View Full Version : Where'd the thread go?

 Just wondered where the 'Bruce's Failure' thread has gone ... we had a good Terry/Bruce/Batman debate going on there ... old stuff, I know, but it was interesting. Did we offend? Where'd it go? :(

Good debate? That's debatable. :D But what happened was that things were getting a little too heated, so DG nipped it to prevent a flame war. The guy tends to be a bit cautious, but since this board manages to be more civil than 99% of the boards out there, I don't blame him.

Thanx, Hatter! That's basically it. I first closed it and left it up for a few hours so people can see what I posted, then at the stroke of midnight, I deleted it. The debate was getting too heated and it was posts away from becoming an all-out flame war. I've seen this before so I know what I'm talking about. I actually got a couple emails from posters saying that if the thread isn't closed, bad things will come of it. Sometimes in a thread like that, ya gotta agree to disagree, and I all saw was a fight waiting to happen. So to all you who enjoyed the thread, I'm sorry, but I had to do it. It was getting just too ugly to continue on.

DG, I e-mailed you yesterday about it, but in case you didn't get it: I apologize if I was responsible for things getting out of hand. I never meant to be hostile, or aggressive, or patronizing, or to offend anyone. I apologize for the part I had in sending things the wrong way.

I never read it either. I'm not much of one on debates, and when I get into a debate...well... lets just say I would have been banned from this board...

I really hate threads like that. I participated in it once, and actually went back to it last night to see what I had been missing. Tangents like that tend to serve nobody any good purpose, and they give me a headache. It is for threads like that that I gave up on the DVD newsgroup I used to post on.

Oops.

Wasn't aware of any of those last posts ... the trouble with being on a different time I guess. Oh well ... I'll be a good girl (unlike my namesake) and won't start it again. I like you guys and don't want to get thrown off.

Hope we're all cool.

Peace.

only joking ... didn't get what the fuss was about, didn't mean to start a war ... bygones!!

Well, if you want it, you can keep it. No more for me, thanks.

I was a participant in that thread, and I'm a LOT more angry with myself than with anyone else. :(

I want to apologize to everyone else who got caught up in it, and to everyone unhappy enough to have witnessed that slow-motion trainwreck.

Hey all, I was one of the major forces of the thread's downfall. For those who didn't see it, I like to debate and I don't really care to back down.

I am sorry to Maxie and DarkAngel, though. Hope we can have some fun, less toned debates in the future.

Maybe you, me, Dark Angel and Clayface can have fun with midi-chlorians after I watch "Phantom Menace" again. ;) (That's a reference to a suspended discussion in another thread, in case you didn't follow it.)

BTW, I kept meaning to ask you about your sig-line. It's one of the most intriguing ones I've ever seen. What's it from?

Sorry I missed the Star Wars thing. Hm.

About the tag line, it is from one of my stories. I have been writing since I was wee lad, and since I have grown up (chronically-wise) I am still writing. I think it is sticking.

I have some artwork and poems and such stuff up.

:) Definitely, Periphery. I tend to get a little too into debates sometimes. Especially on topics/subjects I love. Maxie, you'll have to let me know what you think of the whole midi-chlorian thing after you see it again. I'll have to head over to the library, see if I can find a copy. And I'm looking forward to Episode II. It'll be interesting to see if Lucas adds anything else that'll cause debate.

Probably been done already. . . .

That is weird. It works for me.

I wonder if others are having such problems?

(I have it linked in my profile Maxie. You can try that.)

It doesn't work for me there, either.

Why does geocities hate me?

This is very strange:

I click on the address.
It goes there for a few seconds, and then suddenly switches over to a "geocities can't find this page" page.
I reloaded it, and then interrupted the transfer before it switched over to the "can't find" page. I got part of an image with references to golems and vampires and ghost links.

Any idea why it starts to load it, and then suddenly gets computer-alzheimers?

Oh my. Well, nevertheless, good call DG. Scary part is, I contributed to that thread before it started to go to the dangerous levels, so it's like I'm walking away from my car when a meteor hits it.

Seriously though I'm sure those in the thread won't let things rise to the levels they don't want them to. I mean, these posters don't make these the best bat/supe forums on the net for nothin'!

No worries!

Hm. That is weird. It does work fine for me . . . wait, are you using Netscape, because my page is an Image Map page and some versons of Netscape can't take them.

If that is the case, I can link ya right to the page that has my stories, poems and artwork:

Yeah, I have Communicator 4.6. The other link you provided does work.

Thanks.

I use both IE 5.5 and Netscape 5.5 and they work ideal for me. N complaints from my end of the woods.
