Something's been nagging at me since watching this last night. Terry mention's taking Bruce somewhere because of "...his back and all." Now it's been a big deal that Bruce has a bad heart, no surprise there, but other than that he seems pretty fit and still able to lay the smack down on occasion (please forgive lame wrestling reference). Now the major causes of back problems, besides injury, are poor posture and inactivity, two things Bruce can't be accused of.

So, this leads me to wonder if they are making a comic reference. I personally don't read the comics, but I've heard mention of a story line where Bane actually broke Bruce's back.

Anyone think they were trying to incorporate this into the series, or was it just another thing thrown into this episode that just didn't fit?

Maybe his back problems in Batman Beyond were just due to age. Bane just broke his back in the comics, not the Animated Series.

Hey, Larry Bird had back problems, and he was very active. I had back pains as a kid but that was just from rapid growth (not from Bane breaking my back then throwing me off a building). There are many causes.
