Does The Edit Line Still Exist?

I was always under the impression that the edit line only showed up if you waited a certain period of time to make the edit, or made multiple edits. I think if you make one or two close to when the original was posted, it doesn't.

Or I think that's how it used to work, at least. Dunno how it is now, because it doesn't show up for mods unless we list a reason for editing.

If you really want the edit line, you gotta enter a reason for the edit to make sure it gets there.

Yeah, it appears if you edit after a certain amount of time. I think it's somewhere between 20 to 30 minutes after the original post was posted.

Edit: Or as Style said, you could enter some text in the "reason for editing" field and it'll show up as well.

I actually think it's roughly 15 minutes. For the few talkbacks I do at TZ, I write them up on another program first and then copy and paste into TZ's reply box. It never seems to format the way I want it to though (most troubles deal with spacing between paragraphs), so I spend roughly 15 minutes apiece (or more) editing and re-editing until it comes out the way I want it to. And that's usually when the 'edit' line appears at the bottom.

(And it's probably still equal to the time it would take me to do the same thing on the fly. :sweat: )

Edit own post, edited by: appears after a length of time, entering a reason is optional. The idea is to keep members from making a bad post then changing it without a record.

The Reason for deletion confuses me as everything disappears :shrug:

I don't think we've ever had a "Edit Member" button. We've always had to do further steps to do that.
