Okay, so I'm totally losing my mind trying to get my stupid computer to let me watch the Lost B:TAS Episode off this website:
http://www.toonamiarsenal.com/features/lostbatman/
So I went to the DivX website, and downloaded the free package (the one in the blue box, not the orange one), and my stupid comp STILL won't let me watch it. ERROR! Someone explain this to me, please, without telling me how retarded I am. I just want to watch these eps...

Well this is absolutely no help, but it works fine for me -- and it's definitely encoded with divx. Did you try using the divx player?

You mean opening it with the DivX player? I just assumed it would open with it, but it instead opened with Windows Media Player. Hmmm...maybe if I select the DivX player specifically, it'll work...
*runs off to try*

yea, you have to use divx, or you can download a plugin for winamp.
double clicking is not always the way to go for the future ;)
but what i really mean is, thanks for that website!

Okay, so I installed the three things that came with the package (DivX Player, DivXPlay, and a folder called DivX movies, where I plopped the downloaded the 1st chapter of the story into). Sadly, when I opened up the Player and opened the 1st chapter, it plays for a second, then loops with the visual frozen and the windows "do you want to report this error" message comes up. What now???

you used divx player right?

right.

right. sounds like your divx codec is malfunctioning, its not the player, it cant be every player. And a reinstall of divix codec didn't work. see if you can access divx codec config. it would be in your Start, Programs, Divx, Divx Codac, Decoder Configuration Utility. Go to the playback tab and see if you have automatic deblocking from th dropdown menu. if not select it.

Automatic deblocking was already selected. I reselected it though and clicked okay.
EDIT: "The exact error message was DivX Player.exe has encountered a problem and must close"
...sigh...

...sigh... Ok try opening it in the WMP windows media player. It should already have the codec. If it all doesn't work, try restarting the pc and reinstaling the Divx Play
or try opening it in Winamp,
another thing try uninstalling it and installing it again, this goes for both divx and the episode you downloaded.
they do work because i just downloaded them all and watched them, and they are pretty damn cool too.

VLC is your friend. Not realy. it opens basic stuff with lots of codecs, like Mpeg and avi, ans wmv and other windows formats and quicktime .mov but it doesn't open realone files like .rm or .rom, nor does it open flash files such as .swf, .flv or .fla
i'd like a player besides quicktime that plays .mov :/
i'd like any player besides realtime that plays .rm ....
but i can't change, i'm just a sucker for winamp, no matter how much better other players can be, i've used it for so many years now it is like an extention of my arm.

Then let us ignore its benefits - such as solving the original problem - and focus on its two drawbacks (what the hell plays Flash files outside of the Flash plugin, anyway?).

Flash files such as those I mentioned are video files that people make to... well watch videos in super high resolution quality. You made it sound like that player will play it all, I just pointed out that it doesn't play all but the basic stuff. No diferent from any other player. No need to get agitated.

Okay...now I'm yelling at my computer. This stupid piece of turd won't work no matter HOW many times I download or delete it. Honestly...dental surgery would be easier than trying to get this STUPID EPISODES TO PLAY!!!

I appreciate the help, I do...but what do I do if downloading DivX and the episodes isn't working?
download the latest winamp, it might have the codec built in already.
my 3.03 version of winamp plays it but i'm guessing i downloaded the codec for it.
