I have returned from a week and a half departure, during which I turned 17 on the 17'th{which Danielle kindly gave well wishes to}and prepared for the upcoming 11 day school vaca{yippie!}for some news that likely may not be relevant for some people, but may be to others. It's the nominees for the Golden Globe movie awards, though you often can't trust them as a accurate representation of Oscar nods and this year had a lack of well regarded flicks{though it ended with perhaps one movie violating my theory that no movie lives up to it's hype with the extremely postive buzz on "The Lord of the Rings"}but hey, at least it gave me an excuse to come back here. Here's the link to the nominees{many from movies few have likely heard of, BTW}

How can I possibly take these Golden Globe awards seriously, if they've nominated 'Legally Blonde' for Best Comedy, but not 'Monsters Inc'??

Happy Birthday, Robert! Ah, 17 years old....reminds me of when *I* was 17, when, um, er....well, there was a presidential election that year....and the *last* recession that we had.... and Kurt Cobain doing gangbusters on the music charts...
Re: the Golden Globes: I shall make my own completely ill-informed and possibly grossly inaccurate predictions on who might win some of these categories:
BEST DRAMA:
Gee, "Ali" isn't even *out* yet, and it's a nominee? Was thinking of going to go see it (geeky reference: there's a one-shot comic from the late 70's called "Superman vs. Muhammad Ali". Plot: Superman is forced to fight against the Greatest under a red sun by some aliens for some reason or other.). My guess: "Mulholland Drive".
BEST COMEDY:
As OK as "Shrek" was, I don't think these award-giver-types are ready to give such a prize to an animated feature, even if it was the highest grossing (unless "Harry Potter"/"Monsters, Inc." have broken its record) film of the year. Thus, my guess: "Moulin Rouge". (Note: I saw "Bridget Jones' Diary" with a friend of mine; he said the film wasn't as good as the book, since the film was watered down into the usual formulaic romantic-comedy. Which it did sort of feel like....).
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM:
Amelie...just because it's the only one on the list I'd heard of (it's playing at an art theater here in town)
BEST ACTOR PERFORMANCE IN A DRAMA:
Probably the star of the "Sopranos" or the star of "The West Wing".
BEST ACTOR PERFORMANCE IN A COMEDY:
Either "Fraiser"'s Kesley "Sideshow Bob" Grammar or "Will and Grace"'s Eric McCormick.
BEST TV SERIES (DRAMA):
The Sopranos
BEST TV SERIES (COMEDY):
"Fraiser" or "Will and Grace"
BEST MINISERIES/MADE-FOR-TV MOVIE:
Anne Frank
