View Full Version : Isn't Naruto supposed to be on AS?

I recently saw the promo for Naruto and thought why it would be on toonami? I understand for the undubbed versions that you can download would be something you can show on tv but it seems too violent with the weapons they use.
Does this mean that the dubbed versions would be different from the originals? I mean within the first 10 eps they already kill someone in cold blood and by a child no less...ie the kid in the mask. I haven't seen that many episodes but, does that happen a lot in this show because if it does, cartoon network will be getting many complaints from parents before the show can get a chance to show what its got.
Why would CN take that kind of risk when it would be safer to just put the show on AS? But either way I just can't wait to see the show because it seems good even in chinese. So I wonder how the english version would turn out?
Thank you.

Thank you.Okay, here is what I heard.
It is gonna be on Toonami sometime in the late timeslots, BUT it is going to reappear a few hours later on AS in the less-edited version. Kinda like what Toonami did with Gundam Wing.
Either way, I don't care. Never really cared for the show.

It probably isn't true. I heard it a few months back on ANN, I think.

By that I mean the intro and exiting songs, the stroyline they follow, the editing being less because of its time slot and so on.

Wrong department. You need to ask that in the anime forum.

Short answer: nobody knows. Based on various interviews: yes. Based on Viz/ShoPro's track record (Hamtaro, NT Warrior, Zatch Bell) no.

Viz did Inu Yasha.

Can you honestly sit down and watch a complete episode of Naruto (it can be the darkest, goriest, most fanservicy episode of the series) and think to yourself that the show is absolutely not suitable for those who are not Adults (which is what Adult Swim is gunning for), and should only be played at night when the "kiddies" are asleep? Seriously, I'm asking you a question here.

Viz did Inu Yasha.Yeah, but it also airs on Adult Swim, where original music and whatnot is a given.
Even on Toonami, it's not anymore... as shown by Zatch Bell.
Of course, this is the first Viz show since the ShoPro merger, so there's no true precedent to go by, but based on history, NT Warrior, Hamtaro, and Zatch Bell are closer to Naruto's market than InuYasha, so if we're going by history it only makes sense to compare Naruto to those shows over IY.

I find that last statement questionable. Naruto is far closer to Inu Yasha's market than it is Hamtaro or Zatch Bell's, even if one is Toonami and one is Adult Swim.

Naruto was announced by Viz Media and Cartoon Network for Toonami for the beginning. They have never said it will air on Adult Swim, and frankly with ASA premeires occuring at the same time, they wouldn't have time for it to air on AS anyway. Furthermore, Toonami is getting an instant encore a week later, so I doubt it will ever air on AS.
Also, I don't know how you got the impression at ANN that it was on AS. they never gave that impression in any of their articles. they specifically stated that CN aquired it for Toonami. Maybe somebody in the forums gave you that impression, but that's not ANN's fault.

Whatever. There were hundreds of rumors floating around months ago on the internet about Naruto airing that I couldn't keep track of them. Thanks for the facts though. And thats all I need or want to ever know about Naruto.

This speculation sounds good, but is there any solid backing for it?
I do, in fact, suspect that Oda might not be very happy with One Piece's treatment int he US.

Naruto is more adult than scryed or inu yasha IMHO.
I mean, what happens to Rock Lee throughout the series is a lot more brutal, and really a more adult look at the consequences of actions, than "Inu Yasha goes off to get another power for Tetsusaiga that he will again fail to kill Naraku with, but everyone's just like before"

This is a dumb argument and the answer was already given so I'm closing this.
