Okay, this is something that I thought of about last week, and am still not sure of.

Al's suit of armor is just that, a suit of armor, correct? Hollow inside. How come Ed can't transmute all the metal into a smaller form, one more reminiscent of his original body? Get rid of the empty space, potentially make it into a more human like form, and even have some metal covering up the connection point that ties Al's soul to the suit?

Why don't the monsters in Power Rangers just go directly into 'big mode' and crush everything, instead of pussy-footing around by attacking meaningless citizens before resorting to 'big mode' for their last attempt?

It's just a show. :p

Still if you want to think about it logically...I think seeing a metal child walking around would be very...uh...obvious and creepy. As it is most, if not all, people who meet Al think he's just some guy in an armor suit. He'd undoutably be less of a threat if he was smaller then Ed, probably considerably weaker too.

Why waste the effort to cover his soul symbol when it's already covered pretty well? I mean...every time Al is damaged its not like it's just a small hole, it's usually something that goes all the way through. Another piece of metal over the symbol would do squat to protect it from anything that's damaged him thus far...so its really just wasted effort.

I'm guessing it would take some degree of advanced alchemy... or forbidden alchemy... for him to be able to do that.

For a more plausible theory... well, my guess is that Al's armored body is the same as a normal human body in terms of chemistry and make-up, and attempting to change it in any shape or form will cause it to collapse upon itself. Though more plausible, it's not likely that Ed would change Al's shape because (1) if he could, he would've done it already, and (2), since it could qualify as an act of attempting human transmutation, might have to sacrifice another limb of his body to make it work.

Plot hole.

He's the only person who can transmute Al, and he can only repair him. Changing Al's structure could damage the seal.

While we're asking questions that should be answered 'it's just a show':

Alchemy is presented as a science and it suppose to hold to the conservation of mass but it's conservation of mass and energy. It takes energy for elastic and plastic deformation and to move things. For example I move my arm up I just transformed some energy from the chemical bonds in my food into heat, kinetic energy, and potential energy. When Al moves his arm up were does that kinetic and potential energy come from? Where does the energy to transmute stuff come from?

I mean if it's not coming from anywhere energy would just be constantly added to the system; in the long run that's not good.

Why does Al look the way he does?............because he looks AWESOME....a normally shaped metal person would be grotesque........with the way he looks now and the innocent voice he has, that just makes his suit of armor that more intriguing and, well, COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do wonder one thing: if a person with a soul attatchment could have multiple blood seals? Would that help or hinder that person....(to me, Al is still a person)
...I know that there was a suit of armor in Lab 5 that had 2 soul attatchments, but that was because there were 2 different souls....hmm.

While I won`t say what it is, I will say that it is brought up, and
That it is the biggest spoiler in the whole show.

And why doesn't Ed put a piece of metal over the blood seal, so that it doesn't risk getting scratched?

As X-Play has brought up, why does a suit of armor need a suit of armor?

Eh..wah?

Anyway, X-Play has an oversized amount of hate for FMA that goes well beyond not liking the first game. Come to think of it, they hate pretty much all japanese RPGs, or anything having to do with anime.

I bet Adam Sessler has a personal Anime collection under his bed.

And when has Al ever worn armor?

The thought never occurred to him. :p

Which is why I dont watch anymore. I liked the show better when it was just a general gaming review show. Now they act like theyre trying to be the next Matt and Trey by insulting all groups/etc. Morgan likes anime, she used to do anime reviews on the Screensavers.

What I want to know is, When did Sessler go from a good-natured, casual host(Extended Play) to a full-blown prick?

First off, lol at Discloner's responce. Second, the hell have you been? Haven't seen you in a long while. And yeah, I don't see how much more [good] would be accomplished by molding him down in to a freakish silver boy who can't cry. Doesn't really matter.

Well, for something I would love to see, imagine Al in a completely automail body. I bet Winry would love to build it.

I'm definitely throwing my two cents at the camoflauge reason. Few suspect Al of being anything but a big guy in armor. Also, Mustang made it clear that if anyone found out what Ed had done to his brother, he would be carted off to a lab as a precious sample. So, if Ed tries to make Al any different than what he is...

Since we're on the subject of odd traits about Al...

I've always wondered why Al doesn't imprint himself with a permanent transmutation circle of some kind that he could use to enhance his metal body at times, similar to how Ed gives his automail arm a blade. Al could do the same to one or both of his arms, seeing as he has plenty of material to work with.

The thought occured to me just now that it has been repeated many times that Al's "body" proper is that armor. Seeing as how Wrath is the only one that has been shown to be capable of transmuting his own body, this might be the reason.

Curiouser and curiouser...

Still, X-Pkay is better than the rest of G4. I could go on, but it would take too much space. It will always be TechTV to me...
