I was watching Gladiator the other day. In the scene when the Emperor asks Maximus to remove his helmet and tell him who he is. I kept thinking he was going to remove his helmet and say "I'm Batman!...". I believe Russell Crowe has got the demeanor and look to play Batman.

I dunno, maybe I'd have to see the movie again, but I can't see him as Batman and I really can't see him as Bruce Wayne. If Year One is what they go with for the next movie I think he would be just a little too old.

I'd say Russell Crowe could do the demeanor and voice of Batman, but, IMO, her doesn't have the physical traits that I'd want to see in Bats. In the animated series, Bats is a large guy...I'd at least want an attempt made to show that in live action.

Added to that, i would like to see whoever gets the part bulk up, somewhat similar to what Tobey did for Spidey. That was something that the other three who played Batman didn't have.

I agree wit you there, optimal321. The past 3 were good actors, but not great Batman actors. Bulking up and at least "looking" the part is something I would want to see (same goes for whomever plays Superman).

Actually Val Kilmer did quite a bit of bulking up. Didn't help much, but he did.

speaking of Crowe word has it they want him to be the next Bond after Brosnan's turn is up, personally I always thought Sam Neil (Dr. Grant in JP) would be a good Bond, but he is too old now, on the subject of Year One, I think they should not use a big name to play Batman, find a new guy, no one would be happy with affleck, damon, etc. etc. except people like Joel Shaumacher. You can't have pretty boys, who's image would soften the series from the start, you need a young guy, but a physically intmidating guy with enough character and acting skills to pull of Bruce as he is very complex character, that means no pretty boys, not just any will do, and from Hollywood's current bucket o' poopies I don't see any people capable of doing Bruce Wayne/Batman.

I think Crowe has the demeanor to play Batman (watch Gladiator and you'll agree) but something isn't right. He'd be better than some of the guys they've picked so far (em...George Clooney..em) but not perfect.
I agree with ZorBrak, go with a no-name, I have always thought that was the best way to find the best guy.

If they can make Julie Andrews look 30 something again for her appearance in the Princess Diaries, they can do ANYTHING. Russel Crowe could make a good Batman with the right digital trickery.

I don't know. As talented as Russell Crowe is (I want to see "A Beautiful Mind"), I don't think he'd make a good Batman. He doesn't look like Bruce Wayne, nor do I think he could pull off Batman. I'd like to see a younger actor take up the role of Batman, maybe even an unknown. I don't like the idea of hiring big-name celebrities to fill the roles of comic book heroes. Look at Hugh Jackman; he was an unknown, but he did a great Wolverine.

Michael Keaton certianly didn't look like any Bruce Wayne that I ever imagined. Russel would be a closer match to Bruce Wayne for me than Keaton.

Yeah, and I didn't think he did either. I actually thought Kilmer came close to that Playboy Bruce Wayne type...

Absolutley how I feel. They just need to find someone how hasn't been named a star yet. *ME!!!* j/p
Just like what they did with Smallville and I think Spiderman(movie). They picked the star who isn't a hot-shot hollywood star like George Clooney. They picked someone who's fresh and new.

lol I'm not!! I'd jump all over the chance to play Batman! I got a deep, low but intimidating voice, I'm pretty much a loner, I don't like much "social" stuff as it were, physicallly I look like him, Height, Weight, Width, and Chin and GASP! apparently I can act pretty well, I don't know but every time I fake sick and stuff people say I am very convincing some even say "Man, I thought for sure you were about to blow chunks on the floor"...but thats the only time I act lol, and my friends can't ever tell when I'm serious or joking it pisses them off I think. But yeah maybe I'll end up being the next Batman :)...wow I sound stupid saying that so I'll shut up now sorry... :p

YUCK. I am sorry but I thought the Gladiator movie was not so great, and Russell Crowe as Batman... I'd rather see Adam West at current age play Batman. :)

Crowe would have made a good Batman a few yeras back, but I think his time has passed. Going with an unknown is the right route to go here. I can't think of any established actors who could pull off the cape and cowl look. If this was 5 years ago, I would have said Alec Baldwin, but he's too old for it now. An unknwon is the best way to go.

I would think a complete unknown would not be the way money hungry WB would want to go. Using an uknown for a Year One TV series would have been something different, but if they go with a motion picture, they are going to want a big name attatched to it. And I think the role will probably wind up going to some hot shot young actor from the WB's pool of actors, and they have quite a bit to choose from.

I think Crowe would make a good TDKR Batman; he has a weary, haunted look to him that would fit the character. The problem with "Gladiator" was not in his performance so much as that he didn't have a character to play.

Kevin Conroy is Batman. I'll never accept any other actor's portrayal.
