Eh. I guess it's impressive for a 26 episode anime with only....what? 7 discs?

August 25, 2005 (Cypress, CA) – Bandai Entertainment announced today that home video sales for Shinichiro Watanabe’s ‘Cowboy Bebop’ has sold more than a million units in North America since its original home video debut, again raising the bar for anime series released on DVD. In addition, Bandai Entertainment is also set to release a definitive special edition titled, ‘Cowboy Bebop REMIX’ on September 13, 2005.

Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe (Samurai Champloo), ‘Cowboy Bebop’ took its edgy and action packed story and helped introduce a whole generation of television viewers to anime during its broadcast on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block. With its jazzy music soundtrack provided by legendary composer, Yoko Kanno (Escaflowne, Wolf’s Rain), and character designs by Toshihiro Kawamoto (Wolf’s Rain), ‘Cowboy Bebop’ continues to garner top ratings on Adult Swim and continues to represent the very best in Japanese animation.

Chronicling the adventures of the bounty hunting crew of the Bebop, ‘Cowboy Bebop’ introduces a colorful cast including Spike Spiegel, the ex-gangster and the epitome of cool, Jet Black, the gruff ex-cop, the mysterious femme fatale, Faye Valentine, the genius hacker Ed, and the quirky data dog, Ein. Together they delve into a journey towards their past and all the while, cleaning up space, one bounty at a time.

‘Cowboy Bebop REMIX’ is slated to bow on DVD home video September 13, 2005. The first volume of this definitive release will feature an entirely remixed Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround soundtrack for both English and Japanese language tracks. REMIX also promises fans of Cowboy Bebop a wealth of DVD supplementary materials including commentary tracks, interviews, and more. ‘Cowboy Bebop’ will also be making its way onto PSP™ Universal Media Disc with the first volume of this format scheduled for release on November 8, 2005.

Bandai seems to be going the "Last volume w/box" route lately.

Which I love.

BTW, 6 discs for the original Bebop release, and remix will also be 6 discs.

It's seven discs if the movie is included, though Sony has the rights to the film.

They're remixing the movie as well?Sony distributes the movie. Not Bandai. Why would they even need to remix it?

i doubt there will be one. I am so hoping for the vol 6 with box option. And since they seem to be doing that every month release, it should be done in Feb.

Too bad i was never able to get the Original Box set, that would have put me up there in that Elite Class on the Road to One Mill.

Well, seeing as they're remixing the audio, I'm sure they'll probably just reuse the video from the previous collections. They were pretty good, right? And they'll just slip in the extras and it'll be all good. That's what I'm assuming at least.

God, I'm so glad I waited on buying the series... Can't wait!

...The only difference between the old DVDs and the new ones is that they'll be in 5.1 surround?

So I shouldn't buy any more of the regular discs then. Good to know.
Glad I only bought the first one so far.

The only difference between the old DVDs and the new ones is that they'll be in 5.1 surround? the dvd extras will make up for that being the only difference
