Premieres Saturday's at 11 AM EDT
Did you miss your military action, because Duke and Scarlett are ready to rock, and you know Cobra Commander is going to come up with another crazy plot. Our heroes may not be recognized, but their sigma packs are great, and they may give them the advantage to cause Cobra to eat their snake. The new episode is moments away, so get your comments at hand, and get ready to announce Sigma 6's new episode across the land.
Episode 105: Sigma (World debut)
Last time: Spud and Scott were taken to the base of Cobra so Scott could give them his alterations to the formula. Luckily for him Snake Eyes followed him and was able to sneak into Cobra's base. At first Snake Eyes seemed to be losing, but then Duke arrived, and with his new Sigma pack Snake Eyes seemed to fly. Afterwards Scarlett and company decided to get crazy. They jumped onto Cobra's rising base, and an attack they did have ready. Will their attack succeed? Will the Joe's survive? Will Cobra Commander's crazy scheme come back to bite him in the eye? The answers will be revealed today on almighty Sigma 6, so now give up your crazy thoughts and not so crazy picks.

Pretty much the only reason I'm still watching is because there's nothing else on.
It's sad that not even my faithful devotion to Joe is keeping me to this series.

It is sad to see how badly Hasbro has neglected the Joe's. I can only hope the episodes improve like last weeks did, but I fear they won't with Scott and Spud apparently sticking around.

I am... Going to catch this clunker if I remember to. Even though my memory of the Sunbow series has been dithered by 20 years of absence from my short-term memory, I still recall it being better than this...

Didn't watch. Got tired of those half-screen shots where they show two things at once, whatever that technique is. I've seen it used to good effect, here, it just seems to be used to try to trick you into thinking there's more action than there is.
Resit in peace, G.I. Joe. We hardly knew ye...

I can't believe they had Scott and Spud save the day, and then Duke invitied him to join the Sigma 6 team. I thought the episodes would get better (Duke vs. Cobra Commander and Baroness vs. Scarlett weren't to bad), but focusing on a kid and his robotic dog has changed my mind.
The VA's sounded a little bit better, but I can't stand hearing Seto Kaiba on the Joe squad (ok, so it wasn't Kaiba, but his VA sounded identical).
Swan and Mikoto win, hands down. With Scott on board for the ongoing season, Sigma Six is beyond any and all saving.
Anime GI Joe was a cool idea, at least until Hasbro and 4Kids got involved.

A complaint from last time: I was hoping that the other GIJoe characters might be on other Sigma teams...except we now know that there AREN'T any other Sigma teams.
Scott and Spud need to disappear. Quietly. Though the way Spud saved the day was humorous, it should've never happened. Endangering civilians and children...not something I want my military portrayed doing.
This episode was the best so far, but that doesn't mean much. I have lots of complaints, too much to list really. The sheer idiocy that makes writers put a briefing scene in where there doesn't need to be one, breaking the flow...argh.

Best episode yet, but that's not saying much. Finally we get a ton of action, although suddenly the show has become the Justice League:
Baroness creates holograms?
Destro and CC have forcefields?
Heavy Duty can punch though a massive steel door?
LAME. And that stupid kid still isn't dead. Still, this episode showed potential if they can tone down the superpowers and kiddie heroics.

Sure the show could be better if they did this or that but the same could be said for anything. I find the show entertaining as it is. Maybe it's because I don't remember the old show as clearly as most people.

Any particular reason you're using the GGG gals BTW? :) Well usually, if it's a 4Kids butcher, I post pinups of the girl from the show. Seeing as no Scarlett or Baroness hentai exists, however, I decided to find a much more efficent global security force, and focus on their ladies. Oh, and GGG's security can't be hacked by a stupid kid and his robo-pooch.
That and GGG's theme song is what Sigma Six wishes it could be.

Anyway, Spud *is* a stupid thing. Somehow Scott manages to hack into a Cobra computer system by hacking into the *GIJoe* system and by *accident* creates a canine precursor to the Borg.

Heh, ok so he wizzed on that generator or whatever. What I mean was that they don't give it dog like mannerisms. It's a quadrapedal robot, not a robot given dog behavior. It doesn't lick the kids face with a metal tongue after they screw up some Cobra robots.
Getting into Cobra systems using a GIJoe access card or whatever was pretty kooky. It doesn't bother me, I take it as a goofy uh, goof.

I know it is your opinion and all, but... even if you didn't see the original Joe series, SS is utter garbage. The story is dumb (if that is what you can call THAT), the animation is awful, the voice acting is just plain horrible, and they use super suits and beamsaws. How can anyone find any entertainment in that? If you want to watch how REAL joes should be fighting, check out the movie Small Soldiers!!

I may hate the show, but I'll say this much: Scarlett and Baroness are two of the things Gonzo managed to do right. Perhaps the only things.
And... Holograms? Force fields? Punching through doors? Damn it. Should have watched this for the sheer badness of it all.
Unfortunately, anyone wishing for this show to be cancelled is wasting their time, 4Kids TV shows don't ever seem to get cancelled... Except for F-Zero, no idea what happened there...
Sigh. I wanted SO MUCH to like this show... Now, I find myself only waiting for the day when we start seeing hentai of its women... Admitted, there are worse goals, but I can't seem to think of any right now...

Ultraman Tiga was also cancelled, but they were also known as the Fox Box at that time. Kirby never offically showed all of their epsiodes either.

G.I. Joe SS will get cancelled eventually if their ratings keep dipping at their timeslot. Ratings trends for most station should go like this--
8:00am lower ratings
9:00am rising ratings
10:00 am ratings peak
11:00am ratings begin to dip
11:30am same as 8:00am ratings
The problem with Sigma Six is that 4kids' ratings dip, and then GO UP again right after G.I. Joe is done. And it's been like that for every week it's been on. This means kids are actually taking their time to skip G.I. Joe and then tune in again to watch One Piece. That is bad, and is the same thing that killed F-Zero.

I can't believe he's actually a part of the main cast now. They already have a kid (Scarlett) and a computer expert (The guy with the goggles).
If they really needed a kid so badly, they could have just used Kamakura. Not like he has a convulted backstory based in the...
Never mind.
Sigma Six will be done by the end of the year. This is officialy worse than GI Joe Extreme for one reason.
While Extreme sucked, it didn't defile the classic characters. This does. So I'll leave you all with upside-down Scarlett.

I actually thought them making Scarlett a teenage girl was one of the worst things in the show. "Lina Inverse, Lina Inverse" is all I can think. Well, you've already heard me say this.
When was it that TV execs decided that every action cartoon for kids HAD to have kids in them? Sometime between Thundercats and Captain Planet? Okay, there was a fluke period in the 90s when they had X-Men and Batman TAS on (Jubilee doesn't count. She was a real comic book creation). So, like, kids can relate to them and stuff. Lame, just lame. KWB's Xiaolin Showdown must be the apex of this thinking.

Greetings Everyone, OK so a new Joe cartoon after all this time, and well, I feel like I'm still waiting for a new Joe cartoon after all this time. Here's the thing, I like Anime, and I like Gi Joe, you would think that I would be right on board right? Wrong. Ok here's my two cents, hopefully they don't get too lost in cyberspace.
Robot Dog and Hawks wayward son... Gotta go. I'm not sure why this was included, maybe the good people at Hasbro figured kids wouldn't relate to the characters of the show because they characters are not kids... Well I got news for you Joe cartoon creators, Kids often don't fantasize about being... kids, they want to be Heros, spacemen, robots, or maybe in this case... Duke, or Snake Eyes, or maybe even Storm Shadow. When I was a kid running around the playground I wasn't pretending to be a kid, I was pretending to be Snake Eyes, or Optimus Prime, or whoever...
Every second the kid and his token anime friends are on the screen we are losing valuable time with the other characters that I tuned in for... Which leads me to another point.
The people making this show really dropped the ball here. I thought Hasbro was going to take this opportunity to re-introduce Gi Joe to a new generation. If that's the case, then they should have started over with the show at the beginning. We should have seen Cobra emerge, we should have seen the Joe team being formed, we could have had 3 years of episodes with intro of characters like Snake Eyes, etc... By starting right back in the middle of everything, we're already left with them searching for PLOTS, maybe that's where the robot dog and kid come from I don't know. Should have started over at the beginning guys. Todays kids don't know the origins or the people inlvolved in the universe, and those of us who do would like to watch it better done than in the 80s, which wouldn't have been hard, but somehow I guess it is.
Now, yes, what I liked,
It's great to see so many of the characters used... Dreadnocks, Destro, Hawk, etc... I was worried by the small line of toys we wouldn't see more than the few they were making toys as characters.
I was surprised to really enjoy the look and idea of all the Bats. It makes sense in this day and age that it would be more easy for a guy like Cobra Commander to build an army of killer robots than recruit soldiers for hire, so yeah, more bats, cool, but lost in all the other stuff that stinks it up.
Duke isn't too bad, fun to watch, in the spirit of Joe and the former Duke, The update on Zartans camo is kind of cool, like halo-disguise or something.
Well, there you have it, my two cents, I'm not going out of my way to watch this either. The only thing that may save it is that I will be tuning in for TMNT which is on so near it, maybe I'll catch some of it sometimes.
YO JOE! Hire some new Writers, the kind that don't care about robot dog pee.

In this episode I thought it was good that Cobra Commander actually got his hands dirty and did some fighting instead of just sitting on his throne and barking out orders.
Then we get the android copout and the real Cobra Commander was long gone. :(

The funny thing about people talking about combining anime with G.I. Joe is that the Sunbow series was already pretty close to anime anyway. Back in the 80s, American TV animators leaned on Japanese studios a lot more than they do today (Korean studios stick more closely to the American style and freelance less), and gave them a lot of freedom to diddle with the storyboard and designs as well. That's why if you compared Sunbow's G.I. Joe with, say, Mospeada or Zeta Gundam side by side, they'd look very similar in style and design. For sure, most of the opening theme animations for most Sunbow shows WERE pretty much anime.
Unfortunately, anyone wishing for this show to be cancelled is wasting their time, 4Kids TV shows don't ever seem to get cancelled... Except for F-Zero, no idea what happened there... F-Zero: GP Legend was pulled due to poor sales of the corresponding GBA title and poor ratings as well. I have a feeling it might come back for a limited run IF a DS title is announced... (like with Kirby around the time of 'Canvas Curse') but I'm not holding my breath there.
I find it a bit of a shame, since I felt the dub (despite the changes, esp. the weird editing of ep. 7 in particular) was pretty good for 4Kids standards. However, given the direction 4Kids TV has taken in recent months, I'm actually glad the show was cancelled. As TZ's resident (and probably only) F-Zero fan, I don't think I could handle the embarassment of Rick Wheeler singing the Star Spangled Banner. (Then again, seeing as he and Raphael share the same voice actor, what's the difference?)
And the reason why 4Kids originals don't get cancelled, it's probably because they pump so much money into making them in first place. IMO (and to get back on topic), 'Sigma Six' is rather below par. =( It makes the continuity changes in F-Zero look good.

The real Cobra Commander saying that it was a test for the Joes. His plan involve getting power rock or stones. Now it get interesting to me. I could see that is is like the original.

I think that is a good point that the 80s Joe cartoon wasn't too far off from the anime style of the time. Cause, thinking about it hey, it is. That seems to have happened naturally, where as Sigma 6 is the product or some exec somewhere saying, "We need to sell these toys see... Kids these days they like those Japanese cartoons see... Lets have some of that, what's that kids name.. Ash and Pikochoo... Kids like that, how do we get Ash and Pikochoo in with Zartan and Snake Eyes... Kids will like that see..." And the rest is history.
Anyone remember Gi Joe EXTREME or whatever the heck it was? I think the good people at Hasbro should just worry about staying true to Gi Joe. Instead of placing Joe in the disguise of current trends. I mean good ole heroes fighting terrorist. That seems relevant in todays world right?
The look of the show isn't the problem, I think it looks cool, it's the writing or concept or ideas that need some help.
