So who's pumped for DC's upcoming Brave & The Bold series, done by Kevin Smith and Phil Hester and Ande Parks? I think this will be a great issue. The series will essentially be a Batman Team-Up type comic. And with Smith at the helm my lips are watering just thinking about it!

I really enjoyed how Kevin Smith handled Batman in the Green Arrow comics, but I'm not that keen on the idea of Batman teaming up so much.

Batman's not much of a team player, a complaint we've all heard/read many times from Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Oracle and others who've worked with him. Greg Rucka often showed Batman as the kind of guy who always felt that Gotham was his responsibility, and that he never thought it right to involve other people into his mess because he felt is was unfair to those whom he asked for help. He always took it as his burden, and no one but himself should suffer for any mistakes he's made (hey, he's a perfectionist) During No Man's Land he waited a long while before asking Nightwing and others to lend a hand, and was very curt with Huntress/Batgirl whenever she's tried to help out. It doesn't matter how deep he sinks, he always waits untill the last possible moment to reach out for someone else. Just look that the beginning of the first episode of JL.

To have a comic that teams him up every other week with a random superhero just doesn't seem right to me.

He needs to team Batman up with Bluntman and Chronic.

:D

Sigh... I'll give it a try. Though, quite frankly, Bat-books have generally become as bad as X-Books when it comes to originality and readability ('cept Birds of Prey and Batgirl...) Well, all right, nothing could be as bad as an X-book ;) , but they are getting mightily bad. Maybe B&B will be worth it if Smith can dig up Prez or Brother Power the Geek... :wakko:

I avoid regular Batman titles like the plague, but I love to read the special titles (The Long Halloween). I think that Kevin Smith's Batman title would be well worth the time.

I'm gonna pick this book up, no doubt about it. But the really sad thing is that DC wouldn't even be DOING this book if Kevin Smith wasn't writing it. Mark Waid (who, for my money, is a MUCH better writer than Kevin Smith) begged for a long time to write THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD ongoing, and he obviously never did. Then Kevin Smith comes along, says "Gee, I think THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD would be fun" and he's got it. That's one sad example of the comic book world.

I had avoided the Bat books, too, but I find "Batman" and "Detective Comics" to be excellent reads, now that all of the Bat titles are disentangled.

As for Smith's "Brave and the Bold," if he can capture the fun of the old series (I've been buying back issues on the cheap), I'm all for it. He did give Batman all the best lines in the Batty One's "Green Arrow" appearances.

I'm really hoping you didn't think "Good Lord, man, did you ever have an original thought?" was a good Batman line.

What's wrong with it? At least it wasn't "Chicks dig the car."

Are you kidding? That was a great line.

It's not so much what he said, but how he said it. Do you really ever think Batman would say "Good Lord, man"? Good line, just needed to be reworked for the Bat. Maybe I'm picky, but that jumped out at me.

oh boy more batman

seriously i like the guy but id rather see B&B used to showcase perhaps random teamups of heros who lack their own series, or Flash and GL (i guess that would be a bit of a problem now that he is "THE ION!!!!!!!!!!!!" :p
