In a recent article in Wizard Magazine writer Chuck Dixon talks about the upcoming Batgirl: Year One mini-series, which he will co-write with Scott Beatty.

"It's only been touched on twice as far as I know," said Dixon. "So we're going to show her reasons and motivations, and basically, how she became Batgirl."

The writing team of Dixon and Beatty will be joined be relative newcomer Marcos Martin. The creative crew is slated to do all nine issues.

And not only will the comic tackle the origin of the original Batgirl, but will also give us a glimpse into Firefly and Killer Moth. Both of these villians from the 1970's were major villians for the heroine. While Killer Moth has been changed into a huge real moth named Charaxes, Firefly remains the same stinkbug. Dixon plans to explain Killer Moth's animosity towards Batgirl, as well as tell the origin of the villian.
