Jim Carrey (http://comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=11030#) is in early talks to team with Ben Stiller (http://comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=11030#) and play obsolete pleasure clones in Used Guys a comedy (http://comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=11030#) to be directed by Jay Roach (Meet the Fockers) for 20th Century (http://comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=11030#) Fox (http://comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=11030#). Variety reports that the plan is to shoot next spring.

Written by David Guion and Michael Handelman from an original script by Mickey Birnbaum, the futuristic Used Guys is set in a world where women run the Earth. Men became extinct because they ingested an enhancement drink that proved fatal.

Carrey and Stiller will play clones rendered obsolete by superior models whose enhancements include better listening and lovemaking skills. The scorned clones make a run for it, bent on regaining their dignity by searching for a male nirvana known as Mantopia.

Used Guys would mark the first onscreen star pairing of Carrey and Stiller, though the latter directed Carrey in The Cable Guy. It will also be Carrey's first film with Roach.

While it sounds like something Cartman made up while in that robot costume..... uhh... sounds like a pretty good concept.

This actually sounds good....but after that "3001" movie, I wonder if audiences want another futuristic comedy...but hey Carrey/Stiller, sounds like $300 million

The plot sounds geuinely "ridicu-funny." As in, it'll be stupid, but it'll know it's stupid and it's on an epic scale. The concept alone makes me laugh.

But I do not approve of a Carry-Stiller team-up. Particularly if The Gable Guy director is involved.

As always, the movie's good until you get actually Hollywood people involved.

EDIT: Huh...I think I knew Stiller had been the director at one point in time. But I forgot when I read this news.

Frankly, I don't think Stiller is best at comedy. He's better at playing straightforward guys to whom the comedic actions happen. Characters like Greg Focker. He can't actually drive the funny moments themselves, which is why he shouldn't ever direct again, in my opinion.

Hmm...it sounds like the perfect chance to parody "The Island, "Logan's Run", & "Blade Runner"

I still don't like Ben Stiller and I'm disappointed to not hear plans of another Jim Carrey drama coming soon. Frankly, his recent comedies (Bruce Almighty specifically) haven't been good. With comedy, Jim Carrey seems to be delving more and more into an auto-pilot type mindset in which he just tries to do Carrey bits and pass that off as character development (Bruce Almighty specifically). I don't know how Fun with Dick and Jane will be.

Fun trivia: Jim Carrey was originally cast as the lead of "Meet the Parents", and contributed his own ideas to the script, including the name "Focker" before backing out.
