Yaay, the forum is back up again! Um, sorry about this talkback, I'm definitely no Mog at making lavishly formatted threads. If someone can make a better one, feel free to merge this with the other if possible.

Today was the first episode (I think). So let's go...

EDIT: Well whaddaya know? I don't have to type "Poll" in my title! But now I can't take it out. Blah, I don't post a lot of polls obviously.

I gotta say, I loved the line "She can't tell a knob from a broom!" (Obviously referencing the classic film Bedknobs and Broomsticks.)

They should have previewed this episode a few weeks ago instead. This was at least 50% more entertaining than the preview episode, and the jokes were actually funny! Loved Dori at the end "Oh well, he and I weren't working out anyway."

Of course, she didn't even know his name!

This feels a lot like a PBS kids show though. Without the education.

Love this episode, can't wait for next week's one. Also Larry don't beat yourself up that you didn't get to lavishing threads for this talkback this week you still kick booty when it comes to doing this type of stuff; you and Sensei.

You know at least unlike Winx Club or Mew Mew Power, Magical Doremi's sneak peak could be seen without being so confused on what happened in the series. This is defintley the first episode though with Do discovering the magical witch and turning her into a blob. There some pretty funny moments (liked the two uses of time freeze). Most interesting though is the idea that you can't use your magic to heal people without taking it upon yourself. So in other words there won't be any quick heals like you might find on other shows. It's a very unique concept that I don't think will get that much focus, I just wanted to mention it. I don't think there was much of Rei in this episode though. Oh well, that will change.

NEXT WEEK: I'm assuming this is the episode that aired as the sneak peak: Rei and Mi discovering about Dori, the witch and the fairy and getting they're own costumes and spellbooks and such. I'd assume there would be an episode between Dori being one and them (that I hope 4Kids didn't skip) but oh well.

I liked this episode. It was cute and funny and inoccuous without being sacchrine.

The unforunate thing is this show is on so early I doubt I'll be able to catch it that often.

Dorie using her magic to switch bodies with Reanne. The result is the classic plot of two characters living the life of the other. The week after that, Mirabelle is oficially introduced to the series.

i think i'm going to enjoy this series.
i love the acting and the voices.

like the premiere episode, i was just chuckling and laughing through the whole thing.

Patina "Don't push that middle button!"
Dorie "What button? This one?!" *pushes it*

i'm trying to figure out why someone like Patina would have that...she doesn't look tooooo cheerful in a sense. or enjoy bright things.
i think i use to have a toy like that (DreamSpinner) i could have sworn i did :) must have been an 80s thing.

Reminds me strongly of Hamtaro with a bit of Tokyo Pig in good measure. Not hugely enjoyable like Pokemon, but certaintly enjoyable to watch. Very cute with some good laughs. I also like the lead character (Do). I give this a 4/5 and look forward to upcoming episodes.

I think it was alright, slightly better than the preview episode. The fact that I'm not feeling the cutesyness to any degree, though, is a big distraction.

And despite Dorie's interest in magic, I thought her transition to learning how to put on the costume, use her wand, and fly on her broomstick all happened way, way too fast. The insert song I'll complain about too... not about the song itself (which was good), but about the placement. And it added to the rushed-ness of that entire sequence. Not good.

6.5 out of 10 for "Now I am a Witchling."

*checks to see if anyone I know is watching*

Well,,, yes I watched it,,,, just because MewMewPower was pushed back.
This was obviously a little too simple for me,,, but I didn't hate it. It was so simply cute that I did find myself laughing. Not pretentious as Winx or dramatically detailed as W.I.T.C.H. Was the old witch/green mushroom, the same voice as the the fat women pirate on One Piece?

I did catch the Bedknobs and Broomsticks reference, that was cute, I loved that movie. :anime:

Cute, decently dubbed and slightly humorous. But I don't think I'll be watching again. As for the target audience... this should be a welcome addition to Saturday morning entertainment.

I'd take this over Mew Mew anyday. I really liked how it's not the traditional Magical Girl series. That's what gives it its charm.

The + side of this show is that the episodes seem to have thematic variety and will play out to their logical conclusions. It's nice to have a kiddie show that doesn't have a "villain of the week" formula sometimes. Sometimes a "Dorie goes to the store and helps a cat home" simple kind of plot has its merits.

Still, you can't help but feel this show is for a PBS kids' kind of demographic. Even the theme song is targeted at a younger set than the usual 4kids' stuff (doesn't try for rap or pop music hipness). This might actually be a good idea though, marketing wise.

You know upon your PBS statement a while back when they announced Do-Re-Mi I thought 4Kids were actually going to air it on PBS Kids. However they did say next year thier going to be licensing preschool shows, so my guess is they either might air them on PBS or Tickle U or even ask Fox for another hour to cater to preschoolers on SAT.

Cute and funny define this show.
Dorei's sisters line "You don't even know his name do you?" just cracked me up.:D
This show should do well on Sat.s.

10/10

Ah yes. Speaking as someone from South America who has already seen the first two seasons, I can tell you Doremi's sister is my favorite chara from the series.

There were several "Oh, she can't be that stupid" moments for Dori, but what the hell, the team leader in magical girl shows always seem to be a ditz or a klutz or something. This is probably the youngest-skewing anime brought over to US television since Hamtaro. Not that that's a bad thing.

How does a witch society survive if they're screwed any time somebody says "witch" to their face, anyway?
