower and it looks like a video game was really funny, he was using all his weapon specifically designed for the Titans, and they didn't work on the Titans East. Then he replies, "Your powers are stupid!":D I also like how the Titans East would go around saving the city, and people would mistake them for the real Titans, reminded of TGSNT where everyone calls Booster Gold GL. The Internet chat scene was hilarious. Everyone hating the Titans East and mocking their powers was really funny, and at the end they end up liking them. The chatees were really weird, I loved how they had a lot of knowledge of the Titans and they were shippers towards certain aspects of the Titans. Control Freaks mega challenge was a nice way to get some action in. The challenges were thought out well, and each member got a chance to shine by defeating their challenge very intelligently and they ended up proving themselves to Control Freak as well as the city.

The dialogue was awesome. Control Freak had some of the best. Things like looking at the villans list, seeing Puppet King, and then replying they only faced him once and he was a reoccuring villan. I also thought it was hilarious how they made Mas y Menos speak English, really funny. The animation was really good, fluid and those crazy anime expressions and weird looking drawings are back and better than ever. The action scenes were nicely done as well.

Teen Titans has officially returned and is going strong. Hopefully we'll see more episodes like this.

Actually, this was quite an enjoyable episode. The opening was surprisingly funny, and I really liked Control Freak's theme music. Pretty much when he entered Starfire's room he gave up. It was also cool to see how everyone reacted to the Titans East. Mainly, who are these guys? I like how the writers are finally thinking, like when everyone points out the similarities between Robin and Speedy.

The best part was when the episode mocked the forum-goers. I chuckled when I heard "Raw-bin n Staw-fer furever" by the chicken head guy. Then I burst out with laughter upon hearing the bucked toothed boy spell out LOL. The point was that they weren't actually saying those things, it was what they were posting. Maybe there's a Control Freak among us?

Though I prefer the action-based episodes like Birthmark, Prophesy, Haunted, X, etc. this one really amused me. I couldn't see anything wrong with it. And Mas y Menos' english was surprisingly NOT out of place. I just whipped my head back and said, "Oh that's good. That's good." when I heard, "Nothing happened. Must be the batteries. GASP!":p

I guess the only qualm I can have is that Raven wasn't in the episode. Why did Cyborg have to be the only one talking to them? Oh well, I suppose if they all talked to the Titans East then someone would ask: why do they all have to talk, Cyborgs euff! Oh yeah, another qualm is that I'm seeing too many coincidences of how the gimmicks relate to the story I wrote (see signature, Nightmare;) ). It's actually nothing I should be complaining about, the mastermind in my story was anything but comedic.

Overall, animation was cool, music rocked (especially CF's theme), humor was excellent (I always prefer wit over stupid anime "jokes"), and the plot was good. "I can't believe the bad guy just zapped himself in front of us." That shows that the writers are finally thinking! 4.5 stars.

And now for my final thought: The Incredibles' Bomb Voyage? I liked the allusion and his comment of "Ze Titanz East are clevar, no? Zat is vye ze captured moi. Hmpf!" It's too bad they didn't give his name in the ep. I would have been curious to know what they called him.

Wow, there were so many funny gags in this episode. To the videogame parody, to the shipping community online (Robin and Starfire 4evar! No Starfire belongs with BB!), to the little boy thinking Speedy was Robin, (Robin, I liked your other costume better. :D ) to the 4th wall breakers (Puppet King?! They only fought him once! I'm a recurring villain!) brought the heart back into Teen Titans.

And amazing, I hate Titans East and hope they all die, but strangely enough this episode rocked while using the worst superhero team ever put together in a cartoon.

Thank goodness, now THIS is Teen Titans. More Teen Titans, and less JLU in the future TT writers, thanks.

I'm going to have to watch this again because I didn't enjoy this at all and it's getting raves here. I must be missing out on something.

But for my initial review I will say I didn't like it simply because I don't like Titans East. Silly episodes just aren't silly episodes without Beast Boy, Starfire and Cyborg who only cameoed. I not only want more silly episodes I want the characters I've grown to love back. All of the Titans East are annoying and I could definately sympathize with Control Freak for being pissed that he wasn't able to deal with them.

As far as the internet parody I have to say I found the stuff from JLU's Shadow of the Hawk funnier.

I have always liked Control Freak but in his earlier appearances his fighting the Titans was so great because Beast Boy and Cyborg were geeks too and it was hilarious when they seemed to be subconsciously trying to distance themselves from that stuff. I don't want the Titans on seperate mssions across the globe, I want them to have their own show back. Score: ***.

I was so bent on hating this episode. Considering past TT:E eps, I thought I had good reason.

Man, have I never been so glad to be proven wrong. I think I enjoyed the fanclub postings the best. I thought for sure that they had read Toonzone and did a copy-paste. I also enjoyed the fact that this episode had more citizen interaction than all previous episodes combined. Makes their world just a little bigger. That's gotta count for something.

Although I too am a bigger fan of the more serious episodes, this one ranks right up there with the best of all the episodes. I can't wait for all the BB/Starfire & and Aqualad/Bumblebee fanfics that will flood us. :D They have now been given official sanction. Oughta be great...:D

Four and three-quarter stars easily.

Well done TT writers. I hope you see all this praise you are getting from your viewers.

On a side note, it is unfortunate that the entire series has already been written and is being animated. The writers must think of a million things they wished they could have made better after they send it off for inking. It also makes our praise (or condemnation, for that matter) less useful to them. Either way, they can definitely take away a nice feeling that they succeeded in this episode.

One more side note: Thinking back to the first season, TT started off unbelievably bad. Car Trouble and D&C, even from a kid's point of view, were bad. This opinion is widely held, at least so far as I have seen. But we saw how, after that, they turned on the big guns in their brains and just wrote fantasticaly. This season, they deserve every chance we can give them to see what they are capable of writing and drawing. I'm sure they will do just fine.

Edit: Somebody better get on the ball and begin writing about how Robin would never appreciate Starfire, and therefore doesn't deserve her. I was surprised they put that in, as it requires more than just a cursory thought to fully grasp it.

Huh. Silly little chibi and icon animation aside, that looked like a pretty funny episode. I say looked because the sound was like a half-second out of sync with the picture until the first commercial break, and then completely absent until the last 2 minutes!

....The sound seems okay now, but I really hope it sticks this time. If only the fix could have happened durring, say, Duel Masters instead.... Well, I guess I can only wait until the reruns start...

I thought the same thing. The Blank did remind me of Bomb Voyage, and between "Homecoming" similarities and Control Freak being sort of like Syndrome, there are a lot of Incredibles comparisons.

This came close to being 4 stars, but I had to bump it down. Loved Control Freak (although I guess The Brain isn't really organizing the villains, he probably just freed them all and let them do their own thing, for the most part). They could've done a bit more with the internet geeks...well, maybe not more, but I felt there was a couple jokes they didn't tell (Robin's identity for one thing).

I like the Titans East, and I missed the zaniness (Bumblebee's hair falling out was funny, and Mas Y Menos speaking English felt weird). But...I miss the Teen Titans. Hence why I had to give it three and a half stars.

Oh, and Glen the shark and Bank of Perez? This show really knows how to acknowledge its creators.

CF Starfire. Ahhh, it burns us, precious!!! I missed the last two weeks episodes, so I can't make a comparison on whether or not it improved, but I found this to be hilarious! I loved all the Silkie gags, and internet comments. Mas y Menos popping out of Bumblebee's hair and speaking English was probably the icing on the cake. Only complaint is that there wasn't enough of them kicking bad guy arse. ****1/2 stars.

When they said they'd be focusing more on Titans East this season, I didn't realize they were going to have them move into the Titans tower while the team was taking on missions across the globe. Why do I get the sense that all the original Titans are going to be captured, and the Titans East are going to have to rescue them?

As for who's in the Titans East tower, last time we saw it, it had been trashed thanks to Red, so maybe they just have a maintenance crew building it back up fully.

I don't want the Titans on seperate mssions across the globe, I want them to have their own show back. didn't you say something about Teen Titans feeling too "insular" and being glad to see them go other places? :)

i prefer the serious and character-driven episodes. but i have to admit, this was the best episode of the season so far. i'm ashamed i was prepared to hate it. you just can't go wrong with Control Freak.

"Puppet King? They only fought him once! I'm a recurring villain!" <--what makes that line extra funny is that it's not a complete 4th wall breaker. Control Freak IS the kind of guy that would look at life like a TV show and say something like that.

the chatroom comments were great and the Titans East didn't annoy me at all, even though their the worst characters in the show. and Mas y Menos continued to speak English after CF used the remote on them for the rest of the episode. i wonder if it's a permanent change.

good episode.

Okay we got back our funny drawings and wacky parodies. Are we all happy people now? Matt?

Anyway, I have to go with the crowd here this was one of the funnier episodes of the season, and infact series. We had everything from jabs at the rabid fanbase (yes us), to The Titans East kicking butt and taking names.

The good.

+Control Freak acting like the TT (Especially the Starfire/Robin comment)

+Control Freak fighting everyone RPG style.

+The Titans East getting no respect from Control Freak or the citizens.

+The Incredibles refrence (I think it was anyway).

+Internet Chat rooms (you just know they read this site, and others.)

+The Challenges and the way the heros handled them. Except for Speedy that was just to out there for me (even for a super hero show).

The Bad.

-How did Bumblebee, Mas, and Menos get out of their containments when Control Freak trapped them in the tower? I suppouse Speedy could have freed them but it just had me scratching my head.

-The way Speedy beat his challenge. Again I just didn't buy it, yes this is a super hero show (and some of the others were pretty inpractical), but for some reason that was difficult to accept.

Overall I give this episode a B.

So are we going to see that Tundra where Cyborg was in the next episode?

First review of the season from me (but third episode... haven't seen last week's yet and waitin' for a repeat)...

Maybe it's because two certain college football games I had interest in went down to the wire and both didn't turn out the way I wanted them to, or that I was called in to work tonight (so a few certain *key* shows I watch I'm now missing for the second straight week), but this episode wasn't all that.

Or it could just be that this brought back the Titans East, who I harbor bad feelings for. No, not because they stink or they're horrible. They're just, well, dull.

"For Real" did not do anything to change my opinion of them in that respect. But their actions did do something notable. Just like the citizens of Jump City, I'm starting to believe that the Titans East are capable superheroes. Yes, Control Freak isn't the most menacing villain, but he still managed to push both himself and the TE to a higher level. Placing them in intriguing challenges that tested their limits. And they proved their mettle.

I'm still far from the point where I'd consider any of the Titans East members as suitable replacements for the real team, though.

The thing I will say about 'Teen Titans' the series now, though, is that it's kinda shown me the light in where my viewing priorities should be. I always thought I preferred nothing but action, but in recent months, it seems that's been boring me and I instead lean towards the comedy-action hybrids.

Coincidentally, some of my favorite episodes of this show are hybrid types, while some of least faves are those with heavy action. Maybe it's like Matt said... the TT writers can't do pure action, and should leave it to JLU to fill that gap.

I'm still wondering why both TT and JLU have decided to go the 'league vs. league' route this season. The fact that it seems more forced in TT is a bad thing as well.

I don't know if I've just grown out of the series or if the show has just past its peak, but for most of 2005, Teen Titans has been a disappointment to me. I know there's still a few premieres due this year... but maybe, since there's been no news of a sixth season (at least, I don't think), the staff should think about calling it quits before it really gets ugly.

Anyway... I gave "For Real" a 6.5 out of 10. It was still better than "Homecoming," and I guess that's saying something considering what that two-parter was to me, but yeah... Titans needs to get back on the ball again.

By the way let me add that I loved the Perez refrence. Nice for them to give a nod to the 80's comic.

And I'm assuming the shark named Glen was based on the head producer Glen Murakami right?

The recurring villain line was awesome, so i'll go to the next line

Control freak..oh my, the list of favourite villains is getting even bigger. This is the rare occaision where the trilogy is the best out of them all!!!

I still haven't seen the "Homecoming" episodes, but from what I've read, quite a bit of people weren't happy with those episodes. I enjoyed the last episode, although I did miss the wackiness that we all love from this show.

"For Real" was definitely a great episode--for real!! This is definitely the best episode with all of the Titans East cast, so far...and Melody Fox did an outstanding job writing this one. Hopefully, we will see more 'funny' in future TT episodes. CF is both hilarious and freaky at the same time--aack....Starfire CF---scarred for life. Mas y Menos speaking English--great stuff, I doubt we'll hear them speak it again, but we'll see. CF didn't make the villain's list? :p Hee-hee.

I gave it ****1/2.

after seeing For Real what can I say?

CONTROL FREAK FOR-EVAH!

Lets just say that this time, The Fans demanded laughter and the fans got laughter. In Bushel Baskets, and Falling Anvils.

First off, Control Freak not knowing who Teen Titans East were, Second, Cyborg Teeling Bumble Bee not to eat the Turkey Leg (Control Freak is Eating it!)

and even the 'fan boys' and 'Fan Fic Writers' got p'wned and "Served" a dish of Silly craziness.

Control Freak: (Take that , and That! )

Then of Course the funniest Moment on the Planet when Control Freak uses the 'SAP Converter' control on Mas y Minos! (I died laughing on the spot!)

Speedy saving 'Mr. Tinkles' (The White Persian Cat that just "Blinked" ) was also funny..(I swear if the cat had started to Talk in an evil Villainous voice...)

and then Control Freaks Mechanical Shark (Get'em Glenn!) *And Cue the Jaws' Theme music!

But hey at least the writing gave this show some props, and the fans loved it.. after all Matt Wilson, you are so right. When the show is done right, it soars.. but this one went ito Ludicrous Speed and never looked back!

Dark Helmet: Teen Titans (Ludicrous Speed!) GO!!!!!!

Now all they have to do is a Trio of these types stories.. (and Since Control Freak (CF) is outta the way, why not have Mad Mod (MM) or Mumbo Jumbo (MJ) come up next! and make it even more zany!)

believe me this one gets my hightest Rating..

5 out of 5 *****

Teen Titans For-evah!

Pretty good, but that is to be expected so I'll just go ahead and list the negatives.

-Speedy using himself as an arrow, unbeleivable. That is especially disheartening becuase it was a really neat challenge.
-calling Robin the teen wonder instead of the boy wonder, just seemed like a distracting change.
-Robot shark is cliche, however I'd have forgave it if it wasn't for the fact that the shark crashing wouldn't have created a total seal so some of that poluted water did get into the resevoir or whatever.
-Not telling Cyborg what happened served no purpose, so why put it in? It seemed like they were trying to strech this episode out a little.
-Why weren't the people evacuating the bridge?

All the same I gave it a four out of five.

"Episode 257-949" (or whatever the number is--hey, I'm not control freak ;) ) was really the episode that got me into this series.

This episode is definately the best I've seen in a while up there with the one I just mentioned, "Bunny Raven," "Fractured," and "Revolution."

Lots of funny moments. The chat room references were spot on, very funny. Loved the kid who came out of nowhere to spell out L-O-L. I haven't really seen Titans East before, so it was cool to see them here.

Whoa. CF as Raven and Starfire. Umm...okay...

The montage of the classic-style saving the day by Titans East (including the stopping the train and rescuing the cat) was good too.

Hopefully, we'll see more of Titans East (and more lighthearted/comedic episodes) as the season progresses.

WHy didnt Aqualad just use his control of water to reverse the flow of the polluted water? or force the shark outta the water? That little error gives makes me give it a 4 3/4 out of Five. other than that, best episode this season.

I give it a 5.LOL ditto I'm scared for life

didn't you say something about Teen Titans feeling too "insular" and being glad to see them go other places? :)

.I did and I believe that. But there is absolutely no reason to have the Titans on seperate missions and Titans East taking their place. I love the dynamics between those five and I would really like to see more episodes with all of them together. I really liked Homecoming because of that but if they are going to only have the Titans together for "special occasions" I'm not going to be happy. JLU tried the same thing with the League but it didn't bother me because 1) we didn't see the entire league together in most of the episodes anyways and 2) the new characters were interesting and they usually gave us new insight to our favorite characters.

This was SHEER BRILLIANCE. I cannot praise this episode enough! Silly without being overbearing, knowing EXACTLY who its audience is, introducing the Titans East in a stellar way without making them "Cyborg's little project", and ohmigosh, was this episode SMART. And it was able to 'participate' in the season arc without being filler. Oh, and wonderfully animated! All Teen Titans episodes should be this well done.

Six stars, if its possible.

PS: I miss Mas and Menos speaking Spanish only, but I guess it had to be done.

A good episode, but it does have some plotholes:

CF, LeBlanc, and Punk Rocket (who was in the prision watching the Titans challenge with LeBlanc) were all in attendance at the Brotherhood of Evil's conference at the end of Homecoming pt. 2. But in this episode they seemed to be acting independant of the Brotherhood's plan. Which gives us three theories on what happened:

1. They decided the Brain's plan was a waste of time and struck out on their own.

2. The Brain decided these three were useless and cut them loose.

or 3. This was all part of the brain's plan: He knew that the titans east would be minding the store, so he gave Control Freak and LeBlanc false info (Telling Control Freak the Titans were at home, and telling Leblanc the city was unguarded) so that he could spy on the Titans east and gague their powers. As for Punk Rocket, he's a plant in the jail to help CF and LeBlanc escape.

personally, I'm betting on 2.

Very fun episode.

I haven't been watching the show that regularly, but I'm glad I caught this one. There were lots of great little bits in this one as everyone's mentioned... I liked the video game graphic used to show Control Freak making his way down the hallway, I'm not a big proponent of that style but in that case it was used very effectively. The internet chatters was a great bit... the comment about the mechanical shark read my mind :p.

The animation was pretty gorgeous. The characters had dimension and they moved beautifully. The camera moves were really cool... I was surprised they went for the CG shots, but they looked pretty good.

I'm glad I caught this. I really like Titans East myself, hope we see more of them.

Why is the Control Freak ends up in Silkie's room? It was cute how both of them got scared of each other. :anime: Where are the Titans West? This was a very funny episode, especially with the Titans East thrown in the mix. Control Freak came of to be an easy villan to defeat! I liked the mazes and challenges that he put our heroes through! ;) How come Mas y Menos spoke English for more then half of the episode? What is up with the fans who hate Teen Titans East?, and only after they have proven themselves, begin to like them! I hope we will see Titans West again, this season seems to lack in the original hero appearences! This episode aould have been a lot better, if they had some interesting villans, instead of many cameos! :p

to answer your questions:

1. CF was searching each room of the tower for the Titans, and ended up in Starfire's room last where he came across Silkie.

2. The Titans West are off in the artic fighting the Brotherhood of evil, this leads into the next few episodes which presumably take place up there and involve the titans fighting Dr. Light.

3. CF used his control to change Mas Y Menos' speech to english so he could understand them better.

4. The fans didnt like the Titans East because they were unfamiliar with them, and they warmed up to them after seeing their feats of daring doo against CF.

-How did Bumblebee, Mas, and Menos get out of their containments when Control Freak trapped them in the tower? I suppouse Speedy could have freed them but it just had me scratching my head.We saw Bumblebee blast her way out with her stingers. Mas y Menos is a bit more difficult though. The spaces between the "bars" looked big enough for them to crawl through, but one would think CF had it set up to prevent Beast Boy from shrinking out.

*Pictures amusing images of Anime freak acting like his nephew around the Digimon (all seasons) Yu-Gi-Oh (and it's GX spinoff) and Naruto crew*

I liked this episode too, but I don't understand the hate for all the previous episodes. I like comedy episodes but having one like For Real one after another starts to get repetitive. Teen Titans is good at mixing humor, seriousness, and drama in their episodes and it won't kill them if there are more serious episodes coming up. (There's bound to be some humor episodes mushed inbetween and episodes which have a balance of both)

I figure Cf's Beastboy trap would change sizes with Beastboy like the collar from "every Dog has his Day" but could not hold someone as fast as Mas, and Menos. However your right they did not explain how they got out of that cage.

Is it just me or are Mas and Menos kind of dumb? All they had to do was run and touch the buttons separately. Five minutes was MORE than enough time to run to the buttons at normal speed. Wonder if they can still speak english now.
The thing was that the buttons were ACROSS TOWN ;). Five min ain't enough to run across town normally. Pretty smart of Double M there.

Buttons had to be pushed at the same time too.

Pretty funny, but most interesting as a reflective view of how the creators of the show actually view those of us out in internet land. There's the full of himself blowhard, the dunderly empty headed shipper, the kid who's too young to contribute anything useful so he just reiterates what others have said, and on and on and on... Ha ha, oh, it hurts!

Oh, and the full of himself guy who was like "Yeah, these traps are tired, I could have come up with something better than that..." Yeah, he was totally based on me. Without a doubt. All me. Me Me Me Me Me Me ME!!! all me.***

***If you can't tell, I'm joking. I'm not actually so big headed to claim he was based on me. It was self parody. Just a joke. Not to be taken seriously. I mean it. A joke on my own arogance. Great/funny episode that improved my opinion of Titans East. They didn't feel enough like a team to me in the other season ... but they're starting to pull together now.

I especially enjoyed the jabs at the Internet fans... I wonder if they were looking at deviant art, on which there are entire clubs devoted to particular couples. And they "Robin doesn't appreciate Starfire" thing... I had that in my last fan-art! Now I'll feel like the creators are spying on me... (maybe they'll take up on my idea of Raven in Gotham City next ;) )

I liked this so much better than the "serious" episodes before it this season. I don't mind at all when the Titans travel, but I still don't like the idea of chasing after the brotherhood of evil. Less brain in a jar and big monkeys, and more funny!

Okay, now I'm thoughoughly convinced that the teams for both TT and JLU are cross-pollenating...

First on JLU we get the "I Hate Hawkgirl" message board dig from Batman. And now on TT, we get the full-blown Message board conversation. Too funny.

I've always liked Control Freak, mainly as a test of my own super-geekiness - how many references do I "get", etc.? To have his look based on a likeness of Harry Knowles (a local celebrity here in Austin, TX) is perfect.

I know drug references on kids animation shows are a definite no-no, but if "The Easters" ever cross CF again, I would love to see him take a jab at Speedy's foray into heroin abuse - even if it was masked somewway.

Bonus points should be given if CF EVER calls Aqualad "Tadpole".

Personally, I liked this episode. Control Freak is one of the few villians that would probably never work very well in a serious type of episode, and he just shines in these types. The treatment of Titans East by the citizens was awesome(Unitard guy!), not to mention all the gags pulled on the fandom by the creators(Starfire should go with BB, by that point you knew the creators were poking fun at the shipping community).

Oh, and Mas & Menos speaking english makes this episode rank right up there with 257-494,(I'm a recurring villian! :D ).

I'm not normally a fan of wacky Teen Titans episodes, but this one was great. Just the right amount of zany without sacrificing the character bits. And Control Freak is probably the one Titans character that fits the zany style best, so it was a nice fit.

I am enjoying the arc with the Brotherhood though, and the fact it's being played straight more or less, but I understand why that's not everyones cup of tea.

Seriously, how much does Punk Rocket suck? He was free two episodes ago, and he's already in prison. That's worse than Dr Light.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this episode, especially since I haven't been laughing at the Titans since last season. And it was a Titans East episode! I really enjoyed seeing them being fleshed out more - though crime must be really lax in Steel City...

My theory is that Punk Rocket is a Plant ;) or maybe the brotherhood of evil is like a club, where you get some days off and cause mayhem, and possibly get caught haha, but he certainly looked calm, i'm sure the brotherhood has a way of bailing people out of jail (then again, the jail isn't good at keeping villains in anyway)

I really liked this episode. Personally I also thought the Hotspot episode was a well-done and entertaining half-hour villain fight, but I agree that this was more of a quintessential Teen Titans episode. It had decidedly tight and non-stupid writing. The internet jokes were actually really funny (where they easily could've been too exaggerated or very "wink-wink"), the Titans East were actually cool because the episode kinda sorta addressed their uncoolness (Speedy was especially improved here), and Control Freak's challenges were legitimately difficult and intimidating. I guess the Mas y Menos challenge was a bit of a stretch, but it was a stretch I was willing to make based on the characters.

Overall, this episode was a very effective way to expand the scope of the current story arc. Now we've got a parallel Titans East story running and it fits into things very well. I actually do want to see more of them!

This was a wonderful way to rediscover the series. Last time I checked out a Titans adventure, it was Trouble in Tokyo, and that...was hardly this good.

Wicked animation the whole way through, funny, inventive writing with strong characterizations, and great use of the supporting characters of the Titans East.

I'd always enjoyed Speedy's design and Bumble Bee's look, and Mas y Menos have slowly grown on me. Here, they all had fun, fanciful things to do, and I just walked away liking them more. Sure, BB using her body as an electrical conduit was a bit of a stretch, but Speedy turning himself into an arrow and riding the rockets into one another? Wild, ridiculous and totally Titans.

SERIOUSLY, the animation rocked. BB's flight under the subway cars? That's a tricky thing to capture without the proportions wiggling the entire way through. Great, smoothe, stylish animation. Looked like Glen drew the whole show...and that's exactly what a good animation studio should do. Really nice.

Control Freak isn't a character I'd naturally be interested in spending half an hour with, but the plotting worked. First, he finds out the Titans East is in charge and they beat him...then he observes them and plans his second attack...then he impliments it. A three-act plot that made me feel like I was watching an issue of Teen Titans Go! coming to life.

The web forum joke in act two was clever, but the execution lacked. If you're going to poke fun and the fanbase that writes online, at least make the joke funny. None of those us avatars had any real punch-lines. Disappointing there.

But otherwise, great episode. Reminded me of why people liked this show so much to begin with, and gave me hope that the fifth and final season wasn't the overly seriously snooze-fest people were making it out to be.

It is great change of pace, the Titan East get the spotlight, similar to "Lightspeed" in which the regular Titans were almost non excisdent.

Kind of topic, I hope Ben 10: Alien Force does a similar episode like "For Real" with Max's students getting a spotlight episode. They defentely have a Titans East vibe.
