This is not why i dislike animated wonderwoman thread..cause i do like her...shes just so flat. They have spent years working on Hawkgirl makeing her one of the deepest characters on the show. But, they have tried to develop wonderWoman or atleast I think they tried. My beef is unlike Hawkgirl wonderwoman seems like a boring and stale character. If it was not for her flirting with Batman she would be fully stale. Shes had her moments, but they dun seem to delve to much into how she feels or how she reacts to certain things. I mean what does she think of mans world? In "Hawk and dove" it seemed like she still hated men. Theirs just something missing from her character on the show:confused: .
I can't fully put my figure on it, and i look at Hawkgirls progression as a character. I even find Vixen to be more interesting then Wonderwoman. The writers have done good jobs trying to flesh out her character, but theirs just something missing:sweat: . Even characters like Question have more going for them then Diana. But anyway who do you guys think is more interesting Diana or Shayera?

This is not why i dislike animated wonderwoman thread..cause i do like her...shes just so flat. I think the problem with JL/U Wonder Woman is inconsistancy. Her sexist attitude would have been an interesting character trait/flaw; but it only popped up when it needed to be used as a plot device. It bugged me that Diana could go from saying stuff like "would it really be so terrible if all the men croaked?" [the Aresia episode] to flirting with Batman like some lovesick teenager. Then her sexist attitude and disdain for "man's world" popped up again in Hawk and Dove. Then it dissappeared again.
And her romance with Batman was just awkward. It seemed like she was paired off with Batman because Batman needed a love interest. Personally, I hated the Batman/Wonder Woman coupling because I don't think those two characters have any chemistry (especially when compared to the dynamic, fleshed-out relationship that Green Lantern and Hawkgirl had).

While I agree that Wonderwoman got the shaft from the writers, I'm no Hawkgirl fan either. Most the time she comes off as a hypocritical, belligerant,PMSy shedog but that's just my opinion. Half the times though it seems as if the fanboys'd forgive anything as long they've got a pretty face. Personally I prefer the secondstringers such as Huntress or Vixen to Wonderwoman or Hawkgirl.

Personally, I hate the Batman/WonderWoman romance angle and hope it dies painfully before the end of the next season. I hate how in MotP it was a huge thing that he struggled with and then later is episodes (and Mystery of the Batwoman...urgh) it's handled so flippantly without any concideration to how it would affect his mission. But back to Wonderwoman....
I have hopes that maybe in the next season she might develop a bit now that she has her new powers, but frankly, it's gotten to the point that I'm caring less and less about trying to fix her. She's never been particularly interesting to me and four seasons hasn't done anything to improve that. We're now at the point that this may be the last season, meaning we have aprox. 260 minutes left with these characters and I don't really want to waste any of them trying to pull together a character that has failured to grab me throughout 4 seasons when there are so many other characters that I love and want to see more of.

Wonder Woman on the whole is not half as bad when you think about it. Her links to her people have been explored somewhat consistently on the show, and when a writer decides to use her as a team player, they do. All her major villains have made appearances, and even odd things like her romance with Bats or her temper have been worked into her character, with mixed results.
If they go and rewrite something major about her, then I think we should complain, but as it stands, all this Wonder Woman can be accused of is not being entertaining enough...and that's more an comment on the way she's being written then the way her cast is being used in any given story. By figuring out who Wonder Woman was as the creative team went along, the end result is that she's far from one-dimensional.
Shayera, on the other hand had her future planned from the start. They always knew they wanted to do Starcrossed, and so her romance with Jobn was also a calculated move. Maybe that planning yielded better results, but I think it's unfair to judge one against the other. They are different characters with different histories and different roles to plan on this show.

Wonder Woman's an icon, and DC is very careful about how she's portrayed. Hawkgirl is not, and this gives the writers far more liberty to explore her personality and story arc the way they prefer. So her character development has been far more organic.
As for the Diana/Batman romance, I think Wonder Woman has more chemistry with Batman than the DCAU Catwoman, Batwoman or Batgirl. In fact, in terms of personality matches, I'd put Diana after Andrea Beaumont and Lois Lane. Both Diana and Bruce have an aloof aristocratic streak, are fierce warriors that share a similar degree of commitment to punishing bad guys, and Diana's lack of worldliness nicely complements Bruce's cynicism and sophistication.
And as shown, the relationship is mainly of good-humored flirting, and unlikely to follow the contours of the GL/Shayera romance.

I'm just tired of Bats stealing the big blue boy scout's ladies, first Lois and now Wonder Woman

Kal is simply not a player. And Bruce had more chemistry with Lois than Clark ever did. Figures, since she's voiced by Dana Delaney. Her snarky personality's similar to Andrea's.

Diana and Superman done really seem to be interested in each other...on any level friend or as a boyfriend.

I agree that Supes' and Wondey's friendship (as portrayed the comics) is sorely lacking in the DCAU. They play so well off of each other in the comics, and the absence of that relationship has bothered me more than Diana's character itself. In JL/JLU, they seem like congenial colleagues, but little more. This is the missing link in the Superman-Batman-Wonder Woman trinity/triangle.
As for Wonder Woman ... I agree that she might be a little inconsistent in her characterization, and she hasn't had a clear arc like Hawkgirl, et al.; but I don't feel as vehement about it as some. I would like to see her in a stronger leadership role, making the big decisions along with Clark and Bruce. It's time for her to come full circle and shed any remaining vestiges of the naive, aristocrat bearing she started with in JL Season 1. If she is truly endowed with the wisdom of Athena, then let's see that fully mature woman on screen.

Hey guys,
Normally, I would say it's very disappointing that Hawkgirl is better written than Wonder Woman, but seeing how Hawkgirl is also better written than the Flash and the Martian Manhunter, then I'm more inclined to give the DCAU guys credit for writing Hawkgirl well as opposed to writing Wonder Woman poorly.
And Bruce had more chemistry with Lois than Clark ever didAssuming this is true, of the few mistakes or oversights the writers ever made in the DCAU history, this has to be one of the most egregious. Fortunately, the last season of JLU has helped remedy this error.

I'll jump on this bandwagon. The DC Encyclopedia lists these two as one of the top superhero pairups in that universe. There's a rich history between these two characters; in the past year alone, Wonder Woman has appeared in all four of the Superman titles, and Superman has appeared several times in her title, as well. A little meaningful interaction between the two could've gone a long way for both characters, just like in that one episode of the Ruby Spears Superman cartoon from the 80's.
I'd also like to add that "Ultimatum" was a missed opportunity for some Aquaman and Wonder Woman screen time. When I learned that episode would have roots in Superfriends, I was optimistically hoping for a scene in which Wonder Woman would give Arthur a ride on her Invisible Jet. Everything was there, except the person giving Aquaman a lift was Batman, using a really silly looking helicopter...

I think there is room enough for both characters. Yeah Hawkgirl has been given more screentime and therefore more depth but I think the show needed to do that as Hawkgirl hasn't really been portrayed for the mainstream before.
Hopefully JLU will get a few more seasons greenlighted to spotlight other characters for development.
As for the BM/WW relationship. I think they are well suited to each other. They are both quite resourceful and commited to their goals but I don't think it should go any further than flirting. It takes too much away from their individual characters.
Also, I think it would be cool to have an episode that explored the relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman that culminated with a mutual respect for each other, almost like a brother/sister competitiveness streak between them.
