I can put your mind to rest that he's definitely male. He just seams to have a taste for feminine things. (And it's only his sleeves. He never actually crossdresses and his room has lots of pink [And his blindfold for sleeping and his nightgown are amusing{Again, 30 episodes from now}])

I want to see how Daitokuji and Hayato are handled, however (That'll be tomorrow).

Dunno how they got Chazz from Manjyome...but never the less, I found this to be pretty cool. Can't wait until the plot starts getting together.

Pretty cool episode. The Mr./Ms. joke was funny, even funnier when the chairman called the Dr. about fair-play and mentioned that it's happenend quite alot. You can tell who's going to be future friends, rivals, and arch-nemisis.
I wasn't expecting Yugi to talk with Yami's voice, I guess he hit puberty.

A+That is indeed Little Yugi except he is no longer little anymore. In GX, it's 10 years since Yugi and friends' last adventure and Yugi finally got a growth spurt. And as for Yami Yugi, I won't spoil anything, but he isn't around anymore (note the absence of the millenium puzzle).

Pegasus also cameos in 50 or so episodes and so does Grandpa Mutou. But those three cameos are only like 15-30 seconds.

The Paradox Brothers however will appear in a two-parter in 12 episodes.

Edit: Yugi does show up in posters in the future, without his eyes being blotted out, some having the Yugi a decade ago and some showing the present day one.

Wow.....I never expected that many years to pass.........it makes me think that Yugi really is the reincarnation of the Pharaoh, Yami....(duh, they do look alike, despite the different voices, and height, heh heh heh.....).............I hope the others make apperances, even minor ones......man.......when Yugi grew up, they weren't kidding around.......10 years.......sheesh!

OK, pretty good first episode. I don't really like the opening song though. I like the "Yu-gi-oh!" dub theme alot because rather than risk messing up with a bad song, it's just music and pretty good music too (the only downside is Yami "stuttering"...yeesh!) But the GX theme song...meh.

Now for the character voices, and how I find them.

Jaden: This voice is grating to me. I just find it annoying and way too over-the-top.

Sirus: His voice is great, it's how I'd expect someone like him to sound, quiet and shy.

Bastian: His voice is good, the British accent isn't really annoying...not yet at least.

Crowler: Crowler's voice is annoying and pompous, and thus it's perfect seeing as Crowler is pretty annoying and pompous himself (I like him none-the-less for the character development he gets later)

Alexis: Another solid voice, it suits her well.

Zane: Yaaaaawn! The voice sounds bored and I find it boring as well. Hopefully it will improve.

Chaz: Good voice for him, it's really his name that bothers me.

So, all in all, the only voice that really irks me is (ironically) the main character's! :sweat:

Anyway, it has been a year since I first saw this episode (it started in Japan a year ago this week I think), and the dub only made my bad memories worse. Not only that, but 4Kids managed to do what I didn't think was possible, have an even more terrible opening and BGM.

I do like the style of the LP and other statistics though.

Chazz Princeton??? Whoever came up with that (and that voice) should be shot. Then again, I'm not sure who got the worst name, Manjyome (Chazz in dub) or Chronos (Crowler in dub).

I think I'll watch the Monday thru Thursday reruns when they start tommorow night at 10:30 PM EDT, and I'll also catch it weekends on Miguzi. It sounds like people are complementing 4K!ds for once, so I've got to see why.

Egads no man don't do that. Don't give your ratings (if they even count) to the 10:30PM airing. If every curious person does that then will never be rid of those encores. And in turn never get something good again pre-AS.

Well it wasn't too painful but it certainly wasn't very interesting either...Completely in agreement. You know, I was hoping this would give me the rush 'Yu-Gi-Oh' gave me four years ago. The first episode. Yugi and Kaiba. Dueling for Yugi's grandpa's life. Epic, and that was way before I even knew how much that episode butchered from the original. :sweat:

And then I realize... I'm four years older and I'm not that gullible anymore.

It's too early to judge the characters, 'cept for Jaden and Crowler, who were center stage in Episode 1. Jaden's a big contrast to (early) Yugi in that he's completely confident in his abilities... and that he's also obviously doesn't realize Crowler's trying to bury him alive. Crowler seems as haughty as (dub) Pegasus, but at the same time, not as eccentric.

Voices were decent. No stand-outs, good or bad.

The LP meters were something... numbers and a bar that decreases. Though how will they handle it if someone has over 4000 LP? Also... graphically, it does look a bit too big.

Dialogue... also decent, but once again, nothing special.

Music... okay, 'cept for the theme songs. Geese, kids must really love all of these theme songs, 'cause 4Kids keeps finding ways to scare adults away with the openings. (There goes the trend of their most popular shows having the best theme songs.)

One episode down, four to go. If this show's gonna save the YGO franchise from fading completely in the US, it better pull some surprises off!

If there's one good thing I can say about YGO GX after one episode, it's... at least it's not among the worst cartoons on TV.

This is the DBGT of the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe, only not as good. Yes, Millennium World is the official ending, as is the anime version (which gives a nice epilogue that the manga doesn't). Surprisingly though, GX is popular in Japan, and the kids love Judai despite the fact that he has no character development over 53 episodes (at least that is what it seems, I stopped watching the series around episode 6, but occasionally will read up on summaries). From what I read, Manjyome and Asuka (or Chazz and Alexis to the unfortunates :p ) are the only characters to be developed in any way.

Probably the best thing about the new series for me is that it's following TCG rules from Day 1 (except LP at 4000 instead of 8000, but games would take too long then), as opposed to the previous series when we had to wait until Battle City for anything even close.

Overall, I'm just looking forward to seeing the guy with the Cyber Dragons go after Jaden...

To tell you the truth.... I've all ready been there:sweat: and combed through the site. Tho i didnt read all the episodes up so far(only like 3 i looked at); i just quickly glanced at some character profiles and a few other things.Im trying not to ruin it for myself.

Today's episode was another decent one...two things:

1) Syrus's comment about "being linked in a past life" was a HILARIOUS jab at the previous Yu-Gi-Oh! series...especially when Jaden shot it down :D Can anyone get a screencap of the two decked out in Egyptian garb?

2) Jaden's game-ending move that he told Alexis about may have worked in the show, but in the actual TCG "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" can't be special summoned by any other means than fusion summon, and that includes from the graveyard. Monster Reborn wouldn't work on it in the TCG. Just pointing it out because the show has, thusfar, completely complied with all the TCG rules...

In a show that deals with nothing but fanservice, having it be the only good thing about the show is alright... usually. But in a show like this... I'm sorry, Asuka/Alexis is good to look at, but her alone is not enough to say I want to watch this show regularly.

Still, the show's still getting the regulatory five-episode trial as pretty much all new shows I want to try get with me, so maybe that'll be enough time for it to prove it's worth watching.

Im serisouly on the fence for todays episode. I didn't enjoy it as much as yesterdays and i kinda thought Alexis' voice didnt fit in with a few scenes, expecially during the duel on the water, i felt that it wasnt as expressive as i hoped.IDN, she sounded odd to mee

The episode today was all right, though it does take a mark for reintroducing the world to the evils of the digital swimsuit. I probably wouldn't have minded if it wasn't so starkly different from the rest of the color palette. In addition, when the girls come out they're wearing towels and their swimsuits have mysteriously vanished...continuity error, ahoy!

Syrus broke probably the most important with girls...never tell them they're heavy :p

Not the greatest series ever, but it is still proving to be enjoyable.

Yeah, I'm grasping for straws today. *shakes head* Alexis, Alexis, Alexis. Everything was fine 'til the duel with Jaden started. Then your voice turned serious. And horrible. Man, talk about a let down.

Oh, and Alexis was afraid of getting in the 'wading pool' because guys would show up to play 'Tackle Marco Polo?' Um... puh-lease! She was worried about being seen in the buff! Now I know 4Kids probably couldn't have her say that anyway... but surely they could've thought of something better?

And one more thing... I thought Yugi used too many of the same cards in his first fuel duels. But this Jaden... geese Louise, please tell me that's not the only cards in his deck he can win with!

Well, you can expect "Elemental Hero" cards to be his theme for the entire show. There are loads of other fusions and such, but he does stick to E-Heros.

As I recall, it was Seto Kaiba that founded this academy, and given that Obelisk was his own god card, he was probably biased into giving it the honor of the top house, while Yugi's Slifer is at the bottom. Kaiba is definitely egomaniacal enough to do it.

Ugh. Why did 4Kids have to add swimsuits to Asuka, Momoe (girl with black hair and pigtails), and Junko (the girl with brown hair shaped like a map)? There wasn't anything there to see. Heck the only naked females you actually see show their stuff were Asuka's monsters (in the original version).

Well, there will be a few new E-Hero monsters and many different combinations of fusions, otherwise Judai sticks with those cards.

Actually, it was never mentioned in the japanese version either, at least as far as I watched. The press release is what said it was created by Kaiba.

The episode today was all right, though it does take a mark for reintroducing the world to the evils of the digital swimsuit. I probably wouldn't have minded if it wasn't so starkly different from the rest of the color palette. In addition, when the girls come out they're wearing towels and their swimsuits have mysteriously vanished...continuity error, ahoy!

Syrus broke probably the most important with girls...never tell them they're heavy :p

Not the greatest series ever, but it is still proving to be enjoyable.

And yet, she's still the only watchable character by far on this show.

Anyway, Episode 4... a bit better than yesterday's, but probably behind the first two episodes.

- "Why can't he dream in defense mode?" Heh... found that one funny.
- There's now V and W monsters, and they combine with the X, Y, and Z ones? Well... they had to poke around with the alphabet some more eventually.
- I see they're stressing friendship. Jaden deciding to stay with the Red Slyfer as opposed to advancing to Yellow Ra and gaining some of the respect deservant of his talent... despite his lack of 'impact' monsters.
- Oh, and the fact that there were five other pairs of duelists on the field at the same time as Chazz and Jaden and they weren't dueling... that just seemed like a waste of animation, drawing them for no good reason.

Today's episode was nice, I suppose...

-Syrus PRAYING to Slifer was a bit much, especially with a bunch of copies of Monster Reborn stuck to his head.

-Chumley is almost evil...can't wait to see his deck in action, though :D

-You think the students would recognize Crowler through the lame hat and cloak.

-They called in a freaking navy for a briefcase of "rare cards"...and the ironic thing, from the few that I saw...most were crap in the real card game. Oy...speaking of which, if anyone could grab a screencap of those cards, that'd be handy.

-And so we get to the duel...I liked that they simply called it the "V-to-Z Dragon Catapult", instead of it's proper name, "VWXYZ Dragon Catapult" as that's a bit of a mouthful to say the least.

-Chazz MORE than deserved the loss, because he COULD have one if he'd used his brain. VWXYZ's effect is basically

"Once per turn, you may remove one card on the field from play. When this card battles with a monster, you may change that monster's battle position. If a Flip effect monster is flipped face-up by this effect, that monster's Flip effect is negated."

If he'd just used the removal effect on one of the two cards, he could have forced Jaden to activate the Quickplay regardless of whether he targeted Kuriboh or the Spell. That way, the Winged Kuriboh LV10 would have been on the field, and Chazz would have known better than to attack. Next turn, he could just remove it from play, and then he'd have won. Oh well...

-Jaden could move up to Ra Yellow, but we all know he's too much of an underdog to do that.

-Syrus is creepy attached to Jaden...like almost shonen-ai level attached. Seriously, crying into his shirt and hugging him to death really doesn't help.

OK, so we've got Judai, who's the Joey of the group (always itching for a fight), Asuka, the little Yugi (shy and timid), Alexis (my favorite of the group, BTW), who as mentioned is a cross between Tea's friendly personality, Mai and Joey's attitude, with a touch of Kaiba thrown in. And, speaking of Kaiba, Crowler appears to be the perfect anolgy to our favorite arrogant antagonist.

Overall: Well, this isn't as bad as I had first thought. In fact, it's a pretty cool sequel. I'll be sticking around.

Oh, and there's a mini-marathon going on Miguzi right now. The enitre first week rolled up into a neat little two-hour package.

So, consequently...
The best of Yu-Gi-Oh (the original series, not dubbed by 4Kids) + The best of Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters (the five-season show wrapping up this year on KWB) - the characters we've all grown to love = Yu-Gi-Oh: GX.

We all heard (and learned firsthand) how horrible Dragonball GT was. The consensus, then, should be Yu-Gi-Oh GX is horrible too.

That's partially true, in my opinion and in most fans' opinion. GX doesn't hold up to DM that well. The good news is... GX is better than GT. Of course, GX didn't have to deal with annoying characters, not following continuity of the previous series, and messing up powers and abilities of returning characters.

The only major problem is that GX is a glorified commercial for the card game. Which DM was too, of course, so nothing gained, nothing lost there.

I'm surprised at all the positivity I'm finding. I managed to catch the first episode in a rerun and I never thought I'd see a show that would make me want to watch the first Yu-Gi-Oh! so badly. The only moderately decent thingsI found in the episode wereAlexis' voice and Yugi's cameo. The rest, well, was forgettable. I haven't been able to get myself to go past the first episode because of the horrible first impression it gave me and the bad taste it left in my mouth.

I just watched the episode where jaden gets in a real shadow game and dosent believe it, with winged karibo( ?) that yugi gave him.My question is that in the episodes of yu-gi-oh! right before it went off the air for awhile, hes inside the millenium puzzle with the pharoah and his plain karibo with no wings guides him to the parallel world of monsters.does he have a karibo with wings and one w/o?hmmm......
