Hi,
In the animated version of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" there are Chad and Tara looking like teenagers in opposite to the real movie, in which they are young adults. What could be the reason for the producers of the cartoon to make such a change for Chad and Tara into teens and in which age could be Chad and Tara from the animated series? For your opinions I would be very grateful.
Regards

I never watched the show, but it's interesting to point out that one of the animators for the series, Steve Troop, has a webcomic called "Melonpool". www.melonpool.com (http://www.melonpool.com)

I think they changed Chad from college aged to elementary school aged is probably because they needed a 'hip kid' character to star in the show. I'm just glad they ditched George Clooney's character from the movie. They would have really had to tone that character down, especially if he was made into a kid like Chad.
Besides, in the movie, Chad and Tara were a little too sex obsessed for a PG rated movie.
"You won't believe what she can do with six milk bottles, a lawn chair, and a tuning fork," is a running gag in the movie.
BTW, almost everyone in this cartoon, with the exception of the Censor Lady and a few background characters, came from the 'Return of the Killer Tomatoes' movie, but were drastically changed in one way or another:
Chad - In the movie, he's in college. In the cartoon, he's 12.
FT - No change, although the 'He's really a dog' one liner from the movie seems to have been adapted into the cartoon.
Tara - The movie version made her into a sex obsessed nympho. In the cartoon, she's just airheaded.
Igor - No change from the movie, except he didn't do the surfer dude thing in the movie.
Gangrene - No change
Wilbur - No change
The Tomato Task Force - No change, except Greta died in the original 'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes' movie.
Whitley White - In the movie he was 'Charles White'
Tomato Guy - No change, although his scene in 'Return' was just cut out of the original film.

DOes anyone know a site that has screen shots from every episode with a synopsis from the toon? I didn't really care for its first season, but the second season seemed like it was going to be better (and I liked the redesigns for Tara and the other characters) because the mad Dr made the tomatoes into large versions and captured all of the heroes.

Is this the cartoon where they sprayed them with salt so they become tomatoes? if that is the cartoon, then wow serious flashback:eek:

The only episodes i remember are Tormanato(i think) when he was send to the past to the destroy the heroes and the other was when the tomatoes become vampires and turn everyone into a vampire.

I remember this cartoon. It actually had some really funny moments, or at least they seemed funny to me (I was like 11 or 12).
The first season had one episode featuring a rather extensive Star Trek parody that showed the Tomato Task Force being totured by being shown repeated viewing of the original movie. It also had this classic exchange.
(Spock-like character): We must move quickly. We only have ten minutes till this spacestation explodes.
Chad: Didn't we only have ten minutes, ten minutes ago?
S-C: We're in a cartoon. Time's slown down.
Another episode had Ronald Reagan wondering Death Valley as Mr. Old Timer. Need I say more.
Season Two was even better. A hotter Tara (although time may have sweeten my memory, and maturity refined my tastes). The Main Tomatoes were made huge and given personality and then they conquer the world:zim: . Plus that reporter was always fighting with a Ted Koppel-faced tomato.
Wow, now I'm really wishing I could see these again.

Igor: "Doctor Gangrene, how do you come up with your brilliantly evil plans?"
D.G.: "A small vibrating dwarf comes to me in my dreams"
John Astin was perfect in that cartoon.
