View Full Version : Can't Sleep
I haven't been able to sleep for several days now. I might get 2 to 3 hours a night, but I haven't touched caffiene in weeks. It's 1:30 in the morning central time, and I would really like to get atleast some sleep. Anyone got any suggestions?

I don't know what to say Otacon. I have the same problem myself, but then again, I'm not a "jump into bed and fall asleep" person, unless I'm very tired from the day, and sometimes I don't sleep in an instant too at those times.

Are you stressed out over anything at all?
I suppose you could try progressive muscle relaxation at bedtime. That usually at least induces yawning in me.

My bedroom this year is right next to an elevator, so don't tell me you can't sleep. ;)

I sometimes have that problem too, but it's mostly because I've stayed up too late a for a few weeks. Three seperate ways you can try to go to sleep is excersize, drink warm milk, or eat turkey (there's a chemical which makes you go to sleep). I mostly just find praying a good way for me to sleep though.
Okay, i'll try all of these tonight. Thanks guys! :anime:

When I need to get to sleep I try reading or writing in bed for awhile. It usually calms my mind down and lets me get to sleep. Or I pop in the first Lifehouse CD and I'm out within two or three songs:p

Sometimes I have trouble sleeping. I usually lay in bed deep in thought around 11:00 or so before I go to sleep. I usually wake up around 7:00 in the morning.

As long as you're getting at least a few hours sleep, the psycholoical damage is usually avoided. I've heard that after about three days of no sleep, the brain changes permanently. But with a few hours here and there your sleep cycle changes to get the important REM sleep faster. I've gone about four to five days with short sleep every so often, I hate it, but I can live with it.
The progressive relaxation, milk and/or turkey (milk is simpler but brush your teeth afterwards) are the best ideas. After that you're left with light drugs like aspirin. I avoid the sleep medicine because they put me to deep and I stop breathing, which then wakes me up again. Apnea I think it's called.

The best wat to fall asleep is to tire your self out. Just work out a bit before bedtime and try to listen to some slow depresing music, I recoment Linkin Park My December, That song is so depressing it puts me to sleep realy quick, it is realy a beutiful song though.

One way that I have tried to get me heading off to sleep is just run around the neighborhood once or twice, and you should fall asleep instantly, if you're in bad enough shape! ^^
Not that i am saying that you are or anything! ;)

Two suggestions:
Take some Benedril. It's lighter than sleeping pills but has similar effects.
Group together a list of songs in your head. Make sure the list of songs is around 45 minutes long. Do nothing except hum the songs in order while your eyes are closed. You will fall asleep within a half an hour.

eat more iron, drink warm milk, or tea with milk and honey. consume something containing chamomile. get more exercise. (im an ex-insomniac) i understand the feeling of needing sleep but not getting any. let's just say that I have seen many sunrises.

Read a book or comic, surf the net, maybe watch a boring movie. That's what I do.

Guys, are you sure we should be helping Otacon? Maybe not sleeping is the only thing keeping him from being eaten by a clown.
But if you're so interested in seeing the digestive track of a circus weirdo, Otacon, I'd go with the muscle relaxation thing. What I usually do is lie perfectly still in bed until I can't feel where my limbs are. And I also clear my mind of any thoughts (or I'll just let my brain go on auto-pilot). If I manage to do that for at least five minutes, I'll be out pretty soon.

eat more iron, Will mild steel work too, it's easer to find around the house than cast iron [/jk]

I found that working out later than 8:00 pm keeps me up longer, too much adrenilin and other hormones. And the shifts in sound level of music as the songs end and begin was always a problem for me. I'd like to try that random sound like was playing in the background when cynderblock first took the Plasmusguy from the prison in Teen Titans. But it would have to play all night to drown out the outside noises, especially around 4:00am.
