View Full Version : What are you STILL watching?

Is anyone still watching the shows they thought would be favorites at the beginning of the season?
I'd like to know which ones you found disappointing and thrown out of the mix, and which ones are you still watching?
Thrown out:
Bones, Medium, Supernatural, PrisonBreak.
Bones and supernatural were over-hyped, once I found out the formula, it bored me.
Prison Break has become very predictable, and I am jaded from how awesome OZ was in the prison drama category.
Medium is just getting "meh", boooring.
Still watching:
Apprentice this season, Psychic detectives, Real world (though i don't know why....), Parko P.I. (same night as Psychic detectives),Invasion (borderline lame), I can't think of others right now, I will update soon.

The only new show I cared to watch this season was "My Name is Earl" and I am still watching it. Very funny sitcom and I could see myself watching it for quite some time.
I also make sure I catch the new episodes of Smallville, Arrested Development, The Office, Family Guy, American Dad, and soon South Park.

I'm surprised I'm still watching Smallville considering how disapointing it grows to be per episode.

I'm surprised I'm still watching Smallville considering how disapointing it grows to be per episode.I'd have to agree. Though YTV is only nearing the end of season 3, I've already started to dislike the show. Though for some reason I still come back to watch.

New Shows I Watched
Supernatural
My Name is Earl
Night Stalker
Invasion
Surface
Everybody Hates Chris
Prison Break
Bones
Still Watching
Supernatural
My Name is Earl
Night Stalker
Everybody Hates Chris
I found Invasion and Surface surprisingly boring. I got tired of Prison Break for some unknown reason (I may go back to watching it). Bones has a strong cast and terrible writers; so many things about that show make little or no sense.
Supernatural is like watching X-Files Meets Hardy Boys. My Name is Earl and Everybody Hates Chris are comedy gold. Night Stalker is underrated.

Only new shows I bothered checking out were GHOST WHISPERER and THRESHOLD, and I'm still watching both, with THRESHOLD being my more favorite of the two. It's so far been even better than I was expecting, and I am really digging it. I just wish Brent Spiner would get a bit more to do.

I watched one episode of Supernatural but I wasn't willing to give up the Amazing Race for it. I tried an episode of Surface but I'm not willing to give up Arrested Development for it. I gave up on Bones after one episode because it was a giant cliche. I gave up on The Apprentice:Martha Stewart after one episode because even though Martha's better than the Donald, the Apprentice still sucks. And I think I'm going to give up on Invasion after South Park and Drawn Together return next week.
I'll still watch Threshold because there's really nothing better on Friday night, and I'll still watch Kitchen Confidential only because it's in between Arrested Development and Prison Break. I'll still probably watch The War at Home just because it's in between the Simpsons or Family Guy. Prison Break and Reunion are the two new shows this season that I'm enjoying the most and I'll probably follow these shows around regardless of what timeslot they're given.

I'm still watching How I Met Your Mother, which is the only new show I've been tuning into each week.
Returning show's I'm still watching:
-Survivor: Last season revitalized my intrest in the show, and this seasons even better.
-Arrested Development: Still the funniest show on network TV.
-The Office: Still the extremely close to funniest show on network TV.
-American Dad: Best animated comedy on TV right now with new episodes (and a close 3rd in funniest show on network TV).
-SNL: I really don't know why.
There are a couple of shows I can still miss out on and really not care about like Family Guy (especially because of the reruns on Adult Swim), The Apprentice (not that good this season, the sexist "race to the helicopter" in the first ep. ticked me off), MadTV (because SNL is on), and a couple of others I can't remember off the top of my head.

I've pretty much stuck with Gilmore Girls and America's Next Top Model as my two shows of the week. I'm surprised I've tuned in to ER as much as I have since the season began. I really expected myself to drop it, now that there seem to be new characters on staff every week. The show hasn't felt stable as of late. What's her face from 3rd Rock from the sun is on there now, and she's kinda neat, but what they're doing with Dubunko feels too much like what happened to Romano, prior to being writting off the show. Anyhoo, that's my viewing stats.

Well I still watch too much TV, but it's not fault. I blame the new TV season. As illustrated by...
New shows I've stuck with How I Met Your Mother I am really liking this show. It's your standard sitcom as far as format and has a lot of fun characters. The perspective of the future Ted telling his kids the story of the episode title is well-done and Neil Patrick Harris is great as Barney.
Prison Break I love this show and I decided to watch it at the almost last minute. Michael has a very intricate plan and the tension just builds.
My Name is Earl Just a great cleverly-written show with a good heart. I don't think I could possibly get tired of this one.
Commander in Chief This one is still under some consideration. The evil Republicans and overly dramatic stances Mac the President takes on are a bit much. I like the focus on the First Family though.
E-Ring This look inside The Pentagon gets more interesting each week. And I hope its move to 8 p.m. ET before Lost will help it out. Benjamin Bratt is great as JT and Dennis Hopper owns Col. Eli McNulty. "Sunday mornings at the Pentagon. Can't you just feel the love?"
Criminal Minds I'm told there are better crime shows out there and I'll check them out some day, but I didn't get into Lost last year and I like how this show plays out each week.
Reunion The way the story builds is just great. Once I understood the format I knew I had to watch it.
Old shows that are new to me Boston Legal Seeing a bit of it after Desperate Housewives for most of last season, I was interested in the off-beat humor that I saw in the openings. Decided to pick it up and so far it's been worth it.
The West Wing I didn't get into West Wing until March of this past year when the series started over on Bravo and I've been hooked ever since. I now have all of season five and six to watch and then I'll watch my tape of seven so far and then just start watching.
New shows I gave up on Bones The first two episodes were fine, but it just wasn't holding my interest, the potential sexual tension between the two main characters didn't actually exist and I don't have time.
Killer Instinct Gave up after one episode. I watched it for Chi McBride, but stiffness of the main character and the more "deviant" crimes was too much for me.
Ghost Whisperer This show has a good heart and I enjoyed it while watching, but after three episodes, didn't really look forward too it either. I still watch too much TV, but one less hour is still good.
The War at Home I felt dumber for having watched it. The characters talking to the camera had some potential, but you can't have both that and a laugh track. The two formats just grate against each other.
Old favorites Smallville Clark and company are out of high school and Lex is turning evil. Things are slowly developing into what we know in the adult world.
Survivor I got back into this show after UPN/SmackDown! disappeared from my cable offerings a couple years ago and I fell in love with it again. Good season so far.
Joey It's not great, but I liked Friends and Joey is good enough to keep me interested until the bitter end.
WWE SmackDown! UPN moved it to Fridays, but I wouldn't give this one up.
SNL What else am I gonna do on a Saturday night? (Don't answer that.)
Desperate Housewives I don't think I'd want to live on Wisteria Lane, but the goings-on are fun to watch.
Family Guy Funny, funny show.

Reunion.

I've watched My Name is Earl and liked it though I haven't really had time to keep up with it. I generally try and catch the office when I remember. But the only show that I will actually make time to watch these days is Arrested Development.

Arrested Development- Best show today, bar none.
Curb your Enthusiasm- another hilarious comedy.
Lost- Even though I hardly watched Season 1, this new season has been great.
Family Guy, American Dad, The Simpsons- toons I watch.
And I guess wrestling/sports talk shows too.
Well that's it, unless you count upcoming shows. I would include South Park and 24.

The only new show I been watching is My Name Is Earl which is pretty good I missed it last week though.
The only two returning shows that I still watch are:
The King Of Queens (this season is a much improvement over last season's) and Yes Dear.
As for Saturday night's I watch NWA-TNA and then maybe a movie.

I've seen every episode of My Name is Earl and missed the last episode of Prison Break but I'm liking that show. Old favs that still are great: Lost, House and Family Guy!

Desperate Housewives - Didn't watch it last season because I assumed it was a Melrose Place type soap drama. Then my sister bought the Season 1 DVD set and I found out I was wrong. So now it's on my must watch list.
House MD - Now this one I didn't even know about last season. Caught 2 reruns in September, was hooked, bought the DVD set, and it is also on my must watch list.
Lost - Probably the only show I watched religiously last year, and still tuning in.
Smallville - I'm not a fan of Smallville and watched episodes here and there. This season it's on a new night at a time I don't watch anything else. So here I am watching Smallville regularly for the first time.
CSI - Old favorite.
The new shows I dropped:
Bones - Boring CSI wannabe.
Supernatural - Rather watch House MD. It also scares me and I'm easily scared.
Commander in Chief - Rather watch House MD.
Invasion - Slow moving and I don't care much for the characters in this supposedly character driven show.
Night Stalker - If I had the guts I'd stick around, but I don't. I'm more scared of it than Supernatural.

The only new show that I want to keep watching is My Name Is Earl, unfortunately it's up against Nova on PBS so I've been missing it.
Night Stalker turned out to be less of a X-Files clone then the advertisements made it out to be, but I'm still not finding it to be all that interesting. I had it on the other night but wasn't watching.
I've seen a couple episodes of Invasion and found it to be completely boring. At best I don't care in the least for any of the characters. I have no idea where they're going with the alien invasion story but I'm sure it will be drawn out, pointless and constantly side tracked by the minutia of the personal lives of characters I hate.
Contrast that with Lost, where the premiere episode was riveting and the more you find out about the characters the deeper the mystery becomes as their history has meaning to the current story line.

New shows that I tried:
War at Home
Bones
My Name Is Earl
Kitchen Confidential
Everybody Hates Chris
Just Legal
Only one of those above am I still watching: War at Home. And that's only if I remember, because I tend to forget about the Sunday lineup on FOX. It's just luck that I finally remember Toonami on Saturdays.
Kitchen Confidential wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I was psyched about it because John Francis Daley and Nicholas Brendon are on it, but it wasn't good enough for me to continue watching.
Just Legal really let me down. I was stupid to think that I'd like a WB show again.
Everybody Hates Chris - I just watched one ep of this, and I wasn't too impressed. I don't normally watch UPN for anything but reruns of Simpsons and That 70's Show, so unless by some chance I leave it on that day until Everybody Hates Chris comes on, I'm probably not going to watch this again.
Bones - Such a disappointment! I thought this was going to rock and instead it's so boring and lame. Now I just read before House M.D., because this show is just garbage. =(
My Name Is Earl - I caught a rerun of the first ep on Bravo, and it was good, but not very special and it's up against House M.D.. I love Jason Lee, but I love Hugh Laurie more.
And War at Home is just hilarious. I absolutely love that show.

Great synopsis. I think if you like Jason Lee, like I do, My name is Earl is a nice break from the continuous plot shows, because each show is contained within itself mostly. I find that enjoyable for that kind of show. sooo funny.
But, I have TIVO, so I get to watch both....
;)
Another show I've lost faith in is Threshold.... I've decided garbage isn't too harsh a word, but thats just IMO.
Still watching High Stakes, but its not very old yet. I love watching reality shows about rich folk with no spending limits. hehehe...

This season I've picked up (even though I swore I wouldn't watch anything new) and kept:
Threshold.
That's it. Well, I've also gotten into Medium and Boston Legal since my mom watches them. Both very enjoyable, but probably won't follow them after I move out.
When Threshold gets cancelled (which I'm sure will be any minute now) I won't miss it. I'll keep watching as long as it's on, but I'm not counting on it.
I saw parts and pieces of Invasion, Commander-In-Chief, Night Stalker, and Bones. The only one that I would watch if paid is Night Stalker. If I was tied down with my eyes taped open, and forced to watch it, I wouldn't mind a bit. Seems good enough, just bad timing.

Besides reruns of old shows that I love (and miss and wish were out on DVD), here are some shows I'm still watching:
Saturday Night Live: Yeah, it's never going to be as good as it was in the 1970's (and I've watched episodes from that era, thanks to my network affiliate airing older episodes at 2 am on Sunday morning) and the show is going through some cast changes (particularly Chris Parnell's absence and Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph's maternity leave), but I love the show regardless.
Family Guy, American Dad, and South Park: Since The Simpsons is no longer worth 30 minutes of my time, I might as well get used to these (which do have their lame moments, but do keep me laughing from time to time)
there are others, but these are the ones I had on my mind

I don't think it's in danger of getting cancelled. From what I've read, it's doing pretty good, and the last few episodes have won their timeslot. The second and third episodes even saw slight increases in ratings after the premiere. Looks like a second season could be likely, which would great. It's an awesome show! I mean Hell, last week the team actually nuked Miami with an EM pulse! That was freakin' sweet! :D

Good to hear it's doing well. And using that EMP was cool.

The only new show I'm watching right now is War at Home because it fills up the 30 minutes between Simpsons and FG. Honestly, the show isn't that bad.
I really want to watch Earl, but I probably won't be able to until the Amazing Race is inbetween seasons.
