Okay I think everyone knows that I'm the anti-Walt-man;), but here's a really nice image....

Tis the model sheet of two of the toys from the 1935 Silly Symphony "Broken Toys" (d. Ben Sharpsteen). The cartoon has been noted for its animation by Iwerks and Fleischer great Grim Natwick (on his way to Snow White). This model sheet could be titled "Raggedy Ann and Andy Meet Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben "... :D

Interesting find, Tim. By 1935 you could definitely tell the diifference between the smoothness of the Mouse Factory's designs and layouts compaired to the struggles at the other studios (which is why I find Avery's "Page Miss Glory" from 1936 so exceptional).

Of course, I doubt Mr. Eisner will be allowing this specific layout sheet to be appearing on any of those little "Salute to Disney Animation" segments they air all the time. As we all know, those types of cartoons were merely figments of people's imaginations and never really existed...

The Sogturtle strikes again!
To paraphrase Jack Nicholson in the other Tim's Batman:

"Where do you find all these marvelous pictures?"

Now, do my eyes decieve me or is the marionette a caracature of the most un-PC of the un-PC's - Stepin Fetchit?

Stepin Fetchit does appear in this cartoon as a very slow broken puppet.I have the original uncut version of this cartoon.
