Everyone have fun at otakon this weekend?
Also, anyone catch a showing of the fan movie "Final Fantasy vs Kaiju Big Battel"?
(I'm in the movie in a couple parts ^^)

=^_^= soooooo much fun!
Saturday, I got to be a part of a large Gundam SEED photo shoot in the main room, where we must've had over 400 pictures taken. Then a couple of guys from BLEACH came over to us and wanted to fight us for our "time slot", so even more photo ops fighting them. I was a little disappointed being the only military Cagalli there (or at least, didnt' see any others), but I made great friends with a Kira, Athrun, and Lacus. We then proceeded to the Otacafe and belted out a meddly of SEED songs, Athrun being our final performer before we surprise-glomped him(her) as he(she) was walking off-stage.
Then, of course, as Winry on Sunday, I managed to wrench a few Edos, and got several picture requests by simply hanging out by the giant Al statue down in the dealer room.

I definitely had a lot of fun at Otakon this weekend. I attended a lot of interesting panels (i.e. Fullmetal Fantasy and the ADV Films panels), I got some interesting stuff in the dealers' room (i.e. a plushie of one of the Pac-Man ghosts, an Ichigo Mashimaro pin, and two Negima Figumate figures; most of what I bought is listed in the "what you buy this month?" thread), and I enjoyed watching the AMV Contest.
BTW, my photos of the con will be up later in the week (possibly Monday night).
While I did have fun watching Guu, Kodocha, and Cromartie High, I must say that the Voice Actors saved the day for me. Especially since CPM was the only major studio that could (and did) announce something. Scott McNeil is friggin crazy. (He was so used to signing for fangirls [there was about 20 fangirls in front of me in line] that when he signed my EW cover, he put a little heart on it. :P)

Scott McNeil and Richard Cox were the only VAs I got to meet, but they were just awesome. I got a little heart with my autograph from Scott as well, though I am indeed of the female variety. Richard was pretty crazy as well... I don't know about anyone else, but on my DVD cover he wrote 'yay toast'. ;)
I thoroughly enjoyed myself the whole weekend - the only slight disappointment was the Case Closed panel on Sunday. Nobody on the panel bothered to show, except for the Score Entertainment (I think) card game guy, who did his best to give us some sort of substance for our time. At the very least, I got a free starter deck of the CC TCG. n_n;
I caught a lot of the anime viewings as well... Kodocha was cute, but Midori Days was my surprise favorite of the con. Aside from a little blatant, totally unnecessary fanservice, it was incredibly enjoyable - insanely hilarous at times, and very touching at others.
This was my first Otakon, but I'm definitely planning to go back next year. :)

I know this is a bit late, but ladies, if you ask, Scott McNeil WILL hug you. And will continue hugging you till you let go, he'll carry on conversations and everything.
He friggin rocks!

In short: Best Otakon Ever!
For me anyway. The yaoi/yuri paddles decreased so drastically there aren't words to describe it, I was kept busy with panels, the AMV contest was far and above last years, the masquerade was awesome (especially if you had a nintendo DS, those who were there and have one know what was going on). The masquerade was entertaining and organized. I won free stuff from Funimation (as usual, Funi is cool like that). I spent time running around taking pictures and hung out with all my friends who I rarely get to see....I wasted a lot of money that I don't have to waste in the dealer's room and artist alley.
THE DEALERS ROOM ROCKED!!! It was huge, I was so glad they got the extra space and separated the big guys from the smaller booths. The big booths had been eating away space in the dealer's room at the expense of the smaller guys and it's been a complaint of mine for years. It's almost as if my wish was heard and granted.
I hope next years goes as well, rock on!

Oh yes, he was giving out many, many hugs. And of course, each time he did, the fangirls in line would squee with delight. ;) Actually, Richard Cox gave out several hugs upon request as well.

The best part for me was the Geneon panel. I went crazy over the Hellsing trailer, and the Indigo Blue QA was pretty funny. Plus it was cool to see what they planned to bring over in the next year or two. The first ADV panel was great, but the second was just boring. Anyways, a good year, even if Viz and Bandai cancelled.

Yes i loved it.
I loved the dealers room, espeacially since I got to buy Gunslinger Girl (awesome series). The voice actors were nice, and I also liked going to see screenings, very fun :)
My friend had my name announced though, to embarrass me, geez I told her it couldn't be done, but it was. It was in the gaming room, she zoomed off when i told her she would never be able to embarrass me, next thing I know, they are saying "Nick Lambert Hobbs" over the PA, (lambert is a family name). So yes i was highly embarrassed, and you might have heard my name lol.

I had a good time. Won stuff from Funi, Geneon, Anime Crash and ADV. Lots 'o sweet swagage.:D
The premire of the fan parody I was a part of also went insanely well. We filled video one so full they had to close it due to a lack of space.
Yeah, I saw that kaine. Who were you in the film?

Yeah, I saw that kaine. Who were you in the film? I played the smaller minion who killed the larger one accidently in Round One (I was wearing the gas mask). btw, the "I got dumplings" scene was one those running gags that lasted all day with my friends when we filmed and we put it in the film. ^^
2nd scene was one the Los Plantanos during Final Round, the one who got dragged across the mat. Funny story: my getting dragged and the dancing on the minion's face weren't supposed to happen that way, ended up being a result of my friend and myself not being able to see very well in the outfits and something spontaneuos.

I saw a group of cosplayers going as Fighter, Black Mage, Red Mage, and White Mage from 8-bit Theater. Oh, and the Four Links from Four Swords. In fact, there were a LOT of Links at Otakon this year. And Green Rangers. Wonder why...
Oh, and it's always great seeing Rabbi Wolfwood.

Dude you saw him?? Damn, he's my favorite otakon cosplayer (sorry cardcaptor will) but i didn't get to see him. :crying:
Oh yea, almost forgot about the Late Night Voice Actors panel. That thing was friggin crazy! First everyone was acting insane, then Monica Rial brought in Pink Snowballs, told all the VAs to peel the outer layer off, then told everyone to throw said outer layer into the audience, so we had a food fight for a while. The panel started at 10PM, but the introductions didn't get finished until 10:40 or so. BEST. PANEL. EVER!

The newest Link design was a friend of mine. We had a contest going to see how many photo requests each of our costumes got. He had the reigning count of over 100 that day until the Gundam SEED photo shoot...hah, boy was he ever miffed....

No, last year with Monica..............doing something to the microphone that I can't talk about on TZ, and then me getting her to do it again at the daytime panell, that was the best ever.;)
Almost forgot: By far the oddest costume I saw (aside from Trogdor and Pac-man) at Otakon was Willy Wonka. I kid you not, I saw not one, but two Willy Wonka costumes. Chewbacca is stretching things enough, but WONKA?

Given that there has been doujinshi of various Johnny Depp and Tim Burton films, it's may be less of a stretch than you think. Besides, considering that there was Pirates of the Caribbean cosplay at last year's winter Comiket, why not have Wonka cosplay at Otakon. If anything, that's getting more into the Japanese spirit of cosplay.
Or something like that. I dunno. ;)

There was an Austin Powers that crossed my path the last day at Metrocon some months back.

Actually, there were THREE wonkas. There was a female, an american with glasses, and an asian guy dressed as him. The third was the most dead-on, but they all had pretty good outfits.
All we watched was "Star Fleet". It was SO great, you people don't know what you missed. Puppets!!! In space!!!
The "how to make anime" during fan parodies was by a friend of mine. I was surprised it got fewer laughs than "S.T.E.A.M"...which I found absolutely painful to sit through. I'm sorry, but none of the jokes worked for me.

Chewbacca is stretching things enough, but WONKA?Hey, I was one of those Wonkas! And there were actually about eight of us. Stupid me, thinking I had an original idea. :ack: But, I guess with the coat and hat on sale in Hot Topic, every anime fan is bound to have the same idea. I made my costume, though. No easy way out for me. Just wish I had found a suitable wig.
The VA pannel was quite fun, even if it lasted half as long as it was supposed to. Voice actors are just so fun to interact with. For the record, Monica Rial didn't ask anybody to throw the snowballs, she simply tossed one in the air to demonstrate that they could be used as frisbees, and the rest of the room then decided to continue the "demonstration."
I regret I could not get into the Friday fan parodies, but I made sure to see S.T.E.A.M. on Saturday. It wasn't as good as Otakudom, but it had a 24 reference, and that makes it OK in my book.
On Saturday when I was dressed as Wonka, I was assaulted by an annoying man with a camera crew, asking me why I was dressed as a pimp. I explained that I was cosplaying Wonka, and then he started asking me why I wasn't wearing the official gear. Then he moved to my friend, dressed as Yohji from Weib Kreuz, and prodded him to explain why he wore a cross on his chest. That guy was even more annoying than the Oh My God crew.
It was my first Otakon, but it certainly won't be my last. I've already got 2006 marked on my callendar. Next time, though, I'm not going to dress as a character that will attract so many creepy 15 year-old girls.
I'll have pics of the con on my site soon.

There was everything at Otakon this year from Wonkas, to Teen Titans, to Japanese Pocky boxes...to, and I kid you not, a guy walking around with an arrow pointing to himself that said "generic asian male". It was awesome.
This was my first Otakon, too, and I'm already planning out possible skits to do next year with friends. one for Gundam SEED, one for Naruto, and one for FMA.
btw...if anybody was there, and has pictures of me as battle-Cagalli (Saturday) or Winry (Friday night/Sunday)...send kudasai!

Perhaps next year we should try to get all the TZers together and meet our real life selves. It's likely that we were walking by each other all weekend. I would have certainly welcomed the chance to hang out.
The Generic Asian Male is one of the coolest guys ever. I met him at Genericon, a convention here in upstate New York last January, and was surprised--though I probably shouldn't have been--to see him at Otakon. He explained to me how other asians were coming to him and saying how they were offended by his stereotyping himself. A bit baffling, I'd say. There were a few people from that convention that I ran into, including one of the people running the cafe karaoke room. There was a girl who made a fantastic gold cirque-du-soleil-style costume on Saturday, who also wore her white feathered outfit from Genericon on Friday.
I got my share of pics here (http://pcomics.topcities.com/eviljim/ota2/index.html).

We've tried the meet-up deal every year. We never pull it off for some reason. I thought we had a plan this yea,r but no one showed any interest in trying to make it work, so I gave up.

I forgot about Buddy Christ there, he was great. I saw bender, too, and Trogdor. Trogdor was being stopped by people outside the con asking what it was supposed to be. Ordinary baltimore people. How can you even explain it to someone who isn't an internet nerd?
