I just did a search for "Dr. Katz" and found absolutely nothing.
What is the word on a Dr. Katz DVD release? That show had great success on Comedy Central and it would be a crime not to let an entire new generation of dvd watchers out there not to see the brilliant improvisational animation comedy that Dr. Katz brought foward!
I have seen copies of it on ebay, but have been reluctant to buy a non-sanctioned, unofficial version because the quality might vary...who knows?
Anyhow...who is with me? Who wants this dvd released? It has been long overdue. For Chrisake, have you seen some of the crappy dvds that have been released? I was at the supermarket and noticed a "Barnaby Jones DVD" on the rack...wtf???

I think it would be cool if Dr. Katz got put out on DVD, but I'm not sure if I'd buy the sets though.

Not sure if Rhino still has the rights or not (they released 5 or 6 VHS best-ofs, one of which I own), but either way, Shout! Factory should buy the rights to release it on DVD. After all, they did so with another Soup2Nuts production, Home Movies.
I would personally buy all six seasons if they came out. Dr. Katz is one of my favorite shows.

I think it would be worth its weight in gold....
A lot of the episodes feature some of the earlier, post-show humor of Ray Romano. He was one of the funniest guests on Dr. Katz's couch...
I faintly remember him doing a joke about how people have to name their twins with similar sounding names; so he suggested, "George and Shmorge"..
There was some other guy that would vent about the size of his dad's barbeque fires when he was grilling out when he was a kid...He described one of the fires as being "So big that flames would reach the sky so high that bird would drop from the sky...Birds!!...On Fire!!! ...they would fall from the sky...fully cooked!!!!!...and then he would serve them up!!!"
Of course the animators did a fab job at making a visual for that type of scene which made it great....you could say Dr. Katz was an early version of "Shorties watching Shorties"...but a lot funnier, because it was more in context....
Ben (H. Jon Benjamin's) character was the highlight of the show...his slacker, mid-twenties, dilsillusionment was classic...I could totally relate, being a recent college grad....I think there was one episode where he spent $2500 to buy some pot-bellied pigs to breed them, but I think he bought two females or two males and was out of luck on his investment...
He was also always hitting on his Dad's secretary, but she would have nothing of it...She was kind of an annoying...

so he suggested, "George and Shmorge".. Close- it was "Gregory" and "Schmegory". And yes, he was a great recurring guest. Though I always wondered why the animators made Ray look much fatter on the show than he actually IS in real life.
There was some other guy that would vent about the size of his dad's barbeque fires when he was grilling out when he was a kid...He described one of the fires as being "So big that flames would reach the sky so high that bird would drop from the sky...Birds!!...On Fire!!! ...they would fall from the sky...fully cooked!!!!!...and then he would serve them up!!!" That was Kevin Meaney, a hilarious stand-up comic whose catch phrase is "WHAT is wrong with you?!"
