Variety reports that one of the leading candidates to serve as a companion piece to "Witchblade,'' TNT's successful original series, is another comic-strip adaptation, "Dead Man.''
A two-hour "Dead Man'' movie will serve as the backdoor pilot for the proposed series. Spokeswomen for TNT and producer Warner Bros. TV confirmed the identity of the project, but stressed that it's in the early stages of development.
Based on a DC comic book, "Dead Man'' deals with a murdered man who comes back to oppose evil. But the plots will follow the traditional action-adventure format, laced with special effects.
If the script gets TNT's approval for pilot production, sources say that, as with Witchblade, Warners will shoot it in Canada, where a production cost of $1.4 million an hour goes further than it would for a series episode shot in the U.S.
Deadman currently has a new ongoing series, which begun last month in November. To get a rundown of DC Comic's upcoming books, just go HERE. To discuss this new series, go HERE.
