KUSO!!!!! It should have gone to Adult Swim. Well at least I still get G4.
Oh, come on! G4 may not even be around in a few months.
Dissapointing news indeed.

G4's pulling out all the stops to stay alive. Even bringing back old TechTV shows.

Well, yeah. Cromartie is a 12-minute show. It was pretty much made for Adult Swim.
And is it just me, or is the volume on G4's anime incredibly low compared to the barrage of commercials and graphics that surround them? I literally have to put the volume on full blast to be able to listen to Gungrave, and make sure to quickly hit mute once the commercials arrive lest I and my neighbors become deaf.

I don't hate G4. It's a fun channel to leave on while you do more important things... But I really wanted Chromartie to be on Adult Swim. The 12 min episodes make it perfect for experiementing with 1/4 hour animes to throw on Sunday or heck... they could have put it before PHF on Saturday in November (that was kinda what I was hoping they'd do). There's also the added bummer that most people get CN (who have cable) and not that many get G4 still so it gets little to no exposure this way. I'm happy it's on TV but honestly this is drag still... it really should be on Adult Swim. They owe us that much for Milk Chan.

And G4 can't work with this? Show 2 at a time, problem solved. And we know they edit for time already, so that'll be a given.

I figured your reply would be a simple "It just feels better to watch it on AS" kind of reply, until I read the italicized part. Good point, Sketch, good point. However you could then apply the desire to stations in more homes, but then you're just getting unrealistic.
But in the end, G4 bought it, whatcha gonna do?

I'm just happy some one had the vision to try it. It's not often in this myoptic era of television that some one willing to try a genuine risk. It'd be nice if were on a channel that more people had, but it's probably gonna get more exposure on G4 than on Anime Network Linear, so atleast some people will get to enjoy the craziness that is Freddie and Mechazawa.
/btw, I already own the dvds. that's probably why I'm not taking it so hard. just wanted to make my biases clear.

G4's struggling? I'm behind, where's the source that points to that statement of it's apparent dismal performance.
But in any case, points on though for it being on TV.

This is one of the better anime comedies I've seen recently. Glad it's coming to TV- I can see it finding an audience with people who love bizarre shows.
As for going to G4 instead of Adult Swim... a couple years ago I would've agreed (especially since AS has the handy 11 minute format where Cromartie could easily be combined with an AS original), but recently G4's been airing a few comedy anime as well. We got Abenobashi and Colorful, and now this.

Honestly I don't think it matters what G4 has aired already. Adult Swim would have been a better home. The ATHF crowd would have love Chromartie as would the anime fans. But it's a lost cause now. I'll watch it on G4 if I get the chance but December is pretty far away as it is.

When it comes to comedy, Adult Swim looks booked full. I was going to type another sentence here but that would've sparked a whole nother argument worthy of another thread entirely.

It probably would be better on Adult Swim, but yes I do like te fact it's on TV. So... is G4 going to play two episodes of the show or are they going to streeeeeeeeetch those commercial breaks?
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to argue with TechTVites (I loved Tech TV as much as the next person) but why did they end up getting bought out by G4? I think I remember Leo at one point saying that other companies were looking into buying TechTV. Also, does anyone have a way of finding out G4's ratings? The only thing I know for sure about that channel is that X-Play is obviously their number one show... you can't miss it anywhere. :D

If G4 bought it, it probably means Cartoon Network rejected it, so think about that. Maybe Adult Swim doesn't WANT any more comedies from ADV.

Very good point there.
To me, it seems that Adult Swim prefers tapping into the "action" anime pool while G4 is slowly edging more into the "comedy" anime pool. Makes sense, really. Adult Swim has its own original comedy series, and G4 can't make shows worth crap so they have to bring them in (Happy Tree Friends, anyone?).

It's nice to see G4 continues to make anime acquisitions, which means they remain committed to keeping anime in their lineup. Being available to 45 million cable households (CN is available to about 85 million households) makes it the #2 TV anime outlet. And if it starts emphasizing anime comedy then it provides a real alternative to Adult Swim with its emphasis on action shows. (^_*)

After Super Milk Chan, would you?
Still a shame though that Williams Street went and picked the absolute worst show in the stable.

Or Cartoon Network hemmed and hawed about it so long that yet again they had the rug pulled out from under them.

Being available to 45 million cable households (CN is available to about 85 million households) makes it the #2 TV anime outlet. You mean #4. Kids WB is in 108,000,000 homes and 4Kids TV in at least 100,000,000.

Actually, 12-minute episodes are more suited to G-4, because they can put 18 minutes of commercials into each half-hour, which is almost as much as they are doing now.

And the "Barbed Wire Biscuit" press release at G4 (http://www.g4tv.com/html/about/press/showrelease.asp?pressrelease_key=86) mentions it near the bottom, in the "Anime Unleashed" paragraph.

It isn't as though I think the show will get unfair treatment at G4, it's just that Cromartie and, to a much lesser extent, Rahxephon, are kinda... wasted over at G4. Their attempts to woo a larger share of the Spike TV/adult swim/Comedy Central audience doesn't seem to be paying off, and we all know the network's time is nigh. Plus, burying their shows inbetween raunchy imported game shows and showcases for "semi-pornographic" Japanese games just doesn't sit well with me. Rahxephon sure isn't the best thing in the world, but it deserves better company than that.

It doesn't make me happy that the suncoast I used over the summer only got one copy of the last CHS DVD. (Yeah, I'm happy I was the one who picked it up but that can't be good...)

Hey thanks alot guys, i couldn't find the links anywhere i appreciate it guys  I for one, i'm happy it's going to G4. I was hoping it would come to either G4 or Adult Swim, but as i thought about it more i couldn't see it going to Adult Swim. At least i can watch it on G4, unlike on the Anime Network because my stupid cable provider doesn't have it.. (screw Comcast i say...) even though i've been watching all the episodes so far on Anime Network On Demand :D and i think its funny as hell. Can't wait for December

Yeah, I've been watching it on AN On Demand as well. It's pretty good so far, very funny stuff. I'm glad that ADV is letting their programming air on TV networks that's not their own (like I said in a previous post, it has to be because AN isn't branching out as much as they were hoping it too.) I do one day hope Anime Network gets on more services as a 24/7 anime channel would be entertaining. But right now I'm just happy some network is airing Cromartie before I officially buy the DVDs. I don't mind buying DVDs, but I'd rather get a general idea on TV before actually pulling out the money to buy them right away.
