Long will announce the SmackDown! contribution to WWE Homecoming this Monday. It all goes down tonight at 8 p.m. ET on UPN. Unless you're under the preemption category in the preview.

Heading to Homecoming
September 30, 2005

Monday night's RAW on the USA Network will be one of the biggest shows in the history of sports-entertainment. Because of the magnitude of this show, SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long has done everything he could to make sure his show had a presence on "WWE Homecoming." Despite some resistance from RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff, Long was granted a presence. WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon will allow Long to hold one SmackDown match on the Oct. 3 RAW on the USA Network. Which SmackDown Superstars will take part in the historic match? WWE.com caught up with Theodore Long to attempt gain some insight on which Superstars will be involved.

Last week Eddie Guerrero was suffering from a mysterious stomach ailment that he thought might prevent him from teaming up with Batista to take on MNM. Eddie struggled just to get to the ring, but he miraculously recovered in time to tag himself in and steal Batista’s pin. At the end of the show Batista looked rather annoyed with Eddie. This week, the unlikely duo must put that aside and team up once more, as they take on L.O.D. for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Also last week, Ken Kennedy scored a victory over Rey Mysterio thanks to an assist from JBL. This week, Rey has enlisted the help of Hardcore Holly, and they will face JBL and Kennedy in tag team action.

Just nine days prior to his Handicap Casket Match with Cowboy Bob Orton and Randy Orton at No Mercy, Undertaker will square off with Cowboy Bob in a one-on-one encounter. Will the Hall of Famer be able to subdue the Deadman, and will Randy Orton be lurking at ringside?

Plus, the Divas will be in action when MNM's Melina takes on Christy Hemme. Don’t miss SmackDown Friday night at 8/7 CT on UPN for all this action and much more.

 No replies?!! I know we have the preemptions, but you have got be kidding me.

JBL was his usual self when it came to being in front of a Mexican crowd. I was wondering what the heck was going on with that huge inner tube.

Not a bad match to kick off SmackDown! with JBL and KK beating Rey and Holly. Kennedy had an even better old school microphone this week. He’s getting over huge, but the making fun of Tony Chimel isn’t going to lead to anything except embarrassment.

It was nice of Batista to think of his pal Eddie and take away the spicy food. After that stomach ache last week it was not the best move for Latino Heat. :p

So anybody like Christy in the biker outfit? That’s what I thought. :D It was actually a pretty good match between the red-headed Diva and Melina. MNM ended up being the difference maker, but overall I liked what I saw.

And The Undertaker continues to beat on Randy Orton and his daddy. This feud really needs to end and I’m afraid I don’t see that happening unless Taker does more beating. The Dead Man vs. Batista would just not be that interesting if you ask me.

It’s funny to think that if Bobby Lashley were a monster-sized heel rather than a monster-sized face that he’d be running over cruiserweights rather than being fed people who don’t even work for the company (and facing Simon Dean at No Mercy). Hey, former WCW official Mickey Jay was in there again.

“You beat him and I beat you” is a stupid argument to ‘deserve’ a title shot, but then again Sharmell pretty much came up with it.

Despite seeing it coming from a mile away, I give my thumbs up to the fatal four way at No Mercy as well as the triple threat match we saw this week. Tonight was a good match with a well-done finish and a week from Sunday should be a good showcase for some of SmackDown!’s stronger athletes.

Well Teddy Long really screwed up my poll by not actually announcing the SmackDown! match that will be on Homecoming (so I just closed it). I’m assuming battle royal with all the names he listed off, but who knows. I liked seeing Vince take the jabs at Palmer Canon though. Vinnie Mac doesn’t care much for network executives.

I was afraid we were going to have new Tag Team Champions for a little bit there. It wouldn’t be the first time the Tag belts have been used to build the main event. Thank god for MNM. I enjoyed seeing the old Eddie back as Joey took the fall for hitting Batista. Still, makes you wonder what Eddie is going to do to his “friend” Dave next week.

I don't get Smackdown!, so how can I comment on it? I did read the results though, and I'll say the crew headed to RAW's homecoming comes as no surprise to me. Benoit, Batista, and Christian did just come from RAW this year, but I'd prefer to see Booker T instead of JBL in the Smackdown! brand match. Booker has been on RAW since the brand split. JBL never has. Mysterio and Eddie have at least had some good matches where they deserve to be on the A show, but I'd rather have Randy Orton be on it as well.

I don't get Smackdown!, so how can I comment on it?I know that, you don't have to remind me. I didn't say "why hasn't bigddan11 commented?" I asked why no one had commented. If you can't watch the show you're not expected.

he was giving his reason of why he didn't comment on it
you just seem to contradict yourself there....he was just trying to add to the thread.

he was giving his reason of why he didn't comment on it :shrug:We love dan, but he tells us that every week. I knew his reasons and he addressed my comment specifically so I responded in kind. Did you see the show? Perhaps you could share some "seen it" thought.

That JBL speech went on waaaay too long. I lost interest in it as soon as it started.

I see no logic why Orlando is going to wrestle. He got beat in less than a minute each time he wrestled. At least it did lead to possibly Benoit's funniest moment of all time. His congratulations to Orlando was very hilarious. http://67.18.37.14/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://67.18.37.14/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://67.18.37.14/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://67.18.37.14/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://67.18.37.14/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Also very funny was Vince's crack at network exceutives. No doubt a reference to his troubles with Spike this week, as well as his constant problems with UPN.

I think the Tag division is slowly getting buried. With LOD getting the titles, it was bad, but now for the most part they can't hang with the big boys.

SmackDown!'s in a pretty big rut right now. It's not a bad show like it was for most of last year, it's just boring. There's really nothing "big" happening on the show. They need something to make viewers want to tune into the show, because right now they don't have that. They also need to fix the pace of the show. They don't have to add more wrestling, although that would be nice, but they need to speed up the talking segments.

Wow, a brief overview of Laredo, Texas. Don't make it too obvious what's coming up next, SmackDown!

The opening tag team match was decent. At this point I find JBL incredibly boring, but I'm happy to see him feuding with Mysterio just because of the possibility that WWE will use this to push Mysterio further up the card. I like Kennedy so far, but he needs to do something besides making fun of Chimel every week. I don't know why he doesn't have a match for No Mercy yet.

So why did I see a "WWE.com Exclusive" on TV?

Well Melina versus Christy was better than I expected it to be. I really wouldn't have any complaints if they would just quit screeching during their matches.

The feud between Orton and the Undertaker should have ended at SummerSlam.

Wait, they're going to have MNM versus the Legion of Doom and Christy at No Mercy? Why are Heidenreich and Animal still the WWE Tag Team Champions?

Hey, yet another appearance by Russel Simpson. I'm a little surprised that Simon Dean actually has a pay-per-view match, but it should serve as a good showcase for Lashley's power moves.

OJ... wins? I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. The Fatal Four Way match should be good, but I'd still like to see a real feud for the United States Championship.

Vince's appearance was kind of pointless. When they announced that there would be a SmackDown! match on WWE Homecoming I told my roommate that it would be Batista, Mysterio, and Benoit versus Guerrero, JBL, and Christian. I'd say my prediction is at least half right after Teddy's announcement.

The main event match sure was short. I liked the part after the match where Eddie tossed the chair to Mercury and then dropped down to the mat. I haven't seen him do that in a while.
