Yes! Season 3 starts off strong. God, I'm praying that people are watching this show. It needs to stay on the air.
Oh, and Imoscar.com IS and actual site.
Score: 5/5 (The standard for AD episodes)

So much incest. Superb.
This show is the reason I have a TV. It was great to see a follow up to the Steve Holt/Gob relationship. And Steve's mother was named Eve Holt, I love the detail they put into this. If I keep talking about the things I liked, I'll just retell the entire episode. But Barry's really one of my favorites. Here's to another great season.

Anyone know why Henry Winkler is leaving the show? I hear he's getting replaced by Scott Baio Happy Days indeed.
With the exception of one of my favorite characters getting fired I liked the episode a lot. Poor George Micheal. Neither he OR Maeby can catch a break. I really hope they aren't related.
After seeing Tobias french a Smurfy Fonz I have no problems believing Lindsay wants a divorce.
Poor Oscar. I loved the reason Micheal finally believed him.
Lucille cracks me up. I was laughing hard at her cheering on Susan Smith. "It's 8:00 in the morning!" "So that's a yes?":D
Gob was even more disturbing than usual this episode. Him asking Micheal to taste his tears was freaky in the very best way.
"Say goodbye to these!" "They're blue too!"
Great stuff. ****1/2.

Anyone know why Henry Winkler is leaving the show? He's starring in his own series, Out of Practice.
No one on any of the message boards I read agrees with me, but I thought this might be the weakest episode of the entire run of the show. Didn't laugh once. The humor was a lot less clever this time around...almost 100% double entendres / scatalogical, which I like when it's done well, but they went kind of overboard with it.

Arrrrrg!
I missed it.
I have to remember to tune in next week.
If only they could swap time slots with the vary unappealing The War at Home.

That was pretty terrific. The Steve Holt/GOB arc is probably going to be one to watch this season. **** 1/2.

That was pretty terrific. The Steve Holt/GOB arc is probably going to be one to watch this season. **** 1/2. Easily, Gob = pure televison gold.
I loved this season 3 premire, Michael realizing that it's Oscar in prison instead of George Sr. made for some funny moments. I also found the whole fishing trip at the cabin to be hillariously because each time someone was being told they weren't going they were in the same positition with the same gear. :D
5/5 - AD does it again, hopefully this season does well so we can continue to enjoy the best show on televison.

I visited Imoscar.com, the hit meter on the bottom says it has only 42 hits.
I remember hearing last year that Steve Holt was apparently Gob's son. Well, now that the secret is completely back into focus, we'll see what happens next.
The narrator was really great in the second half of last season, and he was great again. Ron Howard sure knows what he is doing on the show.
Other favorite parts:
Mad Money (if you've ever seen that show you'd know he's really crazy)
Lucille's flashblack to being off medication
"Come on, can't you figure out I'm banging her?"
George choking
Even those are blue..

I'm going to miss Winkler as Barry Zuckercorn (he's very good!).
Ahhhh...where to begin with such a perfect episode?
I've been waiting for them to do this story with George Michael and Maeby, so it's good to see it finally happen. However, the end with Maeby and Steve Holz makes me wonder about Maeby. She seems to have a thing for people who may be her cousin. Granted neither of them knows it, but still.
Oscar in prison (while only lasting a short time) was hilarious, and the site that's a tie in is just as funny. If you haven't gone to imoscar.com yet, what are you waiting for?
Tobias never disappoints, I always laugh at him. The ending with Barry was great. I'll miss Barry though.
Gob and his son Steve is great, and as Lord Dalek said, this is an arc to watch this season. I'm sure we're in for some funny stuff.
And Luciele, is just as bitter and funny as ever. I couldn't stop laughing at her approval of a mother parking by a river and letting the parking brake go. Her doing the same thing to Buster by mistake was just great. As harsh as this sounds, I hope Buster doesn't get his hand back (at least not too soon), I'm sure it will make for some more funny stuff.
A great start to what will without a doubt be a great season. Here's to 21 more like this, and at least one more season. (I've heard that the exec.'s want to bring it back for at least one more season, for syndication reasons.)
And here's hoping it got the 15 million viewers, I can't wait to see them give Carmen Electra an emmy. When will we know the numbers? My opinion: ***** out of *****
P.S. : I think imoscar.com is fixed at 42 hits, that's exactly what I saw.

This was just great.
They have all these stories running along that they manage to weave together just right. And as some are closed off, others smoothly replace them.
I think that this show can't really top itself. They're just gonna give us more of the same. But that's a good thing in this case. More of this is impressive.
P.S. : I think imoscar.com is fixed at 42 hits, that's exactly what I saw.Yeah, it doesn't appear to be a real counter. Otherwise Carmen Electra will be very disappointed.
That site is only partially constructed. "Prison Letters" "Prison Cam" and "Fellow Inmates" don't work. But "Contact Me!" does. I think I'm gonna email Oscar Bluth. What should I say? Suggest a nickname maybe? Though 'doobie' is pretty good.
And what's with the "Merry Poppuns" thing? The javascript function is called "WinThisWeek"?

However, the end with Maeby and Steve Holz makes me wonder about Maeby. She seems to have a thing for people who may be her cousin. Granted neither of them knows it, but still. That scene was in the "next episode" portion, and correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the "next episode" bits totally fake and not regarded as continuity?

"Taste the happy, Michael! Taste it!"
"Tastes kind of like sad."
Perfectperfectperfectperfectperfect. Unbelievably perfect. My expectations were ridiculously high after waiting so long just for confirmation that it would be back, and then it's finally here, and it EATS MY EXPECTATIONS AND USES THEM TO UNLOCK GEORGE SR.'S HANDCUFFS.
Every single setup from last season had a payoff even better than I could have hoped for, and it was a laugh-a-second affair from start to finish (aside from the sad, touching shot of George Michael after finding out they weren't going fishing... amazing how well they work genuine emotion into the mess of hilarity, and Michael Cera is just gifted beyond the telling of it).
"Oh my God, you're Oscar."
"Dot com."
The imoscar.com background music is the "Buster's Father" recurring theme. Hee.
And Steve's mother was named Eve HoltEVE HOLT!
And the "He Came" statue...
"I kind of feel like that kid who found the severed hand."
"Hey, Dad, look what I found!"
"Anything for his father's approval. Heartbreaking"
[G.O.B. stands up, reprising the pose in the photo Steve saw of him in "Immaculate Election"]
"You look familiar."
"I think that's because we kind of look alike."
After seeing Tobias french a Smurfy Fonz I have no problems believing Lindsay wants a divorce."If this tableau I recreate, perhaps I can ensnare my mate!"
[i]"Gee, why wouldn't she want him back?"
but aren't the "next episode" bits totally fake and not regarded as continuity? Not "totally fake," per se, and some are worked into continuity (like Buster and the loose seal), but the majority of them aren't acknowledged again.
Lucille first beating the bed she thought Buster was in with the tripod (?) mercilessly ("Well, that was a freebie.") and then accidentally Susan Smith-ing him ("Good for her!") in the "next episode" segment... wow, she is truly in top form already. :D
Barry's exit, while sad, was absolutely brilliant and hilarious. It didn't hit me until seeing the end of "Out of Practice" on CBS before eagerly watching the season premiere on my TiVo that Barry was going to really, truly be gone.
The will is in the office, next to the hotplate with the frayed wires; oh my God, Lucille, he's really gone. I don't what I'm saying.
Words cannot express the utter love and adoration I feel for this show.

Definately the most underrated comedy in all of television. The final scene with Tobias and Barry sealed the entire episode for me.
My favorite Michael lines to his son:
"Why don't you pitch a tent in the front yard with your cousin.."
"this is a good chance for you to rub off on her.."
David Cross is so annoying that his character is actually funny.
10 out of 5 for the season premiere.

I think that's just a joke to prove how few people are visiting the site, because it said that when I went there a few minutes ago.
Great start to hopefully a great season. The only thing that could make this season absolutely perfect would be an appearance by 'white' Franklin.

Oh boy...I hate to dampen everyone's spirits but..
The first end of the "MNF" doubleheader between the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints (the game was rescheduled because of Hurricane Katrina) scored a 10.9/17 for ABC at 8 p.m. The debut of "Surface" on NBC took second at 7.1/11, just beating "The King of Queens," 6.9/11, and "How I Met Your Mother," 7.2/11, on CBS. The WB grabbed the No. 4 spot with the season premiere of "7th Heaven," 3.8/6. A move to a new night didn't help FOX's "Arrested Development," which combined with the series premiere of "Kitchen Confidential" averaged only 2.9/5 for the hour. UPN trailed with "One on One" and "All of Us."

Boogers. Well, we had to know it wouldn't last past season 3 anyway. Fox really has supported this more than we could expect.
I'm just hoping for a full run this year. Not the usual, production halted so Fox can air something during sweeps that people will actually watch.

If this continues, we can kiss Arrested Development goodbye by the end of the season, and this show deserves to be a hit.
Well, 58 - 62 total episodes should be more than enough for F/X or Comedy Central to pick it up for a daily rotation for the 2006 season.

Wow, I haven't watched TV on a Monday night since...hm...since Boston Public, I guess. Looks like I'll be tuning in every week for Arrested Development, though.

Wow, good eye, EightOh, I didn't notice that. Although I did remember Steve Holt being GOB's son. And now there's a possibility that GOB has other kids.
With all the incest and the attempt on children's lives and same sex kissing, this episode was still hilarious. I'm glad it's back, and I hope the ratings will get better as the season continues.
Is Buster's hand gone for good? I wonder how they're going to keep George Sr. around in every episode this season.
I'll miss Henry Winkler, he was great, and also:
STEVE HOLT!

*******ed mother****er I forgot that it was going to premiere. I'm too used to Arrested Development airing on Sundays and generally ignoring television on most weeknights aside from The Daily Show.
I wish they'd've bought some advertising time on Adult Swim like NBC had done with My Name is Earl, I probably would've remembered that way. ****.

Seriously, whoever gave Home that timeslot is retarded.

Too bad about the ratings, I really wanted to see them give Carmen Electra an Emmy. I'm not really a Carmen Electra fan, but it would've been funny.
As for another season, I'm not too worried. I'd heard they'd planned on bringing it back for at least one more year, so it could go into syndication. I can't remember where I found this, but I'll try to find it again.
And on a similar note, I don't think they'll be cutting the episode order. I mean if they want it to go into syndication, it would be stupid to further cut the number of episodes. They need a certain amount to go into sydication.
Tobias
09-20-2005, 05:30 PM
I believe the magic number for syndication is 100 episodes or more, and if this season was 22 episodes, that'd bring AD up to 62, so it'd take at least another two seasons to get to that number, although F/X could technically run the series five nights a week right now on the 40 eps from the first two seasons.
MacGyver
09-20-2005, 05:36 PM
The number is 100, but I've seen shows go into syndication after 4 years. So you figure on 88 or so episodes if it was 22/season. But in the case of this show it would be 84 episodes if they get another season.

I watched it again. Multiple cousins making out? Hilarious.
Michael making references to the sexual organs of his sister and his mother? Werid, but hilarious.
Watching it with my own mother? Hilariously uncomfortable.
****.Ooh, that's tough. It wouldn't be that bad if this was just an okay episode that you could catch when it reairs, or on DVD. But this was a good one. Really good. Not an episode that you want to miss. That's gotta hurt.
Anyone want to take any bets at how long before The War at Home is cancelled and AD takes back it's old time slot?
Seriously, whoever gave Home that timeslot is retarded.Yeah, even Jackie Harvey (http://www.theonion.com/content/node/40673) doesn't like it.
But seriously, War At Home has that spot so they can build an audience out of the remains of The Simpsons. AD couldn't get Mitch Hurwitz's mom to watch it on Sunday. Moving to Monday is probably a shot at trying something, anything different. Not that it makes all that much sense, but I understand it.
