ABC has been re-running LOST, but apparently they've been skipping episodes. Now, I'm usually one to do this myself, but seeing as I'd like to totally avoid spoilers, I'm asking for help.
Could someone who has seen the show in it's first run keep those of us posted on which episodes are to be skipped and a breif (but spoiler-less) synopsis of what occurred in ones that have been skipped.
Episode 16 aired just now, skipping over !5 "Homecoming" in which Charlie kills the man who has been terrorizing the survivors for a while now. I'm glad I downloaded it, but I don't like doing that for a show thats a) on TV and b) going to be released on DVD soon.

The point is to NOT go to website with potential spoilers (and perhaps maintain a re-run talkback-ish thread)

How can someone tell you what happened, but not tell you what really happened?

Finally, FINALLY ABC starts doubling up episodes of Lost starting Wednesday August 31st with Lost airing at 9 and 10!
Episode 16, 'Outlaws' aired tonight. Episode 17, 'In Translation' airs Wednesday the 24th and the two that will air on the 31st will be Episode 18, 'Numbers' and Episode 19, 'Deus Ex Machina.'
I've been extremely upset with how ABC has handled the Lost reruns this summer. Episode 15 which they skipped I was really mad about because that was one I felt was pivotal to air. I've been reading detailed episode recaps of the ones ABC has skipped over at TV.com (http://www.tv.com/lost/show/24313/episode_guide.html) (formally TVTome.com). The recaps there have been wonderful. :D
I really regretted not watching a single episode of Lost during the regular TV season (though if I started midseason, I would have LOST myself. Retarded I know. ;) ), and did make it a priority to watch the reruns this summer. The assumption was, and I think a lot of people thought this, was that ABC was gonna air the entire first season with them doubling up episodes during the weeks. Granted their surprise hit Dancing with the Stars on Wednesdays was a reason not to double it up then, but they could have aired it on Tuesdays as well.
Then when Brat Camp started, ABC was re-airing the previous week's episode of that show at 8, then a new one at 9, and then Lost at 10.
However, I'm willing to forgive ABC as long as they continue with the doubling of episodes so they can finish them ALL off in time for Lost's season 2 premiere September 21st! For me it's really cool because I see most of season 1 for the first time, and then jump right into season 2!
Though after looking at what's left to air, if ABC continues with the doubling then on Wednesday September 14th they would air Episode 22, 'Born to Run' and Episode 23, 'Exodus Pt. 1.' They would have to air an additional episode somewhere on a Tuesday or a Wednesday or just make the entire 8-10 timeslot specifically for Lost so they can air 'Exodus Pt 2' on the 14th. (Crossing my fingers)
And apparently I'm not the only one mad about this. The New York Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/ent_radio/story/335543p-286640c.html)did a short piece about ABC's handling of Lost this summer....
How many times can ABC take a hot new hit show that everybody loves, and frustrate old fans and repel potential new ones with its astoundingly stupid programming moves?
The answer, in recent years, is at least three - and the third is happening right now, with the maddening way ABC is rerunning episodes of "Lost" this summer.
It wasn't that many years ago that ABC made its first stunningly self-destructive move by taking its white-hot "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" show and using it to fill so many hours in the network's prime-time schedule that viewers deserted in droves - and ABC tumbled out of first place.
Last season, after the surprise and very welcome popularity of "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost" vaulted ABC back to prominence, the network - under new management - again risked the ire of loyal fans by stalling the momentum of those serialized stories with literally months of reruns.
We're all aware of the economics of commercial broadcast television, but why anger the very viewers you've just won back?
Fox started "24" last season in January, but was able to show that series sequentially from then on without a single pre-emption or rerun. I was very frustrated by the seemingly endless rerun cycle for "Lost" and "Housewives" at midseason, and letters from readers proved I was far from alone.
But in the summer, just when ABC should be nurturing new fans of "Lost" in particular, what it's doing these days is annoying them instead - and really upsetting long-time fans who have tried to bring new viewers to the series during ABC's "See it all, from the very beginning" summer cycle.
The catch - and the flat-out dumb move - is that with "Lost," a series that relies on an intricate sequential story structure, ABC isn't showing it all. With the second-season premiere scheduled for Sept. 21, the network has begun trimming rerun episodes from its summer cycle, rather than double up in other time slots.
Last Wednesday, ABC aired the 11th episode of "Lost," the one in which Jack (Matthew Fox), in flashbacks, confronted his alcoholic surgeon father. That was after skipping episode 10. Tomorrow night at 10, "Lost" jumps to episode 14, the one in which we find out about the past, and the psychic powers, of little Walt. It turns out he can, among other things, move things around unexpectedly and violently - just like ABC is doing with "Lost."
"I worked really hard pulling some friends of mine into the loop," complained a typically irate fan on one "Lost" fan site message board, "and now I have to explain missing episodes to them?"
The solution, and the salvation, arrives Sept. 6, when the loaded-with-extras boxed-set DVD of the first season of "Lost" is released.
But while that event alone would have been enough to reward fans and stoke them for the start of season two, the August rerun cycle - and its nonrerun herky-jerky approach - is muddying the waters. ABC should have lived up to its slogan and rebroadcast every episode, or not gone the summer rerun route at all.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind Lost starting say in January like Fox did and is again with 24 and ABC doing just that as well with Alias if it means no premptions and we can see it straight through. Though I think die hard fans would go crazy.

Season One DVD comes out early September. Then we can all watch it in order with no commercials or reruns.

Forgive me, but I don't see how you can get a synopsis without getting spoilers. How can someone tell you what happened, but not tell you what really happened? I should have clarified:
Synopsis of what was missed, free of spoilers of how what happened wil affect the storyline in the future (and that includes cryptic hinting)

I'm not just doing this for myself,I'm trying to provide an outlet for other TZers who might be int he same boat.
I was hoping this could be a recurring thread that covers stuff for the re-run-ers and helps them keep up to speed
EDIT< another point was for Re-runners to know in advance which epsides are going to be skipped so they can..uh..research it... yeah.

Next up is "In Translation", no skip this week. One month and two days until the season premiere.

It's ood, if they're that close to the 2nd season premeir, why does it seem like they're not advertising it at all
(then again, since I'm trying to remain spoiler-less, I think it's better off that they don't  )

What? They skipped that episode? That was a freakin' great episode, one of the best. There's much worse episodes to skip. Did they skip the second Jack flashback one and the second Kate flashback one? Those ones really need to be skipped, not the freakin' one where they kill Ethan.
And apparently I'm not the only one mad about this. The New York Daily News (http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/ent_radio/story/335543p-286640c.html)did a short piece about ABC's handling of Lost this summer....
That article just seems like a big whine fest to me. Complaining about reruns during the year? Give me a break. The problem with doing the show like 24 is that it doesn't give people a chance to catch up on reruns. If you missed an episode of Lost during it's first run, you had plenty of opportunities to see it rerun, with 24, you miss an episode and you're screwed. You can't complain about ABC skipping episodes of Lost during their third repeat and then say they should air it like 24. I mean, 24 doesn't just skip episodes during their third showing, they DON'T repeat ANY of the episodes.
And how can you complain about breaks between new episodes when 24 gives you a break of about 9 months between new episodes? If they left Lost off the air for 9 months then people would lose interest and they'd be pissed off that they couldn't watch the reruns.
It's reasonable for them to skip some of the unimportant episodes during the summer, especially when some of these episodes have already been repeated two or three times, my only qualm is WHICH episodes they skip. The one where they killed Ethan should not have been skipped.

Yeah, the pilot has actually been shown 4 times. For most of the other episodes this is the third time they've been shown.

Apparently ABC will start showing the 2 episodes starting next week. one at 9 and the other at 10. this serves 2 purposes: it catches the newer viewers (like me) up to date without skipping anymore, and it gets older viewers used to the new 9pm timeslot.

Apparently ABC will start showing the 2 episodes starting next week. one at 9 and the other at 10.Yeah, I mentioned that earlier in this thread. ;)
However, what really pisses me off now about ABC is that I just checked TVGuide.com with the Wednesday September 7th listing just posted. ABC will air episode 20- Do No Harm at 9pm and then at 10 they're skipping two episodes and going right to Exodus pt. 1!
So they're skipping The Greater Good and Born to Run. Ahhhhhh! Why are they making this difficult?
So now it seems that on September 14th, only one episode will air, Exodus pt. 2 and then the season 2 opener one week later.
God, I hate having to read about the skipped episodes! Especially with these episodes and the story they contain this late in it's season.

You don't have to be an *** about it. I've already stated in this thread that I did not start watching Lost until ABC started rerunning the series in June. There was no way I was gonna try and get into this show mid way through the season, especially two episodes before the season finale.
Again, no need for that comment. That came off as being smart alecky.

Sorry if I came out sounding smart alecky, but I just don't see how that's ABC's fault. If you started watching in mid-season(which I assume means about January) you could have easily seen all of the episodes in reruns before the season finale aired.
I mean, I notice that a lot of times it seems that the people on these boards attack a specific network for what is a general business practice. Fox cancels shows because they're low rated, just like every other network on television, yet they somehow get attacked for cancelling low rated shows. ABC airs reruns during the summer, but naturally doesn't have enough weeks during the summer to air all the episodes in the season before Fall, so they skip some, the same practice that every other network does, yet they somehow get bashed because the show they air is somewhat of a phenomenon.
And I also just find it ironic that on this board people were complaining about the constant showing of Lost reruns midseason, and now people are complaining that they're not showing enough of the reruns. It just seems like people complain no matter what ABC does. When you have a show as popular as Lost, people just complain. They seem to want them to devote their entire network to the one show they like. That's just not how running a network works.

The reason I wans't watching is becuase I like to watch a series from the first episode and watch it as it progresses. Unfortunately, I had other responsibilities at the time and missed the first 4 eps or so, so I resolved myself to wait until I could be guaranteed that chance again (if that meant the DVDs then I would have rented) Now once the season finale ended I recall hearing that it would be rerun fomr the start, my great big chance. But if they knew there would not be enough time to air all of the episodes I'm sure they could have freed up at least one hour sometime during the week to double up on their second highest rated program (I hear Desparate Houswives still beats it)
and now....I swear I can't friggin win with this show! They're preeempting the second episode (at least in my area) for more Katrina coverage. Not to sound insensitive, but.... COME ON! Why not preempt George Lopez at 8 for this!? Or put it on any other friggin day! I can't win! I'm so pissed I think I'll jsut spurge on the DVD and go hungry for a few days -___-
